  • Can you cancel your current Coles card and reapply again?

    • make sure you ask them first, before applying spending and get nada

      • +1

Best approach might be to cancel card now in preparation for future offers. Coles MasterCard doesn't exactly offer much. Actually I should cancel mine to free up credit capacity, and be eligible for future deals.

  • +15

    FYI… 50,000 = $250 and 100,000 = $500

    • +2

      So

No Annual fee card: 50K FB points aka $250 with $0 fee

Rewards Card: 60K FB points aka $300 with $99 fee

No annual fee card is ahead with a net gain of $250 vs $201?

      • +1

Just for bonus offer, yes but if you use it for one year, flybuys accumulated is larger with the rewards card. Depends if you want to keep for a year or cancel just after bonus points.

      • +2

The only value for rewards card is no international surcharge on foreign currency purchases.

Other than that ite a no brainer to go no fee as you need to pay fee twice.

        • Besides the ATM fees overseas, this could well be a worthy replacement for travelers intending to use the Citibank Plus, which will cease to operate towards the end of year.

    • -1

Op wrote the descriptions inconsistently. If you look closely, the no fee card is 50,000 + 20,000 points after 12 months. 70,000 points = $350.

      • -1

But that'll be 2 years of fees

        • +1

          There's literally no fee…

        • 2 x $0 ain't too bad

  • Do the points get paid out when I hit $4,000 or after the 90 day period?

    • I previously held the no annual fee card which had an offer for a bonus 40,000 Flybuys Points with $1500 Spend in 60 Days.
      I applied 2021-07-07
Got the points soon after I hit the spend.
      Cancelled 2021-08-08

    • They’re issued alone with the statement after you hit the spend criteria.

Eligible Transaction means any purchase excluding (but not limited to) Cash Advances, Balance Transfers, Special Promotions, BPAY payments, purchases of foreign currency and travellers cheques, transactions made in operating a business, bank fees and charges such as interest and ATM charges, transactions made using Flybuys Points and government related transactions. Government related transactions include transactions with government or semi-government entities, or relating to services provided by or in connection with government (for example but not limited to transactions made at Australia Post, payments to the Australian Taxation Office, council rates, motor registries, tolls, parking stations and meters, fares on public transport, fines and court related costs).

Please note that whether or not a transaction is an Eligible Transaction will be determined based on information provided either by the merchant or the relevant financial institution (including information about the type of business conducted by the merchant). This means that, for example, spend with certain merchants may be characterised as spend with a government related entity or an investment in shares, and therefore not an Eligible Transaction, even if that merchant is not in fact a government related entity or an investment company.

The definition you have posted applies to earning flybuys points for each dollar spent, not to the $4000 spend to earn the bonus points.

Here is the definition of eligible retail purchases towards the $4000:

You will receive the 60,000 Bonus Flybuys Points, when you spend $4,000 or more on eligible retail purchases (excluding Cash Advances, Balance Transfers, Special Promotions, purchases of foreign currency and travellers cheques, transactions made in operating a business, bank fees and charges such as interest and ATM charges, refunds and chargebacks) in the first 90 days of the Account approval date.

So spend on government services (e.g. council rates) DOES count towards the $4000.

      • Fair point.

      • +1

hmm usually gov services are no no.
        if true, this is fantastic.

better call to make sure.. and call again with diff. agent, to double sure

      • Has anyone confirmed this? I just got off the phone with them and I really don't want to call them back. I was so annoyed I just left the guy on hold until he hung up.

        • -1

The conditions are as posted IN WRITING above. What more do you want?

          • @Cheapskate Paul: Do you entirely trust everything that you read, especially when it seemingly contradicts other terms and conditions and standard practice?

            • @Bdawg: You're right. Much better to trust a call centre worker than something in writing for a specific offer. Go for it.

The credit assessor for this card is Citi Bank/NAB. You can churn if you want but that would mean you have to wait for another maybe 3 - 6 months to churn again with NAB/Citi. Those who applied with Citibank in the last 1 - 3 months - be careful, they might reject you.

Coles unsecured credit products are issued by National Australia Bank Limited (ABN 12 004 044 937, AFSL and Australian Credit Licence 230686) (“NAB”) and distributed by Coles Supermarkets Australia Pty Ltd ABN 45 004 189 708. NAB has acquired the business relating to these products from Citigroup Pty Ltd (ABN 88 004 325 080, AFSL and Australian Credit Licence 238098) (“Citi”) and has appointed Citi to assist to administer the products. Coles receives commission for the introduction of credit business to NAB.

    • I wish you had written that earlier, I just applied for citi yesterday and coles today haha.

