    Just an FYI if you can wait and don't mind paying a bit more the 2024 Polestar 2 is coming Q3 2023 and is a substantial upgrade. New battery, more powerful motors, RWD, and some previous add-ons are now standard.

    • this is what I would wait for IMO as tempting as this offer is the next generation/edition/facelift has on paper better bang for buck as well as an increased range

        At this price range, it is reasonable to expect standard tech features such as a 360 camera and rear cross traffic alert. Even Tesla includes cross traffic alerts in their vehicles.

        It is bizarre that these "optional extras" (Pilot Lite) require a few thousand dollars to be paid for.

      Keeping in mind it'll almost certainly come with a price increase for the MY24 cars.

      Polestar Australia is yet to confirm local pricing for the updated model – and order books are not due to open until April at the earliest – but as a guide, prices have increased in the UK by four to seven per cent.
      This points to a starting price of $66,500 plus on-road costs and options for the entry-level model – up approximately $2500 – or $78,500 plus on-road costs and options for a top-of-the-range dual-motor model (vs $73,400 for the current car).

      However, judging by the price hikes announced in the UK – where the base single-motor Standard Range variant has increased by 1800 pounds from GBP43,150 to GBP44,950 – the upgraded Polestar 2 will be more expensive in Australia too.

    This is a bait! Don't do it.

    The Polestar 2 facelifted model is coming right after this deal ends.

    It features a new battery, more powerful motors, REAR WHEEL DRIVE, and many features are now standard.

    • I think some people are looking to buy before EOFY so might be good for those people

      • Agreed. And some people simply do not care and price is paramount.

        for the average driver, what do "power powerful motors" and "rear wheel drive" add to their daily commute even…

    • Agreed. Waiting for the 2024 to be available.
      Features like wireless power charging and blind spot monitoring will be standard, so it'd be interesting what the pilot/plus packs would feature this time around.

      • Chinese owned and Chinese build can be two different things. China bought Volvo which owns Polestar.
        I'd also do a lot of research before buying anything owned by a Chinese company. If they keep the culture that was Volvo Sweden, attention to detail and quality control, I'd say Polestar would be worth considering. But if they go down the road of a Great Wall, then I'd steer clear.

        For my very limited inspections of a Tesla vs Polestar - I like the Polestar better from the interior and exterior. However, I'm more interested in what VW has in the pipeline for a EV hot-hatch. I realise VW has got a bad rep for QC issues, yet I've never had any issues with my ICE VWs.

        • TO clarify, though I think you addressed the same point Its not about where its made, its the QA and processes each indiviual company employs to make sure the cars are reliable.

      I fail to understand why anyone is still pretending Tesla quality control is as good as, let alone better than other chinese manufacturers.

        Ironically, china made tesla have better quality control than US made tesla.

        • Same with Korean Kia's vs US ones

      • I also wonder about their software update practices which of late cause more Tesla owners headaches than the vehicles themselves.

        I commend Tesla for forcing other companies to invest deeply into EVs and because of it we as consumers have a lot more choice out there and becaue these vehicles are being built by established auto manufacturers build quality isn't something you'd have to question often

      • Management and governance. Often well established western brands will be stricter and more robust QC processes than countries from emerging countries.

      very much a global effort - spinoff brand created by Volvo and Geely, engineered across the world, assembled in China.

      We live in a globalised economy, that is exactly what you want and is a very good way to achieve economies of scale.
