  • For a second I thought it was the TI. Unfortunately there is a huge non-sense gap between this and the TI

  • This or 6950xt? RT performance is about even (dlss off) but the 6950 has far better overall performance and more vram. The only reason I'm hesitating is because of Dlss. I think nvidia has done well with this technology.

    • If thinking about 6950xt may aswell hodl for 7900xtx (imo, i am)

    • FSR 2 is a solid competitor to DLSS 2. DLSS still has better overall quality especially at lower resolutions (less relevant at the high end), but not to the extent that I'd make a purchase on the basis of it. Hardware Unboxed did a recent video comparing the two in detail.

DLSS 3 is neat, but still quite niche in terms of actual usefulness, given its limitations. FSR 3 is also likely to release later this year, although if it's anything like DLSS, Nvidia are likely to retain a lead in quality.

I'd agree with Godric though that if you're thinking about a 6950xt at $1099, you should have a good look at a 7900xt (or a 4070 ti) for less than a hundred more.

    4090's MSRP of $1,599 usd +tax
    4080's MSRP of $1,199 usd +tax
    4070ti's MSRP of $800 usd +tax
    4070's MSRP of 600usd +tax

    recent australain deal :

    Gigabyte RTX 4090 GAMING OC $2564 ~ 1,719.42usd
    Gigabyte RTX4080 16GB Gaming OC $1679 ~ 1125usd
    Inno3D X3 GeForce RTX 4070 Ti 12GB $1173 ~ 786usd

so 4070 should able to do 600usd or lower ~ 900aud

    HOLD !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      Nice one, good work

People should also be aware that Nvidia has very conciously priced the MSRP of the 40XX series to be significantly higher compared to that of the 30XX series.

So even when taking into consideration inflation along with the relative increase in performance, Nvidia is absolutely price gouging the consumer and are using the inflated prices of GPUs over the past few years as an excuse for the higher prices.

They're hoping that consumers have been "conditioned" to this kind of price gouging and will eat up the 4070 due to it providing slightly better value compared to the disgustingly high prices that Nvidia pushed with the rest of the series.

And on top of that, over the past few years Nvidia has steadily been charging AIBs (Asus, Gigabyte, etc.) higher prices to manufacture the non-reference cards, which has resulted in AIBs receiving increasingly slimmer margins over the years to such an extent that we have seen large players such as EVGA having no choice but to exit the market.

Also the MSRP that Nvidia provides is for the reference 4070 card which doesn't even (profanity) exist, putting further pressure on AIBs to tighten their margins even more if they actually want to sell GPUs for a "reasonable" price.

TLDR: (profanity) Nvidia. Buy either AMD, or new/old 30XX series GPUs.

      HODL.

Oh another amd boy. Join the club. Probably vaccine hesitant as well?

    • HOLD !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      Its HODL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Careful with this if you are in a rush…. "FREE International delivery May 18 - 23"

You may get it a bit sooner, but still reckon the price would of potentially dropped by then!

  • IMO CL28 5600mhz is better

  • +2

A 4070Ti seems like the go at near on $1k if you want a Team Green card. A fair bit of performance/longevity jump.

  • +1

Still waiting for a good price ….

  • +2

Thanks OP, bought the MSI one.

  • Do I sell my old GPU before or after I buy

    • Have you consulted your own brain? What does it say?

    • Definitely before even if you have an iGPU. You'll appreciate your new GPU more.

  • -2

Amd shills . I want 16gb. Why ? Your card is crap and massively power inefficient

  • -1

You have to admit this pricing is reasonable. 890$ 2020 dollars

  • +1

For someone who still deciding or dont know how this GPU compare to others. This 25mins may help a bit.
    https://youtu.be/XSABGw92NBM

Myself will not pay $1000 for a GPU in 2023 that performs very similar to 6800xt and 3080, especially with only 12G VRAM.

  • Before NVIDIA changed the 4080 into 4070ti this was probably gonna be the 4060ti.

Also lot of people hating on this card but all reviews say this is the best value card released so far for performance to price

    • Maybe if you live in the USA? It's not $599 USD here

      • +2

599 usd converted to aud is 892~. Add in 10% tax this price is not unreasonable considering how much oz tax we pay on other electronics.

Of course early adopters tax still goes applies on these, but certainly not a bad deal at all.

        • I meant to say this would have been the 4070ti. Since 4070ti was 4080

  • Get a 4070ti, worth to invest.

  • Remember, pretend it's a 3080 for performance, pretty much.

Technically, this just pips a 4070ti at $1199, doesn't feel like good value though.

  • +2

Happy I got my rx 7090 xt for $1180

  • +3

Waiting for 4070 Ti at $1000 and not the inno3d crap.

    • You’ll be waiting until 2024 :)

      • Then 50 series it is

  • Plenty of stock and even small discounts just days after release. Haven't seen a GPU launch like this in a while. This card landed like a wet fart. Nvidia finally realising the 30 series scalper prices were in a crypto boom, and this is a recession.

Just imagine if they got away with the '4080 12GB' shenanigans. This card would then be the 4070 Ti, and get the U$700-800 MSRP. Even worse value.

      https://www.tomshardware.com/news/nvidia-reportedly-takes-ti….

Nvidia's backend service providers are reportedly not seeing the increased orders for testing and packaging of its latest GeForce RTX 40-series GPUs based on the Ada Lovelace architecture, says DigiTimes. They believe that the company is taking its time and letting its partners sell off any remaining GeForce RTX 30-series inventory before supplying them the latest generation graphics chips.

Nvidia is still wanting their retailers to clear out stock of the 3000 series. Looking at some retailers in Au, the RTX 3080 is now mostly out of stock and EOL, but the RTX 3060, 3060Ti and 3070 remains largely in stock.

If they released a sub $1000 4000 series card in Australia that would likely cannibalize all the sales of the pre-existing stock.

Stock which is nearly 2.5 years old.

      • +1

Some of the 30XX pricing is still ridiculous. 3070 for $800-900 on PCCG? No one will be buying that unless checkout error. They're literally going to have to halve that, unless they want 30 cards warming shelves for the next decade.

  • my RTX2060 6gb still going fine and handles all the games I wanted, and most importantly can run stable diffusion just fine, I will hold until 16gb vram card drops somewhere near 1k

  • +1

Waiting for 3070's to go <$400 on ebay, and will grab one of them. Should be pretty soon

  • Gigabyte WindForce OC triple fan added to deal

  • With ray tracking turned on I am finding my GPU is using over 11gb of VRAM at 1080 modern games. The 12gb of VRAM on this card is not adequate.

  • GIGABYTE Windforce 3-fan OC card cheaper on eBay, $929.00 with SNS4 targeted code. Pay for it with 10% off Discounted Swap Celebration GC bought from Shopback deal at 3PM today.

    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/175688357018?

  • Friend bought a 3060 12gb for $550 to use the VRAM for a project. I can't believe they are still so expensive.

  • +1

    Don't buy 4070 / 4070 Ti until they make 16gb versions. :D