      • Let us know of the outcome

        • I'm not too pumped about the citi one, I didn't realise it is $2000 spend using apple pay. I don't even own any apple products so I'm going to have to strategise. Plus not sure what to spend on, it will have to be online as I won't have access to a physical device.

          • +1

@Bdawg: Is this the $600 offer? If so, you don't have to use Apple pay according to the fine print:

To be eligible to receive $600 cashback, you must apply for the Citi Premier Card by 31 May 2023, then spend a minimum of $2,000 on eligible purchases using your new card through Apple Pay or another eligible digital wallet within 90 days from approval. Excludes Cash Advances, Balance Transfers, Special Promotions, interest, fees, refunds and Chargebacks. "Another eligible digital wallet" means Samsung Pay or Google Pay.

            • @BuyLowLetsGo: Excellent, they just declined me though. I think it's because I applied for the coles one too which is also citi.

        • I applied for citi prestige then applied for coles mastercard a few days later. I was declined for the prestige and a day later approved for the coles. Could have been a credit limit issue, prestige was $10k and coles $1k.

          • @Bdawg: i asked ing for $1k then same day applied coles for $1k and still got rejected - BOTH

            • @CyberMurning: They work in mysterious ways! I'm a long term customer with CBA and they rejected me over a $500 credit card haha. I went into the branch and sorted it out, the service staff was bemused and apologetic.

              • @Bdawg: well too bad coles master has no branch.
ing, i did call them but they said its black and white blah blah blah, we dont look at assets blah blah blah i said but its $1k limit come on

  • I have a Coles Rewards card, I wonder if I can qualify for the No fee card too…..or perhaps I will cancel the rewards card first

  • So the point earning rate (converting points to flybuys dollars) is 1% for Rewards Mastercard (ie spend $1000 and get $10 back in flybuys dollars) and 0.25% for No Annual Fee card (spend $1000 and get $2.50 back in flybuys dollars).

    • So would you need to spend a minimum of $9900 a year on the rewards card before you make even on the annual fee?

      • Second year onwards, you get 40k flybuys points = $200 if you keep it for 12 months and points will be credited within 12 weeks

  • who is operating this card after citi sold to NAB?

    • +3

I think you answered your question. NAB.

      • thx~~ i have no issue with my NAB application in the past, but got rejected by citi multiple times(citi, coles, qantas). shall i try my luck now?

        • +1

So long as it’s been more than 6 months since last rejection, go for it

  • So is buying groceries from Woolworths an "eligible transaction"?

    • Dont see why not, also dont forget to stop by Aldi

      • "Don't see why not", yep you'd think so but a direct competitor???? My biggest spend would be at W so if not included would be a waste.

  • I had the no annual fee card a few years ago - then applied for the rewards card (they have to cancel the old one and re-issue - so you need to move across any direct debits) but I got the bonus points (can't remember how many).

  • +2

I got approved in 5mins of submitting the application

  • mmmm - I cancelled a coles card in feb - will I get the bonus?

  • +1

Got turned down by cba for a cc and bankwest for a loan in the last month. What be the chance I should risk further hit on my credit score?

  • Is this still Lattitude? I'm still bitter I got caught up I that hack when I had closed my Coles MasterCard 7 years ago. And they can't tell me what info of mine was breached cause they have shut down their database. To me it sounds like they are still worried that the hackers have access

    • Citi/NAB

  • Coles No Annual Fee Mastercard (0.5 points per dollar)
$260 of profit after meeting spend requirements
    + $260 Flybuys / Coles
    - $0 annual fee

Coles Rewards Mastercard (2 points per dollar)
$241 of profit after meeting spend requirements
    + $340 Flybuys / Coles
    - $99 annual fee

  • I remember they used to cap the eligible spending at $3000 per month. Is it still the case? can't find it in T&C.

    • found it on the website, oh well.

  • +1

    Is there an income requirement?

  • Can you do a Balance Transfer to satisfy the spend requirement?

  • +1

    No annual Fee
    50K = 250
    Purchase Aud4k = 2k = 10
    Y2 = 20k = 100
    Total value 1Y = 260
    Total value 2Y = 360

    Reward with 99 fee
    60K = 300
    Purchase aud4K = 8k = 40
    Y2 = 40k = 200
    Total Value 1Y = 241
    Total Value 2Y = 342

The above I base on you only spend AUD4K.

    • yeah the no fee is better, more $ with same spending

  • The citi one is $300 annual fee, just want to ask do you still need to pay it if you cancel it straight way after the cash back?

  • I need a cc for overseas travel this year would the rewards card be a good offer? Or is their better out there?

