Surfshark VPN: 98% Cashback (New Customers Only) @ ShopBack

391

A decent cashback for this vpn. 98% cashback.

Essentially only 2% + any foreign transaction charge (free if you use a 0% international transaction fee DC/CC) for this service.

Key benefit with this is that unlimited devices.
Has decent locations for use too.

So yeah easy vpn access in multiple devices.

Have heard from past one can just sign up to new plan using a new email id to be considered new customer. AND can also just choose another country at checkout to avoid GST charges (or donation to company/government).

Although I would also recommend people using a new CC, and Name for that new account plan too

Cashback stacks with the coupon codes SHOPBACK or sharkspecial for 2-year plan for US$59.76.

Have it for a few years now, decent product

    • Same here, I’ve tried other ones too and found this to be the best on all fronts

  • Does not work in public schools, otherwise decent

    • Not many would. You'd probably need something over https to work. And they'll probably block their ip range. Have you had any success?

  • is it good to use Turkey or India Netflix?

    • Yes for Turkey. Only virtual servers are available for India (Mumbai n Delhi).

  • Hi OP
Is it New Customers Only for shopback or Surfshark account. I already have shopback account, can I use the existing one and Surfshark with new email id.
    Thanks in advance.

    • I think new Surfshark account

  • Are these guys better than CyberGhost

Anyone got thier cashback tracked? I wasn’t aware I used SurfShark before as free user (using app), but signup for this with new email and new credit card. But haven’t got any update from Shopback. It’s been a few hours.

    • +1

Mine also not yet tracked. As per shopback it may take up-to 2 days. I guess just wait 2 days.

      • Thanks mate. Keep me posted. I’ll do the same. Looks like not alot of ozbargainers jump on this.

        • Mine tracked today, received confirmation email.

    • These probably take longer to track, and its SB you shouldn't have high expectation on tracking speeds, expect some delays in tracking

  • This work with kayo when overseas? Couldn't get a couple of VPNs to work last time I was in Thailand with kayo

  • Can I use different payment currency (Bitcoin, AUD, CNY)? Or just USD?

    • you can pay however you want, but your cashback will be based on USD conversion to AUD

  • Hi OP, where should I use the code "SHOPBACK" ?
On Surfshark, it automatically applied "SHARKSTART" to give some 80 odd % off.
    thanks

    • If you want to make the most with the cashback, I would follow the terms on shopbacks cashback page "- Use only promo codes from ShopBack
So that would be SHARKSPECIAL or SHOPBACK

    • probably best to remove that and only use SHOPBACK, as per SB website, may be do another click through SB, (where it shows coupon in SB website, then Surfshark should automatically apply code SHOPBACK

These are the ones you really hope track

    So is this correct deal 83% off is $3.67aud month =$88.08 aud for 24 months - 98% shopback = $17 & change for 24 months $aud ?

    • Some CC providers may charge international trans fee too (reasoning merchant is outside Australia) Although most should not IMO.

Apart from which the deal should be

USD$59.76 spent, USD $58.56cashback (converted into aud), total cost USD$1.2 plus currency exchange charges (probably works around <$1.8-$4 AUD after everything)

      • I got charged some tax, bringing it for USD 65.74….
can Op pls put that in title? or was it only me?

        • I got charged about $88 few cents (surfshark plan fees only), by selecting Afghanistan as my country to avoid GST (so no tax). However shopback only tracked $84.37. So comes to about $3.7 (not bad but should have been around $1.75) instead of tracking 98% cashback as mentioned in deal. Anybody else faced similar issue?

        • already in description, may be you forget to check

can also just choose another country at checkout to avoid GST charges (or donation to company/government).

  • I really need to renew my Surfshark, my current account will expire in a few weeks.
But I haven't had any luck with cash returns in recent years. They just won't track. Which way would be more successful? Through android app or through browser in windows?

    • +1

i personally always recommend using chromium browser (ensure no VPN, ad blockers on network, modem, browser etc.), can install their annoying cashback chromium extension too if you want.

Nevertheless go through via the Shopback website directly and make sure to do a screen recording of the entire transaction (just in case)- Simply using

Xbox game bar in windows (windows start key + G)

Thanks mate. After 1.5 years I received a tracking confirmation email from a cash returns provider

Not having any luck with the SHOPBACK code to get 98%. Most I'm getting is 81%.

    • +1

Cashback is 98%, not the discount ;-)

      • Yep, I'm a dummy. Realised that much later. Thanks!

Just a heads up about Surfshark - I've been with them for the last 2 years and recently got an email saying they were going to resubscribe me. I went to my account to cancel my subscription, only to find that the auto renewal button was PERMANENTLY ON - it was greyed out and I couldn't change it. In the end I had to write to support asking to get it cancelled but instead of just doing it for me, they sent me a short survey to fill in before I could finally get it turned off! What a joke. Why should I have to write to support just to cancel an auto renewal?!?

Pulling shit like this is not on, and companies with such practices don’t deserve ongoing business. This is a deliberate business decision to make it difficult for clients to leave and thereby trap them into spending more $$. This is not a new practice and they've been receiving bad reviews about this for a while now which makes it a pure profit grab – subscribers who get pissed off and leave are obviously not worth the same amount as subscribers they manage to trick into staying on for an extra subscription period through making it unnecessarily difficult to cancel.

Further, their emails have no unsubscribe button! Once again I wrote to support to get taken off their email lists, and once again they didn't do it, but required me to log back into my account and follow instructions to delve 3 levels into their menus to find all the different types of emails and unclick each box (no unsubscribe all). But worst of all, there was yet another "transactional messages" box which was again greyed out, and I could not unsubscribe from. I have written to support again - this is not yet resolved. I have reported them to ACMA in the meantime as not having an unsubscribe button is a a breach of Australian regulations.

So hopefully this will make a few people aware of what sort of company Surfshark is, and you might want to reconsider signing up with a company that engages in such blatant disregard for good customer service.

I guess disposable cards exists only for such purposes, can also cancel DC/CC card too to avoid charge going through.

    • Thanks for the heads up. I just “turned off” the auto-renewal. Not too tedious the process but yea, agree with you that they should just simply have the toggle button available
