Would any of these 32gb be consider low profile enough to fit in an NR200P?
need more info…you would only have an issue if going with a low profile air cooler. If so, check clearance from cooler specs for suitable ram.
Yeah checking, LPX fits under my NH-U12P SE2 with a little bit of space. Would probably close the gap more than my liking since these are slightly bigger
I have an NR200P and I just use any sized memory.
Probably a good time to replace the 2x 4gb i currently have
I am currently using Crucial Ballistix Gaming Memory, 2x16GB (32GB Kit) DDR4 3200MT/s CL16 Unbuffered DIMM 288pin Black, (PC4-19200), wanting to upgrade to 64GB, would any of the 32GB sticks suit my need?
As I understand, the general concensus is to not mix and match ram. I've heard there can even be issues with buying the same brand, model, timings and everything, but 2 different sets from different batches, which is supposedly why they sell sets of 4? An expert could chime in here though.
Or you could just roll the dice and grab a set before they run out and hope for the best!
Crucial Ballistix Gaming DDR4 can be overclocked. The ones listed here are likely SK Hynix RAM. If it is for AMD Ryzen AM4, it is hard to tell. It depends on your motherboard, CPU, but the old being sold / discounted here are inferior to the ones you have so you will need to take that into consideration. Best case, you get 4 DIMMs to work DDR4-3200. Worst case, you need to drop below DDR4-3200.
Furthermore, doing a memory test after the install is a must.
Thank you and @goose25 also. That is good advice, I want to avoid all the hassle as it's for my workstation/productive use, I will see if I can get the same DIMM again.
Actually, if budget isn't a problem, what can I get that will run well with my Crucial Ballistix Gaming DDR4 (as these were hard to get now the last time I checked).
CPU: AMD 5800X
MB: MSI B550 Tomahawk
Thanks!
Odds are that your crucial ram is using micron rev e (commonly known as e die). So you would want to find kits that are also rev e. Issue is that micron stopped making rev e dies. So you probably need to scour the 2nd hand market.
Another big issue is that rev e is dual rank. and since you have 2 sticks of it, you have basically hit the limits of the imc for ryzen. If you add additional ram, you most likely will not be able to run the xmp speeds. You will have to spend time tweaking the timings and voltages.
Solution would be to just straight up sell ur current ram and get a new 64gb kit.
actually surprisingly good kits, was able to clock much higher with tighter timings than g.skill's rgb 3200mhz kits. not exactly b/e-die, but like halfway there for dirt cheap.
Would these work with Alienware R10 that has one 16gb stick currently?
Generally yes but only to match the speed you have. Might require manual setting if XMP doesn’t work.
Oh, these are all pairs. Triple is possibly not so good. Better to have 2 or 4
Will I notice a difference in fps going from 2133 speed?
Assuming your board and chip supports it, yes you should see some improvements. Also depends if you're on Intel or amd where amd will likely see higher improvements
I have a i5-10600KF
Max for that chip is 2666
@Nomad2233: Per Intel's spec yes. But can definitely take faster ram
https://youtu.be/csFwlKgZCzM?t=340
Suggests otherwise for performance difference.
This also assumes OP has a board that supports the memory speed as mentioned.
You’d benefit more from more ram rather than faster ram
Same amount of ram and same number of sticks? Even if you get more frames you probably wont notice it unless youre on an apu or 1st gen ryzen.
Sheer nonsense. RAM speed and timings are far more important that you realise. Please follow FrameChasers on YouTube. You will get massive gains from manually tuning your RAM. Its not even close. Jufes has shown that, max RAM tune vs max RAM tune, i9-1300K is faster than ryzen 7 7800X3D in most gaming work loads
Good Old Gamer is also a good follow to disabuse you of your delusions regarding RAM speed/timings.
So many don't even load XMP profile, the bare minimum :)
Are we discussing max speed ram or specifically 2133 vs 3200?. A 2133 kit vs a 3200 kit varies between 0 to 30 fps, with about 10 fps being the major difference I see. Are you going to notice that?

Most favourable on ryzen

Especially on older intel theres basically no difference. If he's on a 2133 kit its likely to be quite an old system or a mismatched pre-built. Heck most of that frame chasers guys video start at 3200 speeds and go up from there.
Awesome prices, too bad car makers don't have access to these cheap 'chips'….. OH WAIT yes they do, they just want to milk all the suckers.
Good to see that some things are getting cheaper and not more expensive :)
All the 2x 16GB seem to be out of stock.
umart/msy etc sell:
Silicon Power 16GB (2x8GB) 2666MHz Value Gaming Special Edition Desktop Memory DDR4 RAM SP016GBLFU266BD2AD
but on their respective websites.. the specs say it's 3200mhz.
(example https://www.umart.com.au/product/silicon-power-16gb-2x8gb-26…)
silicon power website seem non functional.
does anyone know if this ram is 2666 or 3200?
yeh that one was 2666mhz (website error).. they had another listing for 3200mhz at the same price.
ChatGPT wants more memory!!