    • I mean you can just get a fee free one like 28 Degrees.

  • Coles rewards is a good one if you want flybuy points. Or just get the no annual fee coles card and call up 2 weeks before you depart ro upgrade it free for 12mths to try but not sure if they are still doing this since nab took over?

  • Sorry this is slightly off topic. I am looking for recommendation for an Android app to store Flybuys, Everyday Rewards, etc. I often missed flybuys points because I don't bring the card. Would be good to have one app for all of those. Thank you.

    • +2

You can store these directly in Google Wallet (just manually type in Flybuys card number)….also you can download the woolies rewards app to store that one as well….

      • So Google Wallet will store Everyday Reward as well?

        • +1

Yes. If you have a Google Pixel it automatically does that for you for all rewards card it detects in your Gmail

          • @PeeDee: That's cool … unfort not a Google Pixel user … Android but not Google Pixel :-|

    • I printed my flybuys barcode onto a thermal label and stuck it on the front of my card. that way i will never forget to use it. If you have a printer you could probably do the same with some sticky tape and a paper printout.

    • +2

Stocard. I have on my phone and it stores all my loyalty cards. Have it on my Apple Watch too. Not sure about android watches but you can get on your android phone.

    • but to use flybuys dollars (after you convert from points to dollar in the app) you need to bring physical card.
any work around on this ? one less card to carry is better

  • good deals

  • anyone knows what income evidence required if applying for company?

    • Last payslip (less than 45 days old)

  • Rejected lol….

    • Do you mind sharing some details of your application? Credit limit you applied for? Your yearly income. Your expenses per week. Just so I have an idea whether I would get approved lol.

      • +1

cant share much but i always ask for the lowest limit if they give option.

        • I had a high limit but then I just changed it to lower after getting approved

  • +1

How do you verify your identity? I rang them and they told me it was approved and I would get a letter in the mail about verifying my identity?

    • +1

      huh.. weird
usually just an email with link to upload documents and ids.
unless they dont believe you exist so you need to go to JP or post office so they can see you are indeed a real person

      • +1

She said i'd have to go into the sheriff's office. … not sure if scam lol.

        • +2

what… just reply are you lucky luke ???

if the staffs has indian accent, then its real.
nowadays the scammers are coming with British accent

  • +1

Does anybody know if a Beemit transaction is considered a cash advance through this credit card? I have heard that some cards consider it a cash advance.

    • +1

Citi is usually not strict with this kind of transaction.

  • Just got approved with credit limit of 30,000. I really don't need that much… :) first time get such limit…

    • always try to ask for minimum during application unless you really need specific amount.
bank didnt offer that option long time ago but then new law i think made it mandatory to let people decides

fyi i got rejected with asking $1,000
      probably should ask $30k haha

      • Oh sorry to hear that.. I am not enterring the limit by myself. Just leave the Coles to decide.. I will keep it as backup card in case I need big amout of money. But of course, I will buy the air tickets for the family to get those flybuy porints rewards.

        • lucky you… just a tip, once you get the points, close the card. wait 6 months for the next promotion, repeat

  • Hi guys
How long does it take for them to process the application? Applied on 19th 'May and still haven't received or hear anything from them. Also I uploaded latest payslip at then end of the application when got a prompt to upload documents.
    Still no outcome.

    • +1

I applied on the Friday, and the following Monday, got the call from them, and few days later with all the income document provided just got approved. should be quick.. I am using it now.. good luck

      • Just tried to call customer support to know the status and what I'm hearing from automated service is" We have recognized you from the mobile number you're calling from. Please enter your last 4 digits account number or card number"
But I got none. Neither there is way to speak to customer support as well…🤷‍♂️🤦🏽

  • I have my coles reward card for two years, need to pay fee again by late July, what is the chance ask them to give me this promotion, if I cancel, my wife is already the additional card holder, can she apply?

  • Cancelled my acct, my wife applied and approved. Reward card is good as conversion rate is better and no international transaction fee.

    • yeah just rotate you two can have 1 card at a time no big diff. get the bonus cancel wait 6 months re apply rinse repeat. make sure select the lowest limit

    • +2

What credit card doesn't charge the annual fee upfront? I thought it was pretty normal that the fee is charged upfront.

      • Think I’ve had credit cards previously that have waived first year fees. Thanks for clarifying. Will repost my comment lol

  • Minus the annual fees, you are really profiting $300 in Flybuys points yet need to spend $4000 in 90 days to get this and then wait a year too.

You are better off going with a deal like CBA’s where only $1000 spend is required in 90 days for $250 cashback and it has no annual fees for the first year: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/779433

  • well shit, what do ii do if already have the card/?
