Edit:
Credit to lamsy, Bunnings is price matching Mitre10: https://www.mitre10.com.au/rok-45cc-petrol-chainsaw-355mm

Seems like the one from Mitre10 is a better buy, bigger bar and bigger engine.

Seems like a good price, but I've had issues with Homelite engines in the past so YMMV.

I have cheap Ozito cordless stuff but for a chainsaw, if you are going to use it, a $300 Husqvarna or Stihl are entry level.

    • I’m using the Ryobi one from the camping kit, 18V brushed motor with 250mm cutting diameter. I won’t say I’m completely satisfied as it smokes during heavy load, but it’s good enough for branches <150mm.
Cut down a few 4m+ bay trees and a fig tree.

The chain came with it is rubbish though…

      • This seems like good value is you already have the Workzone/XFINITY batteries

      • I have the 18v BrushLESS motor version, and it's a beast.
I've used it to fell several palm trees, a gum, and countless general arm-thick branch lopping.

        • Yeah I actually have bought that one but exchanged it for the camping kit.
Couldn’t justify the cost just for some one-off cutting. Would love to keep that one otherwise!

  • This size bar and motor is maily used for trimming and pruning branches. Cutting down a tree however, is a different story. Engine may not have enough power to maintain a decent cut to fell a tree. Great 'hobby size' for very light duty stock pruning.

    • The trick for small saws and big trees is to pretend its an electric axe.
You cut wedge after wedge until it starts to go.

Once it's down, cut bottom to top if possible, to stop the weight of the tree 'pinching' the chain.

I have the 37cc Homelite chainsaw for about 3 years its been a beast for the price. I think i paid $169 I've cut about 20m of blackwood up with it including rounds pretty close to twice the diameter of the bar. The only thing that have gone wrong with it was, the primer bulb spit, cost me $2.50 to replace on ebay. I also bent the bar, which was my fault, also cheap replacement on ebay. I reckon this would be great for small jobs. Also the diameter of the chain is pretty fine but it holds its edge pretty well.

Edit: I'd highly recommend the 37cc, i'd reckon this would be similar. If your mechanically minded. If your looking to use this for pruning a few branches a battery powered recip saw with a pruning blade is so much better. no bar oil, no measuring 50:1 fuels, disposable blades, always starts.

Also have the 37cc and has been great around the farm. Absolutely no issues so far, and nice to know that things are cheap to fix/replace!

    • 37cc has 2 year warranty vs. 1 year warranty for the one in the post.

      • The 37cc just went on sale for $99 (was 219). I just went to bunnings to get the 35cc and checked online and saw the price had just changed for click and collect Moorabbin.

        • Further update, the price of the 35cc 30cm has gone back to normal price.

  • MS500I or go home ;)

    • You also drive a Bugatti I guess? ;)

Bunnings is price matching Mitre 10.

    https://www.mitre10.com.au/rok-45cc-petrol-chainsaw-355mm

    300mm vs. 355mm
    35cc vs. 45cc.

No experience with either one, but Mitre 10 one is bigger bar and engine.

    • Nice find!
I’ll add that to the post. Cheers!

  • Any reason I still see it as $159?

    • Thanks for pointing out.
