Hi @Manyo i still havent received the gift card yet. My service was activated in October last year. Please help me to check, my application reference is 1665365986. Thanks!

Ignore the customer and they'll forget about the gc, probably that's what it's about

      • Hey yaaNaa, we have a few terms and conditions to keep a track of, and if everything is done as per the terms, you wouldn't have to contact us, But the customers miss out on the details, so they miss out on the gift card. Here are a few T&Cs step by step to keep in mind.

        1. Always use the link provided in the promo, which helps us to track the application, if that is not done correctly, then the CX will not receive the gift card

        2. you have to stay with the switched retailer for 30 days (Energy) 45 days ( NBN). if the application is cancelled in that period, Cx will not receive the gift card.

        3. cx will recieve the gift card within 90-120 days after the date of activation, not sign-up

        4. e-gift card is sent via email from [email protected] or [email protected].

5.Gift Cards are valid for 3 months from the issue date and Gift Cards are not reloadable or redeemable for cash.

Generally, customers miss out 1or 2 points and do not get the gift card as scheduled

It seems from previous posts that many people here don't receive these give cards.

    • I received them twice

      • The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few…

      • I have also received them twice

      don't receive these give cards.

So all they do is take cards?

      • Guybrush57, no once the cards are issued and expired, nothing can be done about the gift card and it is lost revenue for customer and as well as for the Econnex.

    • Hey Jv, generally the reason for not receiving the gift card is that customers do not follow the terms and conditions.

And we have to constantly remind to read the terms and conditions carefully.

    • Worked fine for me last time. Gift cards (2 x $50) came through, no spam.

May give it a go when my current free month at Aussie runs out.

  • Since Credit Card is the only payment method offered by Econnex when signing up, I understand that Econnex has the right to disclose personal information to third party, not sure how safe if i use my credit card, anyone knows of any temporary/virtual credit card that I can load up a certain amount of money and then cancel the credit card in the future easily?

    • Yeah mate, it's called Revolut, message me and I can help you out

Prepare to be spammed for all eternity. And they have enough data to take out a loan in your name. Not worth $100, IMHO.

I think you will agree that your privacy policy allows a bit more than that. It pretty much allows anything.

        • Does it include disclosure to supply retailers in the dark web lol

    • WOW !!!

I have seen such companies giving bonus for switching, only because they want your details. They sell these details to scammers from all over the world for them to exploit it for the whole life.

Ive been warning people from previous deals but no one seems to care

      • +2

Just like folks get warned about not buying HEYMIX products time and time again…

        • I saw those warnings and immediatly cancelled the one and only Heymix order i had.

  • FWIW, here's my experience with using Econnex six months ago for a similar deal.

I signed up using a masked email. I haven't received any spam on the disposable email address.

I can't say whether Econnex or anyone associated with them have been spamming me with phone calls, because I'm fortunate enough that I don't have to answer numbers I don't recognise. They all go through to voicemail, and most don't leave messages. There hasn't been an increase in the number of these unrecognised callers. I have received the occasional spam SMS like in the past, but they've all been of the type I've seen before, and the frequency hasn't increased. My number is on the "do not call" register, so if Econnex do phone people, maybe that's been enough to stop them (shrug).

I also haven't had any bogus transactions on my credit card or any identity theft issues (… yet)

But… when I received the email with the actual gift cards, it came from Woolworths, not Econnex. My initial reaction was that it was yet another spam. There was nothing in the email to identify it had anything to do with Econnex, so I was suspicious. It wasn't until I checked things and opened the gift card links, that the web page stated that the cards were a "gift" from Econnex.

Given the high rate of gift card fraud, I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of these emails end up in people's spam/junk folders. Or people just delete them thinking they're spam, like I nearly did. Econnex could probably help improve things a lot here by sending a separate notice email saying something like, "Hey, we're about to send you an email with your gift cards. It'll be from Woolworths, not directly from us… etc." Or maybe it's somehow to their advantage in the short term not to do that.

Reading the previous deals, I see a lot of comments saying "hey I haven't received my gift card". A few seemed to be explained by the fact that the person didn't follow the T&Cs and ported away from the NBN service provider before the minimum 3-month period was up. Most seem to get responded to by Econnex. Some people come back and state they subsequently received their gift cards. Most don't write any follow up. So it's hard to tell what percentage of people don't receive their gift cards in the first place, or what percentage are successful after following up with Econnex. A few comments state that they've previously contacted Econnex through OzBargain and their issue still remains.

There's also a range of comments from others stating they had no problems with Econnex. (So glass half full, half empty???)

I'm under no illusion that the benefits don't ultimately come with some hidden strings attached, like information sharing.

Based on my experience so far, I'd use Econnex again. But this is all N=1, and of course YMMV.

    • I'm under no illusion that the benefits don't ultimately come with some hidden strings attached, like information sharing.

Glad there's someone that realises that, if it's free, you're the product.

  • Cards rarely arrive.

  • Any chance you'll repeat MORE deal? https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/763723

  • They won't keep their words. I have been issued a 50$ gift card after emailing them and they called me to clear their point that why it's 50$ not 100$
