            • @wearabloodymask: I was pulling it out and they told me not accepted

              • @jowu15: Oh, i showed my local LPO staff and example before buying and they had no problem with them - I want to use them for my rates.
Could be just the opinion of an individual staff member?

              • @jowu15: In that case maybe you should complain about the post office instead of the cards?

                • @truetypezk: What reason would you use to complain? I thought they can choose what they accept so I just used with normal credit card.

                • @truetypezk: Paypal is not accepting these cards now, I tried to put one in to use at Pizzahut it was declined and I heard quite a few people had the same experience.

              • +1

@jowu15: If they ask justsay paying by mastercard and then swipe the card. It will work fine

                • @wearabloodymask: I would hate to hide like a scammer

                  • +2

@jowu15: What are you hiding? You are using a lawful way to pay for an item / bill.

                  • @jowu15:

I would hate to hide like a scammer

                    Good grief.

If you think their misguided accusations of fraud actually make you like a scammer then I don't know what to tell you ☹️

    • I used both $250 and $100 cards two hours ago at Woolies and it worked fine. Wonder if this is related to it not working in Paypal.

      • +1

Tried paypal and its not working :(

  • +1

So Paypal and Shopback no longer works :L

    • +3

Yeah, seems like these cards are losing a lot of functionality now

      • +4

Looks like heritage bank needs another complaint to FIO

  • Still works at ATO, used 10 at Mygov and 5 at Easypay 6 hours ago.

  • Anyone tried topping up Ato over what you need to pay them and the. Getting it all back in refund?

  • +2

Just called and PayPal mentioned the block is not on their end, as my account is fine with no blocks. They said it’s the card issuer who is blocking it now from being linked to PayPal

    • +2

hmm weird, I managed to add one onto PayPal successfully just now.

      • Probably just a maintenance/update by card issuer.

      • +1

I just tried again… Still not working for me.

        • +1

I just tried adding, doesn’t work too.

          • @ilovefullprice: Maybe 1st time use or 2nd time matters. I mean a used one may work.

            • +3

@Neoika: nope just tried adding one I have used partially and doesn't work

      • +1

        It's working for me.

        • Is that the $100 or $250 card? It appears to be only affecting the $100 card as someone had mentioned above.

  • I am trying to pay an ATO bill through the services section of mygov however my current balance is $0 and i cant seem to prepay even though ATO we site clesrly says you can. When i type in card details there is nowhere to choose amount.

I know i have a few thousand dollar bill shortly so want to pay if off using these cards.

    Any assistance would be appreciated

  • +1

Unable to add both $250 and $100 cards to PayPal, tried multiple times on 2 accounts. No luck. Seems like issuer blocked the cards for adding to Paypal , now I need a way to burn 5 cards.

    • How many cards have you previously added to PayPal before it got blocked?

      • +3

Card issuer blocked PayPal, not PayPal blocked the cards, no change on PayPal's side.

If you have tried adding TCN VISA to PayPal, it is also blocked by card issuer, the same issue.

        • Does TCN issue Coles MasterCard gift card too?

          • @ilovefullprice: A quick Google search tells you InComm Payments owns TCN.

            • @Neoika: Ok thanks. And Coles Mastercard giftcard is issued by Heritage Bank.

              • @ilovefullprice: Many people have known "InComm Payments" due to the disputes over unauthorised transactions on Coles Mastercard giftcards. It looks like you have not, good on you.

                • @Neoika: Are you saying InComm used to issue Coles MasterCard giftcards?

                  • @ilovefullprice: See here for who people dispute with for the unauthorised transactions.

                  • @ilovefullprice: I think there are 2 roles involved, the card issuer who actually keeps the funds and the program administrator who takes care of the day to day admin/customer service. The Coles Master card is issued by Heritage Bank but administered by InComm, the Active cards are also issued by Heritage Bank but administered by Blackhawk Networks. When you lodge an AFCA complaint it should be directed to the card issuer.

                  • +5

@ilovefullprice: Heritage Bank issues Coles Mastercard gift cards on behalf of InComm.

InComm is the gift card scheme owner and operator, and they contract Heritage Bank to help out with the financial administration aspects of this gift card scheme.

