Oh man, they should've use that big gap in between the autlets instead of leaving in blank in the middle

  • What was called Smart before is ones with one Master socket and few Slave sockets. It sensed if device in Master socket was on or in standby and powered Slave ones accordingly. Rare now.

    • I have an Aldi one of these, and it is pretty terrible. Big and almost useless.

      • I have one from Bunnings, and its awesome. AppleTV wakes AV receiver (in master socket). All slaves come alive - TV, subwoofer, active front speakers.

Some of them can use HDMI-CEC anyway.

"It appears as one accessory with 4 switches in HomeKit. They aren’t marked and weirdly correspond to the 4 outlets in reverse order - number 1 is in the right, number 4 in the left. There is no control over the power to the 2 USB-A ports."

    No IFTTT support
    No hub req just WIFI
    USB: 5V 2.1A
    Input: 220-240V~ 50/60Hz 10A Max (2400W Max)

Seems ok for the money, most other cygnett devices at BigW are zigbee. Seems you give up the power monitoring (crappy app) to go to HomeKit. I wonder if HA would detect?

Cleaned out the last one in brissy.
Was watching them drop to unavailable in my cart lol
Cracker of a price, have lots of the singles controlling all sorts of oddities.
Great to plug in all the tv crap and have easy hard reboot when couldn’t be bothered to leave couch :)

I read somewhere that Cygnett stuff uses eWelink and is therefore local control compatible with Home Assistant. Can anyone confirm this?

    • If it has HomeKit (like this one) it can be controlled locally with the HomeKit controller Home Assistant integration.

This device doesn’t have energy monitoring, but some other Cygnett devices do. One shortfall is that HomeKit doesn’t support energy monitoring.

For energy monitoring / non HomeKit devices, I’ve read that Cygnett/Ewelink work with this popular custom integration:

  • Which powerboard has high power usb ports?
Every single powerboard I've bought only has 2.1A shared, which isn't enough to feed 2x QI chargers (sort of works, but won't work with thicker phone cases - using a 10W usb plug thingy on the same QI charger and the phone with the thicker phone case charges no problems). But I don't want to buy a 10W usb plug thingy for $30 + waste a slot on the powerboard.

  • I checked their website and looks like they wont sell any more smarthome products. Will this powerboard still work?

Cygnett aren't running their own cloud service for smart home products. They're using either eWelink or Tuya cloud services.

So yes, they will continue to work just fine, even if Cygnett disappears entirely.
