Buy the Tp Link Tapo C210 for ~AU$43 UK version from Amazon or ~AU$65 AU version.

2K video, 2-Way talk, Alarm. Supports ONVIF so can be connected to any supported NVR over Wifi for 24 x 7 recording. Supports Motion detection events to NVR (so can generate or tag event based clips). Supports Human and Baby Crying detection and notifications on Tapo app. Supports Motion Tracking so it can turn to follow the subject. Has SD card capability if you don't have an NVR. Supports both Google, Alexa and IFTTT. All of that without any cloud subscription.

Supports TP Links cloud subscription Tapo Care too for $4.99 a month which then gives video clips on the Tapo app notification. I configured it using an NVR so my NVR has motion event tags with 24 x 7 recording which I can query using its NVR's App. I have also connected to the free Oracle cloud tier instance over SFTP using the NVR so free cloud backup for up to 100GB. So far have used 28GBs since end of February.

    • Whats the difference between the UK and aus version ?
I would like to use something like this to safety monitor a elderly relative. They have a basic NBN setup with a TPLink router from thier provider.
Could i set this camera up so i can use my phone while out and about to connect and monitor via video and two walk talk to the person inside the house.
Is it easy set up ?
So i need to pay for some cloud service to be able to realtime monitor the video feed ?

      thanks for any advice.

We have a couple of basic Tapo cameras we use to monitor our pets when we're away. No cloud service required, you just need to make sure the camera is connected to the wifi in the house (and obviously your phone would need to be connected to 4/5g or wifi to be able to view the camera).

        Sorry couldn't respond fully earlier.
        - Plug is UK.
        - No cloud sub required to connect over the internet and monitor realtime with two way talk. I do this all the time to bug my wife when I am at work.
        - Easiest thing to setup. Just need Android or IOS App.
        - You would probably need an SD Card as I think it needs to write somewhere to make AI notifications but I could be wrong here as I use an NVR.

        • How difficult is it to use in Australia? Just need a plug adaptor? Or do you need a whole new power adaptor?

@WaywardOne: Just a plug - ~$6 at Bunnings. Same as if someone purchases a Tp link Router UK variant posted quite regularly on OzB.

  • Fully second those comments about TpLink indoor cameras.

Full disclosure - we use Ring cameras for front and the side door + pay a small subscription for the front door one to keep the videos in Cloud + other features. But our indoor TpLink cameras are perfect and worked perfectly whenever we were away for a couple of weeks. No lag or quality issues, just need WiFi connectivity. So, this Ring "deal" is a rip-off even at $70, if you are looking for indoor cameras.

But hey, its a free country and if your OCD insists on Ring branded cameras for indoors, this is a deal ;)