                    For example:

                    • When you call the phone number or visit the website on the back of the gift card, you are actually contacting InComm, not Heritage Bank.

                    • When you lodge a transaction dispute on a Coles Mastercard gift card, you are lodging the dispute with InComm, not Heritage Bank.

                    • When you have a transaction being declined, either the merchant or InComm is declining the transaction.

When you send an email to the Heritage Bank complaints team ([email protected]), there is not really a lot they can help with, because their role in the gift card scheme is only related to financial administration matters. However, that does mean that any complaints lodged with AFCA in regards to Coles Mastercard gift cards are lodged against Heritage Bank, not InComm.

none, this is first time after reading some of the comments here

  • +3

This is rediculous how can coles Mastercard block being added to PayPal? I’ve had the conversation with both companies and both saying no block on their end it’s the other company??? What can we do, I believe it is coles Mastercard issuer that needs to fix this

    • +3

The person that you can speak to is usually in a junior role and may not know the recent change made by an admin.

    • +2

I just tried linking one to my Paypal and got the message,"Your card has been declined by your card issuer. Please try a different card or contact your card issuer.". It's a block party… Also can't use it on Temu. Logging in to the website to check the card balance it shows active and full balance is available.

    • +1

Yeah, looks to be stuffed at the issuer end - I tried 3 different cards and no dice.
Seems someone objected to ppl using it for Paypal.
These continual locking down actions appear to directly contradict the packaging "Use this car everywhere Mastercard is accepted" :)

      • "Use this card where we approved"

  • Their website is currently down. Hopefully, this is a sign work is being done to fix this issue.

    • sth getting worse:
sendle didn't accept this MC (could add zip prepaid)
today balance check site is down, though called to check still ok
tried to use at WWS gift card site, failed (could use other prepaid)

      • Looks like website is still down…

        • +1

the mybalancenow.com website is working for me in Firefox and Chrome on OS X right now.

I noticed yesterday that it wasn't working in Firefox when UBlock was turned off but worked with UBlock on. Today it seems to work in both browsers regardless of UBlock being on or off.

          • @daanish: Working on Chrome now, must have just got it fixed up!

            • @Craze: The website is still down for me. I finally managed to connect to customer service but the rep wasn't very helpful. It sounded like she was only capable of reading off scripted answers. Call centre might be in the Phillipines going by the the sound of the fake American accent.

The only thing she could offer and repeat was to try the card in-store.

There's obviously something wrong with their system which is somehow not communicating with online retailers.

              • +1

@[Deactivated]: I called coles Mastercard number again, they aren’t very helpful one bloke told me it was a security breach, I asked him to elaborate, he repeated then hung up on me. I called back, asked for manager, she told me my card can’t be added to ewallet, I asked her why I use to be able to add and now I can’t, her answer it depend on the card and what batch, only way to check is to call them and ask, rediculous. I also told her I tried buying directly from Prezzee, her answer I can’t see transaction so it’s not us rejecting it is Prezzee contact them.

Not being able to add to PayPal definitely is a game changer I won’t be buying as many cards knowing they are not allowing cards to be used “everywhere mastercard is accepted”.

                • +1

@h2daizzo: I'm wondering if we are able to make a complaint to Financial Services Ombudsman of misleading and deceptive marketing?
Even if it doesn't actually make them change, any complaint that needs to be dealt with might cost them money and make them think twice about making misleading and deceptive claims in marketing.

                  • +1

@Zippy7: I’d do it, do you have a direct link? They seem to be making their own rules or lies as it pops up. I’ve looked on packaging and there is no mention of not being able to add to ewallet or the sorts. I’ve been adding to PayPal for years now without a problem

                    • +2

@h2daizzo: If you want to lodge a complaint, you need to lodge a complaint with AFCA against Heritage Bank.

The complicating factor is that Heritage Bank do not own nor operate the Coles Mastercard gift card scheme. Heritage Bank have only been contracted by InComm (the gift card scheme owner/operator) to help out with the financial administration of this scheme.

