    Seems an ok price.
I assume the 8GB is soldered, no expansion? (For $300 I don’t really care I guess)

And no scratches on the screen?

    • Hi,

Ram is soldered. In really nice condition, we guarantee.

      • Thanks.
        What’s the battery condition like?

        • +1

75% and above, mostly are over 80%

      • Can i expand it to 16 GB ?

        • if you have good solder skill and able to replace it then yeah you can.
          most of people here cannot

    • +2

The regular 7390 has a sodimm slot, but the 2in1 cannot be upgraded.

  • +3

Why don't you say 'Used' in title

    • I want to take my plus back

    • A mistake, sorry.

  • Does warranty include costs for shipping the laptop to you and getting the replacement sent to me?

    • Yes, it includes.

  • How old are these laptops? If it has more dents and scratches than I can accept, can I return it for full refund?

    • +1

      Hi foogle,

They are around 3 years old, in excellent condition. Happy to organize the return and refund if condition is not acceptable.

  • There is 12 percent discount in addition to SEOFY22. I missed ut.

    • how do you get this extra 12%? please share the details.

      • It was from seller. Now he has removed it. It was in my cart and in the evening the discount was gone. Seller replied there 20/22 percent disocunt , he shoud have refered to SEOFY22

Gotta be careful with these things, esp. ex-corporate ones.

Many of these in my workplace had overheating / battery swelling issues - gets so bad it pushes out the trackpad and keyboad and pops the bottom frame. Dell's policy during warranty is simply just swap out the components and ride out the warranty period…after which the corporates just discard them - someone elses problem.

The core/underlying issue is poor thermal design. Results in the puny fan running constantly and still unable to cope - results in massive lag/thermal throttling…interpsersed with high battery and keyboard surface temperatures.

This sort of electronic junkware is the reason I've found some newfound respect for apple products. The M1 and M2 macbook air are a smash hit and I hope it forces Dell/HP/Lenovo etc + Intel/Windows to up their game. Too much junkware for too long now on the windows side.

I've never worked on one of these Latitudes but have personally worked on multiple similar models before and share the same sentiment. Hopefully the seller of these laptops actually opens up these laptops and changes the thermal paste on them + cleans out the fans prior to sale otherwise I would bet these would be a overheating loud mess.

      • +4

Same, I've opened up a few - if the reseller is not doing it, would highly recommend doing what @ChineseElectronics has recommended:

        • Clean out fans - MAKE SURE they are working correctly, otherwise you will almost certainly have this issue in time

        • Check battery pouch cells for visible signs of swelling (the bottom cover side of the battery will look like its got some gas build up if you have this problem, but in severe cases, you can tell just by eyeballing how level (or lack thereof) the trackpad and keyboard are even without opening the bottom cover

        • Make sure you flip the screen across the 180 degree arc to see that it changes orientation correctly - the rotation/position sensor fails on some of these earlier models and it may 'stick' in one of the positions

        • consider changing out thermal paste/reseating the heatsink

        • easy to DIY changing thermal paste? never done one before.
          cleaning fans, i can.
reseating, never heard so maybe i cant
zero solder skill here but i know how to open pc and swap hdd ram etc

          • @CyberMurning: reseating / changing thermal paste is on the easier side.
soldering is generally not required, those kind fixes generally are harder fix and wouldnt fit an enterprise model of "quick fixes"

            • @wakkawalla: ok i found few youtube. so basically open the back, find (this part im not sure for this laptop: heatsink? cpu? gpu?)
then clean with isoalchl, then put the new thermal (buy https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005003092698363.html) thats it ?

              • +1

                @CyberMurning: Yup,
No need to solder anything and in fact, would not recommend that you do unless you are highly experienced. There is a possibility of accidentally shorting out the board if you make a mistake. Reseating the heatpipes shouldnt involve any sort of soldering.

KISS principle applies - start by opening the case.
                Check battery for physical swelling.
Check fan/s (I cant remember if the 7390 had 1 or 2, I think it was just 1) for dust and free spinning

                Now turn on,
Check the screen orientation sensor as mentioned above
Check fan/s again for noise - some will develop a bearing / grinding noise. Others you'll just see all the lint bulid up which is a surefire clue its run hot for awhile. And HINT - if the fan/s are constantly running at low load, you may need to reapply thermal paste.

