  • Does anyone know how warranty works if you buy from Amazon US?

    • +1

Not sure about that but contacted reolink Australia and confirmed local stock arrival date of early May, so if u don't mind wait, then it should be better to got Aussie spec here.

      • This is good news!

        • Somebody mentioned they contacted them last month and they were told there was an April availability… Hope they're not just pushing it out continually. I ended up just getting the US plug version from the Reolink store at Aliexpress

Note: as you are purchasing from Amazon US, the Chime will most likely have a US Power Plug.

    • -5

      Uses PoE

      • +4

I was under the impression that the Camera is PoE, while the Chime is still a Power Point Plug.

EDIT: Confirmed with a YouTube Video unboxing

        • I believe you are right - on the Reolink website it says about the Chime:

“Just plug it into any electrical socket…”

      • +1
      • There are two parts to the setup:
        - camera doorbell outside the house
        - door chime inside the house; this is what RichardL is referring to

    • Confirmed, i have this (PoE version), it comes with a US plug on the chime. It is solid, so you need an adapter.

      • What kind of adapter?
Does it need a transformer or just a power plug adapter?
Do you need to use the chime or can you just use the camera if you have home assistant and power it via POE?

        • +2

I have the US version and all you need is a small US pin to AU pin adapter. The chime runs from 110v to 240v so no transformer needed.

      • I use mine with this adapter and it's solid.
        https://www.bunnings.com.au/jackson-inbound-travel-adaptor-u…

Basically you don't even need chime if you know how to integrate with HA and use Google speaker / nest etc.

    • +1

The chime will probably be in Star-Spangled Banner as it's from the US

      • There's so many chimes it's ridiculous to cycle through them if you miss one you wanted. Also you can volume up or down, just cycle through them. So don't set it up with sleeping kids.

  • the US plug is the catch

  • Does anyone know if it can be used directly with home assistant?

  • Can the doorbell use Google Home to notify someone pressed the doorbell like my Arlo Doorbell can do

  • +1

Wish reolink would just make some available in Australia!

    • +1

We get the crumbs….the big biscuits go to US first

    • I accidentally ordered the wifi version off the back of one of the ozb posts, realised my mistake, contacted them to refund and they offered to send me a poe and the difference. Invoice still says wifi version 🤷‍♂️😂

      • I think the wifi version supports rich notifications(preview on your phone notifications bar) and support for cloud storage which I'm looking for but I would prefer the POE version and not too sure why it would not support these features as well? If any one has the POE version please could you help check if these features are available.

        • Not currently. But I use frigate so effectively have that functionality anyway

        • They wants users to buy both versions of the bell :D

  • If I don't have existing ethernet wiring would I be better off buying the Wi-Fi version for an extra $30?

    • +1

Yes but note they don't have a battery so there still needs to be a power source

In most cases you can re-use the wires that were run for an old style wired pushbutton doorbell

      • +1

I've seen someone use POE to power the wifi version.

        • Is this a DIY solution or a feature?

          • +1

@Schmatt: I was wrong. Just rewatched Life Hackster's video https://youtu.be/mlyMXktqe_M Power is by doorbell wiring and data is through the ethernet port. Gets rid of wifi vulnerability and still provides rich notifications.

    • I ran a cable fairly easily. Really depends how many things you have to get through in the wall to make it happen.

    • How does warranty work with Aliexpress?

      • -2

        It doesn't

      • +1

If you buy from the official Reolink store, it’s fine.

I’ve bought via their Ali store and it shipped from NSW. I found I ordered the wrong model one time, reached out to their help center and they fixed it up for me no issue, returned the wrong camera to them and they sent the correct one.

  • I got the Australian WiFi version to replace my Eufy,
Connected to my Reolink NVR for recordings.
No problem with it so far. The viewing angle is much wider than Eufy which I think is great me.
I wouldn't get the US version unless you are happy to use an adapter for the Chime.

Also please note the WiFi version have Ethernet port but no POE function.

    • Apparently you can power it with POE. Just no data over ethernet.

      • are you sure? i believe power is only via the barrel port, and the ethernet port only supports data. POE splitter would work

        • I was wrong. Just rewatched Life Hackster's video https://youtu.be/mlyMXktqe_M Power is by doorbell wiring and data is through the ethernet port. Gets rid of wifi vulnerability and still provides rich notifications.

    • This. PoE…
I got mine connected to a PoE switch in the roof cavity, linked into my NVR… works flawlessly.

      • can you share more detail on your setup? Is it a Reolink NVR?

Are you saying i can connect my Reolink NVR to any 4 port PoE switch and effectively have more than 8 channels now (e.g. 7 cameras connected directly to NVR then doorbell connected to PoE switch and maybe 3 more cameras connected to that switch?

Or are you using some other NVR with other software?

        Thanks

  • Looks like PoE version is in stock on Reolink AU for anyone interested.
