This is the 450.55.G, not the newer 450.86.T. Difference seems to be no connectivity and therefore not able to connect with the De'Longhi app.

From my understanding It comes down to sacrificing taste with convenience.
Though in saying that, I had a DeLonghi Dedica for quite a while, then replaced it with the DeLonghi PrimaDonna Soul (40% off deal) and I think that the coffee is the same if not better.
For me, it's so much easier to get my caffeine hit in morning. Just grab the milk frother out the fridge, attach it and press a button to make my coffee. Super convenient when dealing with the morning rush. No need to clean out bits and pieces every time.Coffee snobs will always rag on autos but once you dial a good machine in, choose the right coffee, and warm your cup first, you're good to go. I prefer my home lattes on my auto the majority of the time to those I get when out. In saying that when my coffee doesn't taste that good, it's usually on the changeover to a new bag of beans or milk and/or it needs cleaning, and if you're a black drinker, then just get a manual and aim for the best Crema you can get.
Definitely more convenient but coffee doesn't taste as good as Dual Boiler with a good grinder. Really just depends on what you value.
It's a small diameter (around 40mm) but deep pressurised basket brewer. Therefore, it can't handle proper espresso fine grinds (as you would put in a Breville ) as it will just clog/ jam. So coarser grinds brewed in a shorter time gives a semi drip coffee flavour. Crema present, but not a full extraction. The milk frother is just drawn out by laminar steam flow, so not a creamy micro foam you get from an immersed steam wand.
Summary, makes an ok coffee with a cappucino type milk foam. Breville can make a barista quality coffee (or better), but more work.
I have an auto for mid week on the go coffee, and a Breville for a proper coffee on weekends.
P.S. Dedica has a 51mm diameter puck, Breville 54mm, barista 58mm. Bigger diameter means more surface area, means a better extraction.
Coffee machines… so hot right now.
Just need a machine to drink it for me then I'll be all set.
Which auto coffee maker do you guys recommend? I just dont have the patience to make proper coffee, I have a nespresso machine atm.
Delonghi makes good cheaper machines. Otherwise if you have a larger budget, Jura makes the best fully automatic machines IMO.
Thanks, After thorough consideration, I have made the decision to purchase the Breville Barista Pro Espresso machine from Amazon. It was priced at an attractive $841, which I believe is a great deal for the product. What's more, I have been thoroughly enjoying the coffee produced by this machine, which I must say rivals the quality of coffee purchased from a cafe :)
Good choice. It is a fantastic machine. Tempted to get one myself.
I bought one of these around 6 months ago. It's great and easy to clean. Would recommend.
I've heard someone here rag on automatic machines, but really how would this compare to the $500 Dedica/Breville machines? It seems awfully convenient, more convenient than most pod machines. Even steaming milk with it would be convenient compared to standing there like a chump under the steam wand.
