I'm not sure how this a deal?

    • +3

Obviously you are not an investment banker at W.

    jokepost

  • +1

    It's still $88k

    • -1

The vehicle only became available for ordering in Australia today

      • +1

        That's nice

        • +7

Man+dog were posting GPU deals simply for availability. Not entirely sure how this is too different.

    • Is lucky number la

  • +8

    How is this a "deal"?

    • -1

Well if a 4-figure GPU can be considered a deal, anything is possible.

      • +5

Or they could both not be deals.

  • Ended up with Model 3 but was waiting for this for so long since they launched the Y here
Glad it’s out now but loving the model 3 for now.

Prob will be more keen when they are firmly on 4680 cells and structural packs

Pricing i had hoped to be slightly better than this tho

  • +3

I own a model Y and think it's great the long range is offered here, and should have from the start.

But not sure how this is a bargain?

  • Are these also made in China?

    • +1

I think all of our Tesla's are?

    • +1

The made in china ones are very good quality, there are many comparisons between the USA made ones and China made ones.

    • Anything we use here NOT made in China :)

    • +2

Yep! The day they moved from USA manufaturing to Chinese manufacturing was the day I ordered mine, didn't want a US made one.

      • why not?

        • +1

I own Model 3 which was USA made, had two head rest replaced, secondary seal of left aide doors replace, rear seat rattle, rear suspension click sound fixed. imagine the quality of usa made.

    Thanks OP, bought zero

    Not worth the extra $$$
    No deal

  • +8

    This ain't OzRRP.

  • +1

Charging LR to 80% will be same as RWD range. Not worth $16k extra unless you want to save 2 seconds of take off

Real bargain is $3k price drop on model 3

    • At least you'll have the option of topping it off if you're going to do a road trip or something.

e.g. Y Vanilla 455 km, I can see that not being enough to get from Perth to Albany or Geraldton without charging.

      • +2

Probably worth spending $16k extra for someone who travels that much distance on a daily basis but I'd rather stop and charge for occassional trips and spend $30 on charging instead of spending $16k for marginal convenience

        • +1

Battery wear is an issue if regularly pushing full range on a long trip anyway

    • +2

Not worth clogging the forums with this cr*p

      • +1

i meant the forums at whogivesaf*ck.com

      • Speaking of which, what's your post count up to now?

  • +2

Not a deal, not a good buy, not a good brand

  • Lol the mods actually went through all the reports on this post and ruled to leave it up.

  • No cashrewards :( ?

  • +3

Why is there an order fee? You want to buy the car and they charge you for that?

    • -1

Next there will be a - just looking fee and a top up battery charge

    • Not only Tesla that does this, unfortunately dealers will do whatever they can get away with!

  • where's the " thanks, i bought 100" troll?

  • +1

Beware, any options at all will mean you pay luxury car tax, and are no longer eligible for the FBT concessions

    • On the Tesla forums they are hoping LCT will increase from July 1, then can modify the order after. But a risk as could get the car beforehand!

      • I too like to gamble

  • Yeah I can't afford this

  • Is $88,071 (Drive Away) over the, not under, Luxury Car Tax (LCT) $84,916?

    • +1

LCT is not based on drive away price (which includes local on road costs (ORC).

It's under the threshold if you don't select different colours, wheels or white interior.

There's big savings to be had with the FBT exemption under LCT - https://www.drive.com.au/caradvice/electric-car-fringe-benef…

      • +1

The FBT threshold rises ~6% in July, buy then for best results and colours.

    • i also thought i had read that on-road costs need to be included in determining if you make it under LCT or not

    • +2

Advised by my accountant friend that the LCT $84,916 does not include stamp duty, CTPI, and registration.
In VIC, Drive away Long Range basic $88,232 less stamp duty $3520, less registration $250, and less local ctp $552 = $83,910. Just under the $84,916 LCT.
      Thanks.
      Ordered one last night :)

    • +1

When you've priced your car on the website you can have a look at the breakdown and it will indicate whether it does or not

As others have said, stamp duty and on-road costs, ie CTP & registration, aren't included in the calculation for LCT. The other way of considering it is that LCT is calculated on the base value of the car, plus options, plus dealer delivery and other charges. Basically, LCT is calculated on what the dealer receives of your payment

  • +3

Have the model Y RWD. Drive Sydney to Goldcoast. Was great and easy to recharge at super chargers. Don’t need LR

  • Close to $90 grand for an basic ev now……

    • +2

      an basic

      that phrase hurts my head

    • There's much more basic than this!

    • +1

it is a 5 second SUV with lots of technology, I would not call it a basic car