Now, in terms of thermal Paste, reseating, I cant give you much good guidance.
I've never bothered to do it to 'reuse' because at that point, its not my problem, it's Dell's :)

I have only taken heatsinks off out of curiosity perspective. Some of the ones I've seen, the old thermal paste is completely hardened/dried out and so has patchy conductive coverage for the CPU - so no amount of good cooling is doing much for the CPU, whereas the fan is running constantly.
Again, I wouldn't necessarily recommend doing this - do the other things first. If it runs fine, leave it be. If it doesn't, consider this may be one of the possible failure modes/fixes.

Also, I don't think I ever saw these 2in1 models with a dedicated GPU - so we are talking about reseating the section on the board that is covered by either copper or aluminium heatsink/vapour chamber which is usually married/bridged up on one end (or two outlet ends) with one or two fans. Now, my knowledge is limited by my org's purchase/needs…. But TBH I'd be surprised if this came with anything but the integrated intel GPU, it would be a pretty carpy* one if fitted - theres not much space inside and most of it is battery with a tiny ssd in the corner. Think of all the additional thermal issues if they had a separate GPU to cool!!!

                Good luck!!

                • @Ozbargainerd1: wow..
okay i'll about it first.. sounds fun but this is an impulse buy so need to be careful not blowing $300 haha

    • Many of these in my workplace had overheating / battery swelling issues

      Wouldn't be surprised.

I have latest latitude 5000 series i5 10th gen. Runs like a jet engine because not enough ram (8gb) with MS teams calls and spreadsheets.

16gb on 7390 runs just fine.

Sometimes corporate images are buggy. On my 7390 I turn off turbo boost and change power settings.

      • I have 32gb same model and the game run like a jet engine and will throttle. I would recommend a laptop cooler. I had one lying around and it solved the problem.

        • Mine is on one of those Kensington laptop stands that is open at the bottom and side profile is like this /\

        • wow even 32gb is like that, so 8gb on this on the post is not so good?

    • What cheapish (300ish) ex corporate laptop would you recommend? A Lenovo?

      • +5

Thinkpad T480s. If you can stretch to 380ish for Dealer Used (I refuse to call them Refurb), or watch out eBay auctions or FB for $300ish.
The best intel 8th gen laptop under $500 in my opinion. Compact, lightweight, well made not plasticky, and almost everything is upgradable.
The thermal design is arguably the best as well.

        • Thanks you absolute legend.

        • Thank you — eBay-grabbed one for AU $251.94.

          • @Jacob Marley: Great deal. Can you share the link or you got it from auction?

            • +1

@NoBargainNoLife: Last one of three — https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/334749832895#readMoreDesc — from Technology Locker — https://www.ebay.com.au/str/technologylockerptyltd#tab2 — $251.94 from $323.00 using ebay+ code SEOFY22 — Fakespot warning but lots of +ve feedback - Grade C (!) but “Item has been cleaned and refurbished and it comes with 3 months warranty. All components have been tested and are in good working order. Item has been installed with a clean copy of Windows 11 Pro with all drivers. (There may be some cosmetic scratches, marks, dents, dint, blemishes, scuffing on external surface and/or white spots on screen or minor damaged.) ("This item has dent on laptop cover up") "PHOTOS FOR ILLUSTRATIVE PURPOSES ONLY.”” — Could be iffy but if everything is upgradeable/replaceable what the hell…

              • @Jacob Marley: I see, absolutely a great deal if you don’t mind grade C or dent etc. I got mine a while ago still lovin it. So far I have upgraded ram, M2 SSD, wifi 6 card. You can even replace the lid cover , keyboard or upgrade to 2K screen if you need. Hips of parts available for this monster, and extremely easy to open and DIY.

              • @Jacob Marley: one of photo has some serious dent crack on the lid - hope for the best
                sold out now

  • No USB C?

    • +1

2 x DisplayPorts over USB Type-C with Thunderbolt

  • +2

I recommend them for their support and communication. Won't leave you high and dry if something went wrong. (Mine is delivery). I bought from their last deal. (Not this 2 in 1) And unit is good. Plenty of life left. YMMV.

    • What was the condition like, compared to how a new unit would be? Many scratches?

      • +1

Pretty good for second hand. The only visible mark is the stickers mark line they taken out from the cover of the unit. Battery seems good though use it for two hours dropped to 80%. Typing and browsing stuff mainly.

        • Thanks.

  • +3

Good specs. I was about to hit to GO button but then I saw this article re: dell latitude 7390 failure problems.

    https://www.dell.com/community/Latitude/Major-Latitude-7390-…

It's worth a google and decide for yourself.
I will pass for the moment
