Still no Gold Coast flights with Air Asia?

    • +1

      Unfortunately, that is correct.

      • +2

Have a voucher to use from cancelled AA flight paid for in Feb 2020😢

    • No Air Asia… No more Scoot….
      :(

      • No….Just Scoot is about to leave.
AirAsia: There are 6 flights every week to Gold Coast

Currently over $600 return to KL.
Direct flights, just not at these prices.

  • The bags are almost half the cost of the human!

Why bother checkin a bag? We went for 2 weeks in Feb (KL Ipoh Penang Malacca) with carryon only and didn't even wear all the clothes we brought.

      • +1

How much can you realistically carry on?

        • +2

Think it was 7kg each. It's a hot country, don't need many clothes, and we don't bother buying useless touristy trinket crap on holidays so we managed just fine.

          • +1

            @slknv: Carry-on 7kg in AA app.
From past experience, clothes are cheap in KL. Bought a linen shirt.
Just took carry on many times.

      • @slknv: "Why bother checkin a bag? We went for 2 weeks in Feb (KL Ipoh Penang Malacca) with carryon only and didn't even wear all the clothes we brought."

… I hope you enjoyed your time at the naturist resort!

This has clearly established one thing: You and me…. we are not the same!

I think i'd take nearly 7kg of tech alone between either laptop or tablet (depending on trip), chargers/adaptors, used to be digital SLR (although probably will save on that next time with better smart phone), Li-ion battery pack for devices, etc. I think I almost always take a spare pair of shoes + thongs/flip-flops, some toiletries (as I won't rely on what is provided or sourced locally + some basic first aid/medicinal stuff), and usually try to have enough clothes to either go the whole trip without washing or just doing it once if a longer trip with a bit of a mix of formality (e.g. shorts & long pants, dress shirt and t-shirts, range of socks etc), cold weather layers (jackets, raincoats etc), swimming stuff, ample underwear, sleepwear, etc etc - but obviously depends on the destination and trip plans. However I do not find it hard to fill a checked bag for anything over a week trip, and use basically all of it without need to buy much else! … Go for 4 weeks+ and by the time I come home with stuff I've bought I worry about the weight limit for the checked bag!

PS - hot country may mean not too many clothes layers, but they must have stunk with just a couple of changes, or you spent a lot of time washing and drying!

  • Hi people. I have a question relating to carry on.

Is the limit 7kgs or 10kgs? Whenever I travelled before (like pre-covid) they allowed 10kgs if you have a laptop in the bag. And you could carry two bags (like a cabin and a camera/handbag for example).

    What's the rule now?

    • +1

Air Asia app shows includes 7kg carry-on.

  • Some seats left much earlier at those prices if you hunt.

How does the airasia system work? I selected the $139 outgoing fare, but return shows as $164 until selected, then cost is $104. So you need to click on every date to find the discounted fare.

  • Why does the fare change to $446 from $309 per person when I change from 1 traveller to 2 adults 1 child travellers?

    • They may have had only one or two seats left at the lower price. Airline pricing is insanely complex. They will allocate x seats at y price.

  • Just heads up, Air Asia does not seems to have customer service or support anymore and replaced by chatbot.

  • Is there any way to search cheapest business class seats across a specific date range? or month?

or any other sites that might do something like that?

  • These flights are with AirAsiaX.

AirAsiaX did not honour the tickets I bought in 2019.

Then AirAsiaX cancelled all flights and restructured wiping out 99.4% of their debts, including to passengers like me.

Now, AirAsiaX only offer me credit for the fare component of the ticket, not the total cost of the ticket.

    • Am in same situation.
Most of these prices are taxes & charges.

    • Me too.

I will most likely take a one way flat bed next year with my $1100 voucher.

And come back on another airline.
