  • I know I could look online and try to find out, but direct from the "brains trust" here seems more better …
Anyone know / have experience of putting something like lineageos on these?

    • Have the Poco f3. Tried the pixel os but ended up with the Xiaomi EU rom as there are less bugs. It takes a week to unlock the phone from Xiaomi.

      • For future reference, what kind of bugs did you have with Pixel experience?

        • I'm running pixel experience on mine. No issues, far better than muiu

Basically the process is as follows

      • login to miui and register the phone to your account
      • use the mi unlock tool and wait a week
      • install adb drivers
      • install a recovery using powershell
      • install lineage

of course you need a lineage support for the model

    • I have a Poco F3. Had arrow for quite a while, nothing wrong with it v good, except they stopped updating. So have installed Pixel experience, works fine. Just follow install instructions for a clean install with sideload. I've had no crashes.
Maybe lineage is better, I heard it's good but haven't tried it.

    • Poco X5 doesn't really have any custom roms yet. Likely there will be down the line, but people are waiting for Xiaomi to release their kernel source code (they are often slow).

  • F5 is around $520

    • There's also the Redmi Note 12 Turbo which is the same phone with Redmi branding for a bit cheaper (or around the same if you want the 12gb/512gb model).

Be careful about China vs Global rom though, as there isn't really any custom rom support yet.

EDIT: Although you should be able to flash stock global MIUI and MIUI.eu at least.
