    • Your download speed was always 900mbps.

Say hi to ur kid from me.

      • +1

        Isnt that really your kid?

  • -6

    only 1000Mbps? i need 10 Gbps

    • +6

      I also want 10gbps for $16.50

      • Try the price times 20.

Just get old Mellanox cards and network your PC's directly using DACs from FS.com.

  • I had the metal case one, is there any difference?

    • +18

Yes. It has a metal case.

  • Fark me bought this 2 weeks ago :(

    • +1

Ask to price match. If they won't then buy this and return the old one if it was purchased from Amazon.

    • Had house hardwired two weeks ago. Bought a TPlink 16 port switch not even thinking that I needed a router as well as google wifi doesnt play nice. Then bought a tp-link omada router as well. So over $300 spent when I could have just bought one of these so my son can have slightly better gaming.

      • +2

Wut? You already have a router for your Internet/NBN/whatever. Just use that and plug your GWifi into the switch.

        • -1

Yeah well its all a mess that I haven't worked out or even thought about before I bought everything.

          • +1

@Franc-T: True ozbargain, spend before planning or thinking

Wifi accesspoint with a built in switch is what i found best, plenty of wifi but access for the speed needs around consoles etc :) Solves soooo many problems and all POE

  • +15

Don't worry OP, that mindset is surprisingly prevalent. I was recently talking with someone about how I had data ports placed into almost every room in my house and they were surprised, saying "I thought a tech guy like you would have everything wireless!"

    • +3

A tech guy would know what to hard-wire for better performance, security and safety.

  • Anything similar with Poe?

    • +1

Lots of second hand stuff but new seems really expensive. I just bought a poe 24 port switch for 10 bucks it's only 100mpbs but more than enough for cameras depends on your use case I guess

      • Seriously? Was it glowing hot (stolen)?
Yes, plenty of applications for 100Mbps PoE.

  • +2

Just what I've been waiting for. Glad to get a well price gigabit switch

  • +1

    Any Poe bargains?

  • Do these things need to be configured with fixed speed on the PC side?

I remember the days when setting up auto-negotiate speed on both the PC and the switch would result in performance issued.

    • lol no

    • +4

Comes with a gigantic DIP switch array so you can configure baud rate, parity and stop bits per port.

    • Yes and you also have to set the IRQ and DMA for your network card

  • Limit 1 per customer.

    Where are the 2.5Gbe deals?

  • What the difference between this and D-Link DGS-1005A (https://www.centrecom.com.au/d-link-dgs-1005a-5-port-gigabit…)?

    • +4

I would hope not much, but I have had more problems with D-Link gear over the years and their support always blame the user. At these prices the product largely comes down to transport costs.

      • i have both and honestly i can't see the difference between the two.

        • That is a good thing. It is when there are problems (faults) with the D-Link equipment that the trouble starts.

  • I'd love to move to 2.5Gb switches - the price difference is still just too big :(
