  • great. time to switch my electricity

    • Hey Robin2012, You can compare your old bill and find out the best suitable retailer according to your address and meter type. Please go through Switch via https://www.econnex.com.au/ozbargain-econnex/.

  • Perfect, I was just looking at SB/CR for energy deals. And also Alinta for their kayo deal.

  • What are the power usage and feed in rates

  • Tango giving $150 credit off first bill too. Thanks OP

    • Hey herecomestheoost, Happy to help! Cheers!

    • Disappointed, missed out on this extra $150 from Tango.

    • where does it show the $150 credit, can't see it when doing a comparison?

      • Hey huntress_love, Tango is offering $150 credit on the 1st bill, only in Victoria for the gas switch only.

        • is that through econnex as well, so if i click on the above link and switch to tango, i'll get the $150 off the gas bill and the $100 giftcard?

          • @huntress_love: huntress_love, yes that is correct, as Tango's $150 credit on the 1st bill is the retailer's offer, which makes you eligible for both offers.

            • @Manyo: i applied to switch my gas last month with econnex but it hasn't gone through yet, can I cancel that one and put in a new application to switch to Tango instead?

              • @huntress_love: huntress_love, please share your old reference number in order to cross-check.

            • @Manyo: I'm already with Tango for my electricity and gas. Can I switch to Tango for gas again thru Econnex to get $150 credit for gas and $100 woolworths gift card?

  • @manyo

Is the "Super Solar" plan from Powershop not available via Econnex? I can sign up to it for my address directly from the Powershop website, but Econnex does not even list the plan in the comparison (it only shows the "100% Carbon Neutral" one, which is way more expensive).

    • Hey david8, we don't compare every plan from every retailer, and the Super Solar plan is Powershop's exclusive offer that isn't visible on the Econnex website. However, Econnex provides a range of solar-specific plans from other retailers that you may compare and select from. Please go through https://www.econnex.com.au/ozbargain-econnex/ to find your rates.

  • Data. Not. Safe.

    • How. So. ? How's this Deal different?

Having successfully signed up many times with Econnex, it requires far less personal data than signing up for a phone SIM.
      Never had a problem.

Needs name (shown as current account holder on electricity bill), address (to connect electricity) & phone number.

Without that valid info, you don't have the authority necessary to switch energy retailers, so don't qualify for this Deal.

      • Hey Rather be Travelling, thank you so much for your support. we appreciate it.

We have been explaining the same thing on each deal we post.

        • For many, OzBargain best practice is to sign up to Deals with temporary email, false name, address, etc. Many don't like sharing personal data!

Then people complain they didn't get what was offered in a Deal like this - requiring authority to swap retailers…

Spent the $100 Woolies gift cards from last Deal👍

Read the history of OP's posts. I went through Econnex and they sent me an excel spreadsheet of ~800 Econnex users - ALL their data - by mistake.
Also their terms clearly stipulate that they can give your personal (100 points) data to pretty much anyone.

        • What are you talking about??

Have never provided 100pt personal data.
And I've done many electricity swaps with Econnex.
          They have never requested it.
I would not provide it!! It's not needed.

I've been checking most Econnex electricity Deal since they started posting here. Never saw anything about data issues in those posts!

So can't see how you claim you saw 100pt personal data for 800 people swapping electricity / gas in these Deals!

Also their terms clearly stipulate that they can give your personal (100 points) data to pretty much anyone.

          Not quite right…
As a third party business arranging swapping energy accounts for people to numerous providers, they need to pass on the information necessary to show:
          * you have authority to change seller (your name is on account)
          * address to provide the electricity / gas (which links with your meter number)
          * contact details (email & phone number) - legally the reseller needs to provide you with the contract, your rates & fees, & important information.

That is not 100pts of personal information as you claim!!
Just what we would need to provide to an energy retailer, if contacting them directly!

Econnex would be reimbursed for attracting a new customer to sign up.
And we get a benefit (like with other cash back businesses here).

            @INFIDEL: You do you

            • +1

              @Sapiens: I regularly do!
It pays for my electric bills 👍

              • -2

                @INFIDEL: 👍

                • @Sapiens: I'm cautious about personal data.

But what is provided to Econnex in this Deal is not the 100pt of personal data you discuss. So fairly irrelevant here.

Rather it's similar to offers of free sample etc to be sent - requires basic contact details. Only difference is fake name etc won't work.

        • +1

Hi Sapiens, thank you for your comment, please note, no such incident ever happened on Econnex's end.

The instance you mentioned was an error from a 3rd party who was fulfilling the promotion.
As you would note, action was taken immediately to remedy the error. Econnex takes data security very seriously and since then we have put addition security controls over our customers data to ensure this isn't repeated by us or others.

  • op, if I already used econnex to move to AGL value saver before, can I still "move" to AGL and get the giftcards?

    • Hey hhbb555, as per the terms and conditions, customers who acquired an Energy connection from any retailer through Econnex Comparison within the previous 60 days will not be eligible for this promotion.

Please keep a note of the terms and conditions, and if you qualify, you will be good to make the switch.

      • Is it 60 days since when we signed up and received the Econnex confirmation email? Or is it 60 days since the transfer has actually happened?

        • +1

Hey A2E2, it's 60 days since the transfer has actually happened.

