    you can scan and add the eSIM in Australia to get it ready in Japan, the internet won't work but the activation date will start.

    best to scan the eSIM just before you leave on your flight there.

  Any idea what the network coverage between providers is like? I'll be visiting mainly major/metro areas on both coasts, but considering driving between some cities (so outside of the large cities during these trips).

    Using the Movistar 10GB plan as example: If you land in Spain first used 10GB and go to Portugal you will still have 10GB to used in Portugal, if you go to Portugal first and used 10GB you will have 30GB left in Spain.

If I purchase the 38gb sim card (https://www.travelkon.com.au/product/europe-uk-and-usa-trave…) - will the data used in Spain be taken off the 150gb Spain allowance or taken from the 38gb pool first?
