Kenny Everett Video Show - The Complete Series DVD $12.78 + Delivery ($0 C&C/in-Store) @ JB Hi-Fi

450

2 currently in stock @ Amazon

Erupting onto television in the summer of 1978, The Kenny Everett Video Show was an instant ratings grabber – propelling the subversive, impish DJ to the stardom he had always deserved! Kenny's anarchic mix of manic sketches, musical guests and dance routines – courtesy of raunchy booty-shakers Hot Gossip – created must-see TV, his comic genius running riot as he unleashed a line-up of much-loved, much-mimicked characters including gobby rocker Sid Snot, Gallic sophisticate Marcel Wave and the improbably-handed evangelist, Brother Lee Love! Available for the first time, this set contains all four series (The Kenny Everett Video Show and The Kenny Everett Video Cassette) plus three New Year specials that Kenny made for Thames Television. And there's one thing you can be certain of – it's all done in the best possible taste!

this or the benny hill boxset?

    • -8

      Benny Hill was actually funny…

      • +6

JV once again confirms they have no sense of humour.

      • +1

Totally different humour styles. Benny cracked me up as a kid..like in stiches laughing but its just not the same type of comedy

  • +5

    RIP Kenneth

    • Is he dead?

      • +8

        Everybody's dead, Dave.

      • Yep, the same guy that got Freddy Mercury got Kenny as well. True story.

As for the show, get it.

He did a second lot with a different studio called 'The Kenny Everett Television Show' which kind of dropped off after season 3 but still worth a watch.

        • Yep, the same guy that got Freddy Mercury got Kenny as well. True story.

          Who else did he get?

          • @jv: Not sure, from what I remember he was a pretty popular Russian guy with the boys. Freddy and Kenny were mates and used to hang out together. Freddy even did a cameo on one of his shows.

    This is a steal.

This show was one of the first "adult" shows i was allowed to watch as a kid….I'm going to buy it

Marcel Wave, Cupid Stunt, Angry of Mayfair..Sid Snot…mass of chew sets… HILARIOUS

Lots of entertainment from a time when you could actually laugh at things and not get offended.

I saw him once in a dry cleaners in notting hill… but that's another story
Its baffling how people can find this not funny

I can still do the sid snot "chuck smoke into mouth" pretty well! ;-)

        • +1

Is there anything more to the dry cleaning story?

          • +2

@Punkboy: Haha…nope. was taking in some stuff and he was in the shop. I said hello..he looked rough.

I used to listen to him on Capital as well

        • -1

Cupid Stunt wasn't in this series, She was in The Kenny Everett Television Show.

    • +3

Wait… are you telling me you watched something made decades ago and laughed at it? But that's problematic. YOU'RE problematic! Cancel cancel cancel cancel

      • +1

I would tell you more but…i'd be telling you the plot (crosses legs)

  • +4

    Hot Gossip.

    • +2

      Thanks for the reminder

      • +1

        Very camp…

        • Wow, I just found out they did a song about Starship Troopers, that was on KE, sung by Sarah Brighman

          • @BewareOfThe Dog: Yes, they really pushed the edge with their choreography on that show…

Captain Kremmen: "Carla, let's get something straight between us."
    Carla: "What, here?"

    • +4

      Captain Kremmen: “What’s wrong Carla?”
      Carla: “I’ve been graped!!”
Captain Kremmen: “Don’t you mean raped; Carla?”
Carla: “No! There was a whole bunch of them.”
      Off camera: Chortle.

(From memory; so I may be paraphrasing).

      "Im a country member"
      "Ok I'll remember"
      Lol. Gold..

  • Expected delivery time is more than three weeks to Melbourne suburbs :-(

    • The web site said three weeks for delivery, but I just got an email from Toll that says that "my parcel is out for delivery today".

  • Captain Kremin… Sid Snot… Such nostalgia.

  • +2

    Captain Kremmen
    - The spaceship had wooden walls, wooden ceiling and wooden floor.
    - What was the issue
    - It wouldn’t fly.

    Sid Snot
    - I was down the park feeding the pigeons, to my cat.

Not everything works but, certainly, enough does.

I was in the Bricklayer's Arms last night….he doesn't like to go to the pub, either

  • Thanks OP. Just purchased for $5.98 thanks to my Birthday Perks voucher!

  • And now, before you can say…. https://youtu.be/_3lKOUfsjNI

  • According to the reviews on the JB website this is not really complete.

    • +1

correct.. like a lot of 70s and 80s British shows which featured music, most of the music has gone on to become ingrained in popular culture and costs a fortune to licence, so they are cut out of the DVD releases.

  • +3

    yay.
something that the PC police havent tried to ban yet

    • +1

yeah surely the PC Police would be all over a nearly 40 year old show which didn't make fun of people of colour simply because they're people of colour, or didn't poke fun at homosexuals or transvestites simply because they exist - like most other tv shows of the same era did?

  • Has Ozbargain been taken over, got this weird message when I tried to upvote the deal, had to check a box and everything.

"We have detected a possible link between you and the original poster or the store itself. Please note that if you are in anyway affiliated with this offer, e.g. you are a staff at this store, or if you are a friend/household member of the poster, you should probably stop here, as artificially inflating the votes is categorised as Sockpuppeting on OzBargain."

Needless to say I'm not either. :)

$15.98? What did think I'm made of bricks!

    • At least your piston isn't broke.

  • Mine was shipped yesterday and is out for delivery today!

Seems the grossly inflated delivery time was just a safety measure?

    Winning

  • Price has now dropped to $12.78

    • I think it might be out of stock for delivery though - get "Oops! An error occurred." when trying to check out. May be copies in store, although none near me.

      • +1

I ordered a copy when I made this comment and I just tried ordering it just now and it let me go all the way to the payment screen. Not sure why it's not letting you check out.

        • +1

Tried again just then, and it worked. Yay.
