Any way to connect this to a Behringer UMC22 and Edifier MR4 on my pc setup?

Im terrible at understanding how to connect hifi.

    • Going by the images, UMC22 USB out -> USB in to PC. You need to download the drivers for the PC to recognise the UMC22
      2 x Analog outputs from UMC22 TRS L/R -> MR4 TRS L/R input

Got two of these, spare yourselves a rebuy, get the larger and better model ie 10 or pref a 12". Two eights just isn't enough.

    • +3

If you like bass get 12", would be your go to. Don't ever buy a 8" sub, the only reason you would buy an 8" is if you have little room.

10" would be good for most people, that's the general rule imho

      • -5

10inch isn't that low of a frequency, 12inch is optional, 15" is overkill and too low.

        • +11

Size doesn't have anything to do with how low they play. Size is about SPL.

    • +2

You don't buy two subs necessarily for more bass, you buy two to smooth out the bass.

      • +4

🤣🤣 buy 3 so it's smoother than smooth

        • Mr Kenny G here

I have two sixers lol Enough bass for my study 😂

  • -3

Only 8"? I'll need at least 6 of these to get enough wubs.

Now that I say it, that sounds like the theme of a video on a very NSFW site….

    Gonski.

My sub is only 5.25" :(

    • +2

Nothing wrong with that - I use a dual 5.25" subwoofer in an apartment and it is perfectly fine without annoying the neighbours. It also helps to invest some of the savings to acoustically treat the room.

If you have the space and budget sure get a larger subwoofer but not everyone needs a SVS SB-1000, the space or money for one :)

      • It's from an old logitech x-530 set, I just bought a r1700bt though so I won't be able to connect it without some fudgery. I'm hoping having two 4" are comparable to just the one 5.25"

      • There's such a thing as 5" subs?! That's the size of a decent bookshelf driver.

Multiple subs don't give moar bass, they just exist to smooth out room nulls in your typical rectangular shaped rooms. Not something to worry about with 5" drivers as they won't be pumping out a load of 40Hz that results in nulls every six or so feet.

If you're going to treat a room for bass, you're looking at 2 foot thick bass traps in the corners. Again, not something for a small apartment space.

I have a tiny subwoofer built-in my Yamaha amplifier and it shakes the room (25sqm cinema room). Not sure what kind of rooms would need two massive subwoofers.

      • A long time ago a relative had the old Bose Lifestyle subwoofer for their small apartment and when they upgraded to a Richter when they moved into a basement theatre room and it was night and day difference as was the price and size increase.

I use a small subwoofer to accentuate and separate bass away from the soundbar and allows the latter to take care of the mids and highs (it does this automatically when combined) and it is more than enough personally to run titles Top Gun Maverick. I also still have an old YAS soundbar in a spare room that does not do bass well and could do with one of these.

Everybody has a different budget, size consideration and audio preference not sure how a post about a $199 subwoofer for small rooms and/or to compliment existing Yamaha soundbar or home theatre speaker owners turned into a comparison with +10" models.

I do think this was a steal at this price - used models go for similar pricing and it has some advantages/disadvantages over more software centric home theatre/soundbar setups i.e. I have a work colleague who does not like Sonos due to how propriety it is, whereas another feels the exact opposite.

In the space this subwoofer competes in there are not many other good competitors but I do think anybody who snagged one got a good deal :)

        • and it was night and day difference as was the price and size increase.

But this doesn't answer the question. Better quality gear will sound better, but how big a room do you need to require more than one sub? I've got a Paradigm 2.1 with an 8" sub that fills my 40m2 man cave easily and even annoys the neighbours it's that loud. The sound is crisp and goes so loud I keep it mostly on really low volume. A friend of mine has some B&W stand speakers with 6.5" drivers and it easily fills his 70m2 living space. Both of these produce quality sound at high volumes, So unless you have a stadium sized living room, why would you ever need more than one sub? Higher quality gear yes, more than one sub no.

    • This compared to an Edifier r1280db or r1380db?

      • dunno thats why im posting…

    • There have more power but not the BT.

  • +3

Bought this when they were $250 on amazon to go with B5.2 speaker, they do add bass but it's not that good, just ok.
These are very subtle/subdued thumps, nothing like the 8inch sub from the z680 I have in another room which can literally shake the room.

In hind sight probably not worth the money for me personally.

    Output Power - 50 W (100 Hz, 5 ohms, 10% THD)

    Ouch.
