These high cashbacks really show how we get ripped off. They make a lot of profit from a customer … as the margin must be really high to account for this.

    • Market budget

  • Would the cashback work if I switched the existing EnergyAust connection to my partner's name? Or better off going to a new provider?

    • Will be based on address where the meter (number) is. Which won't change.

Switching retailer needs to be in same name as old bill - to receive this offer!

Changing address or name is a new service, not Switching! So no.

Can change to different energy retailer, but that takes min of 2 weeks (cooling off period of contract).
      This offer ends tomorrow!!!

      • Thanks!

        • I switch electricity retailers every ~2 months, for the benefits offered. So know the process.
Take up one of the other offers, then return for next EA Deal. And repeat…

None of these major provider have fixed rate plan now.
Variable price will get jacked on 1 July

    • my fixed rate ends on the 9th

      new rates 26% higher :(

      • Yep, and it will get jacked further in 1 July
That's why I'm not buying those variable rates

        • whats the best option atm? best i can find is globird but like u said its all variable so kinda moot

          • @furythree: I haven't found any :(
And clock is ticking, my current fixed plan ending closer to end of the month

  • gas almost double with 25% discount

  • EA last year around now had 12mth locked in rates (I'm still paying 17c/Kwh in QLD) so worth checking out.
The CR was paid out IIRC ~3mths, not the 6mths stated at the time.

    • Electricity is quicker. Especially with smart meters.

Switching Gas takes longer to be processed as discussed in Deals. Depends how frequently gas meter is (manually) read. Needs at least 1 billing cycle (after meter read) before confirmed.
Add 'usual' 3 months for payout to CR to be processed as cashback.

Hence may take up to 180 days (for gas).

Those are going to switch please be careful, at least take a screenshot as evidence, my reward from switching NBN hasn't been traced & still under investigation/calculating after I complained, being nearly two months now, will update the situation here early August

  • Yeah you subscribed to their high rates and pay $1000 more and you get rebates $250? Lol. The worst would be mafia Red Energy. If you report Red Energy doctored account to ombudsman they hang you with putting you on creditor list.

  • I signed up hoping to take advantage of this offer but already am planning to port away from them. I think they are a pretty deceptive mob, I signed up on their Flexi Plan for Victorians which provides 25% off gas bill and 20% off electricity. When they created my account I was set at 11% off electricity and no discount for gas.

I tried to message them via live chat and the experience was terrible. They kept asking stupid questions instead of asking for my account number saying my plan would get updated if I changed it. I had just logged onto the portal and hadn't changed a thing. Then they didn't respond for ages. I told them if they can't fix it I'll just report it to the obudsman and then port off.

I already regret signing up with them - even the discount isn't worth the amount of time that is wasted.