        • +1

There's a 2 week wait (10 business days cooling off period) before change of retailer occurs. You will be notified by new retailer.
          Then remain for min 60d.

Have been swapping electricity retailer about every 3 months.

Between these Deals & State Govt rebates - I effectively have no electricity costs. (Low usage, no solar, electric only house)

          • @INFIDEL: Thanks mate, the gas transfer seems to be very slow though.
Signed up for gas with Econnex on 20 Jan, received the "Transfer of Account Complete Notice" email from the retailer on 12 April.

            • @A2E2: Thats so slow! Saw that gas is slow - guess its up to meter readers - at next read time.
No gas pipes in my area, so no option.

            • @A2E2: Hey A2E2, unfortunately, the transfer of the gas is based on an estimated meter read, transfer only happens when the meter read is due in order to generate the last bill, all the processing is done through the retailer's end only.

  • Thanks OP for posting this. Perfect timing as I'm switching houses soon. Much appreciated. Two quick questions:
    1. Is the deal valid if I select switching houses as well at the beginning?
    2. Can we avail the offer if say we switch on a future date, for e.g. sometime in May?

    • +1

      Hey mate,

      1. yes, as per our terms and conditions, this offer is available for all transfer connections and move-in connections, in simple words, this ongoing offer will be valid if you select the move-in option(select switching house).

      2. yes, you can choose your move-in date in future, please note there will be an option in the journey to choose the move-in date, don't miss that or else your application will be submitted ASAP.

      • Thanks for clarifying that. Cheers!!

      • Is there a limitation of a future move date? Assuming I would still be eligible for the gift card for a move in around 1 month's time?

I just saw that the deal is only eligible for "existing customers of Simply, AGL, ActewAGL and EnergyAustralia customers to update the plans."

How does this work with a move where it is not an update to the plan, it is a new connection?

        • Hey Matta955, the limitation of a future move date is 30 days from the signup.

This offer is available for all transfer connections and move-in connections.

In simple words, you can choose the move-in date till the end of May then you will be eligible for this deal and if you are moving house, your application will be considered as a move-in connection.

  • always wonder if engery company's credit check will hurt our credit score or not?

    • Hey baron33, A utility company checks your credit report and can only be used to create a credit score for the purpose of determining eligibility. All credit check information is highly confidential at the retailers' end and is not to be meant to disclose. So we have no way to check whether a credit check will hurt your credit score or not.

    • Hasn't affected my excellent credit rating. Have been swapping about every 3 months.

  • If I switch my elec to one company and gas to another, will I get $100 Woolworths Store Bonus eGift Card for each.. so two cards?

    • Hey MdMa7, yes, you will get $100Woolworths Store Bonus eGift Card for each, you can choose electricity to one retailer and gas through another retailer, so yes you will receive $200 Woolworths Store Bonus eGift Card, please make sure you only click through the link provided in the campaign.

  • Can someone confirm If I don't have a smart meter I would have to pay for the meter read by the current provider before I switch right?

    • Hey nokia3660, You will transfer based on an estimated meter read, your next meter read or your previous meter read if the actual meter reading is not available, and you will not be charged for that. If you request the actual meter reading before the switch takes place only then the retailer may charge a special read fee.

      • ah okay. I was under the impression that the retailer I am leaving will insist on an actual read before I exit.

  • OP or anyone else, does anyone know why there might be such a big difference between the cheapest providers offered by econnex and the Victorian government energy comparison website?

I've used econnex in another offer so I'm open to using them. But the difference between the results it came up with and the government site is a bit of a mystery.

Is there only a select panel with econnex?

Note, I did not upload my full bill details to the econnex site. Perhaps I will try that and see if it makes a difference (possibly due to volume discounts?)

    • Hey huggsymersh, unfortunately, we do not compare all brands in the market or all products offered by all brands. At times certain brands or products may not be available or offered to you.

      • Thanks for the clarification Manyo.

Transparency is important with these services. I do wish it was a little clearer, even if it may make the service a little less attractive. For example, if there are cheaper providers, then a $200 rebate may not actually be worthwhile in the long run. But if you are aiming to sign up with 'X' provider anyway, I can appreciate that a rebate is handy and the service attractive.

        • huggsymersh, we offer a platform where you can compare your energy deals, No obligation to sign up, and it’s 100% free to use! hence, you can always compare your old bill and switch through us only if is suitable for you.

    • Hey iamchriss, kindly DM us your email address so that we can crosscheck the issue.

  • If I am already with Powershop and sign up to a powershop plan through this comparison website would I still be eligible for the gift card?

    • Hey organisedocd, unfortunately, as per the terms, this offer is available for all existing customers of Simply, AGL, ActewAGL and EnergyAustralia customers to update the plans.

In simple words, Powershop does not allow retention/ upgrade of the plans, In order to be eligible for this promotion you have to switch to the other retailer.

  • Page not exist?
    expired?

    • dang it, was gonna do it tomorrow :( lol

    • It appeared the deal expired around 9:50pm last night. Missed it too.

  • +1

should mention expiry date as wouldn't have waited until today to do it if I knew it expired earlier

  • I know this is expired but in case anyone here has experience with cashrewards cashback for energy companies. Recently signed up for a gas and it's already paid out but terms say I'm supposed to stay for 75 days. My electricity is still long way from paying out oddly enough.
Wonder if it matters now or if it's detrimental if I churn to another gas provider early
