    • Keen to hear this too

I did with the intention of using it as an under cabinet light in the kitchen. These LED strips aren't bright enough for the job and the LEDs are too far spaced apart so you can see the individual dots even with a diffuser on. I scrapped the entire idea and repurposed these for mood lighting instead.

      • Thanks mate, appreciate the reply. Thought as much

As a true ozbargainer…I don't watch tv…I don't need any lights…I dont know what it is…I don't know how this works…I do know it is a good price…So…I bought it…

You don't need to know any of the above. Start to read the manual when you receive it.

  • Do these work just as general lighting in the living room or is that not really its purpose?

    • as general lighting in the living room

      No, not bright enough.

    • +3

Based on the answer above, probably not enough for your username either…

  • Every time these pop up I try to convince myself I need it, but can never think of a good enough use case :(

think of a good enough use case :(

As we mentioned as TV backlight.

Okaaay you got me. Bought. This article tipped me over the edge: https://geekyfaust.info/guides/5-benefits-of-having-a-tv-bac…

👍 after you have it, you can't watch TV without backlight, just like my xiaomi monitor light.

        • @Catsfan070911

          the article says
Bias lighting, meanwhile, is placed behind the viewing surface. This brightens your surroundings without shining any light directly into your eyes or onto your screen itself. You’ll get all the benefits of a more illuminated room without having to deal with problematic glare or other visual distortions.

with this strip, does it means we need to install the strip at the back of the tv (so lights up the wall behind the tv) or we can put the strip on the wall around the tv (so it lights up the room facing us) ?

  • Anyone know if this works with Tuya Smart app?

    • +1

      No

Realistically, do these ever retail for $129? Can't find a reliable price track on camel or elsewhere. Bought one anyway, I paid $30 for a 3m govee strip last year so this is great.

  • Got one, thanks OP

    OOS

  • my light strip wont even stick to paint on my walls…..

sitting in the cupboard doing nothing

    • yeah walls are trouble..

    • +1

It's always worth wiping across the area with isopropyl to get rid of any dust. I've got some cheap cable organiser things that won't stick to my wall unless I wipe over it with isopropyl first.

Otherwise you can buy better double sided adhesive and replace the stuff on there. Realistically you won't need to cover the whole strip if you get some strong enough stuff.

I bought one before. One of the extensions became faulty after a few months of use. It took a while to get the seller to exchange. They even claimed to ask me to pay postage of the item is not faulty (I did send them a video and it was obviously faulty). I guess we're spoiled by amazon.

You already applied this code to an order. I cannot use the code because of getting one from the previous post?

    Bought one with only $20ish

    • MCSAVEE5 on the check out page, very good deal.

  • anyone here not received their package yet?

    • Received a few days ago.

  • Does anyone know if it can be controlled with the Yeelight remote control?