That matters little in terms of AFCA complaints, because if Heritage Bank received an AFCA complaint from you, they would need to work with InComm to provide a response to your complaint. It is good to know for context though, because the operation of this scheme is more complicated than it appears on the surface. For example:

                      • When you call the number on the back of the gift card, you are talking to an InComm rep (although I suspect InComm contracted another company to provide the call centre services…).

                      • When you visit the website on the back of the gift card, that is an InComm website.

                      • When you have a transaction being declined, either the merchant is rejecting the card, or InComm is declining the transaction.

Heritage Bank are unfortunately stuck in the middle, but that is what they get for agreeing to provide financial administration services to InComm for this gift card scheme…

                      • +2

@WookieMonster: Thanks for the pointer @WookieMonster.

So based on the AFCA link (AFCA.ORG.AU), this is a rough template, I've not raised a complaint with them before, but this is what it is looking like for me (please feel free to help amend/correct as required)

Note: AFCA encourage us to do the following before lodging a complaint with them

                        A) Complain directly to your financial firm first, using their internal dispute resolution process. Many complaints can be resolved quickly once you make contact with your financial firm (for example, your bank, insurer, financial planner, mortgage broker, superannuation fund).

                        • I would imagine this means we need to ring or send an email to [email protected]
I have called the number on the back of the card (07) 5660 6022 and waited ages before being able to speak to a customer service rep, who advised the Mastercard is not permitted to be registered with Paypal or any electronic wallets. I tried asking to be escalated to a supervisor, but gave up after waiting 15mins (not worth my time, and their hold music is annoying).

                        B) Identify the issue you want to complain to us about.

                        • We have been sold a prepaid card based on False and Misleading advertising. So the complaint is that Heritage Bank is party to the sale of false and misleading financial products.
We only find out these cards cannot be used everywhere a Mastercard can be used AFTER we have purchased the cards and they have our money.

                        C) Work out if you want to authorise someone else to complain on your behalf.

                        • I think not relevant

                        D) Think about what type of loss you have experienced, and what sort of outcome you want to achieve.

                        • The loss is that we are unable to enjoy the utility of the product which we have purchased ($250 prepaid MASTERCARD, not a crippled card).
Resolution is either a cash refund of $250 or unblocking the cards from being registered with PAYPAL and other online purchases to allow us to use the $250.

                        E) Collect any relevant documents that will help support your complaint.

                        • Screenshots/photo of the failed Paypal registration and any email replies from Heritage Bank (if you email).
Maybe not even required since they freely admit to this restriction.

The error text I received when trying to register on Paypal was "Your card has been declined by your card issuer. Please try a different card or contact your card issuer."

                        • +4

@Zippy7: Just log the complaint in AFCA to against Heritage bank. And they will ask InComm to post another gift card with the value you asked as compensation to let you happy with the complaint.
I already got $100 and $50 gift card from my previous complaints. If their result can't let you happy for the complaint, Heritage bank will pay $2000 to AFCA to go to next step.

                          • +1

@billhan: good rule? "as compensation to let you happy with the complaint."

I remember many years ago I lodged compliant to one bank they didn't care to be heard by court even after 3+ runs, and gov org (not AFCA) couldn't give help except "go back to work with bank", then I had to exit the ridiculous loop.

                        • +6

@Zippy7: Haha. After lodging a complaint to AFCA, it now seems that Heritage/Incomm have changed the restriction. I was able to add 2 MC cards to Paypal (2 cards that I know that were rejected earlier this week).

I did use the words "misleading and deceptive" in my AFCA complaint :)

You may want to try Paypal again and see if your cards can be added now.

                          • +1

                            @Zippy7: you are awesome!
added 2 to paypal and paid 1 WWS GC successfully.

                          • @Zippy7: Now that they've had their hand forced they'll just tighten the screws some other way now. Probably less discount next time.

                  • +1

@Zippy7: I would do it as well. We might need to include the context as @WookieMonster mentioned. Please keep me informed on your progress.

                • @h2daizzo: so they are intentionally blocking random batches from being used through paypal? which is possibly blocking other online retailers unintentionally?'

                  • +1

@[Deactivated]: Well they aren’t saying they are blocking batches, she chose her word carefully saying it depends on batches if they are accepted on ewallet and the only way to check is to call and have them check each card. She sort of went around as I called her out saying I use to be able to add these physical and digital cards on PayPal without problem, so that’s why she used the excuse depends on what batch. Bottom line is there seems to be no way of identifying this on the package besides having to waste your time calling them for each individual card, im at a lost it seems more work then needed and considering interest rates are up there now the time needed for this just ain’t work the measly 1-2% savings

                    • +1

@h2daizzo: Honestly it sounds like she’s BSing. If you have the time, speaking to another manager might yield a different or perhaps better answer.

                    • +1

@h2daizzo: It’s not batches, no cards can be added to PayPal anymore. Cards that worked previously (with zero balance) and I kept, can’t be added to PayPal. Same message declined check with issuer.

  • +1

I am using this card in our common laundry washing machine. The machines only accepts visa/MasterCard via swipe or tap but yesterday for some reason the card stopped working. Good thing it’s my last 250$ card. I have checked online and there’s still some balance remaining so I plan to use it in Coles as soon as I can.

  • +3

I received a reply from Incomm via Heritage where they mentioned they've "temporarily suspend all Paypal transactions indefinitely". They also suggest to use a different checkout method but I'm also getting declined without using Paypal and it's for the same reason, ie declined by card issuer. This part they did not address.

    • +5

      Lol at 'temporarily indefinitely"

      • +2

@King Tightarse - for a product marketed as MasterCard and use anywhere MasterCard is accepted, surely doing this is unethical and likely illegal as well!

        • "Use this card where we approved". "We" refers to InComms Payments.

          • @Neoika: @Neoika - see the below extracts from the updated cardholder agreement as of May 2023.

Para 2. The Card is a prepaid scheme prepaid card that can be used for purchasing goods and services where Mastercard prepaid products are accepted by a merchant (excluding transactions at ATMs or over the counter at financial institutions).

Prepaid Mastercard's are accepted by PayPal hence it should work!

Para 5. For security reasons, we may restrict transactions with merchants or limit the amount or number of transactions you can make on your Card. You do not have the right to stop payment of any transaction effected by use of your Card or Card details.

I suspect this is how Incomm will argue out of it. But how can they actually prove a security issue?

            • @nsingh21:

Prepaid Mastercard's are accepted by PayPal hence it should work!

I have tried adding Auspost one to PayPal last year and it didn't allowed, either. It is also distributed by Heritage.

  • +10

Add to PayPal working for me now. Was able to add 4 cards.

    • +2

Shoutout to alll those that made complaints. Huge thank you as I was stuck with 8 online only cards that were not working anywhere online! Not even a discount pharmacy. Anyway I think once bitten twice shy once these are gone.

    • +1

      @raj5055

      Thanks for posting this.

Managed to finally add my card to PayPal
and used there with no issue.
      Cheers.

      ( physical card)

  • I can finally linked my cards to paypal now. But now adding to shopback is not possible anymore

  • Any upcoming deals related to this?

    • +2

Definitely not next week and likely not the week after. If the last couple of years are anything to go by, Coles will probably offer 2,000 bonus Flybuys points on $100 and $250 Coles Mastercard gift cards sometime in August and another 10% off discount in October.

      • @VantageXL I'm in Perth. WA, QLD, SA, TAS & NT haven't had the June 10% off yet. Is this unusual? I'm a recent buyer of these gift cards and thought the 10% off had been for all states in previous years

        • +2

Last year they ran state/territory specific Vanilla Visa promotions and this year they've been doing the same thing with the Mastercards as well. I don't know why they keep snubbing much of the country but that's what they're doing.

  • Has anyone else noticed Deft payment not working with these cards? (For strata payments) Pretty sure they worked in the past

    • Oh no, i just used it like 2 weeks ago on Deft for Strata.

  • +1

    What is with Heritage bank?
I dont understand why they make the cards worse and worse. Usable in less and less places.
Personally will not bother with them again - too unreliable

    • +1

Yes and used to be able to lock them to prevent hacking and recently they have refused to do that.

      • Fishy

      • +1

Well they keep making it worse and worse and people keep happily buying them in large quantity so they get away with it.
        Boycott?
