Aldi have this small upright freezer from Weds the 8th. Available in black, white or silver
Perfect for stashing 80litres of your Ozbargained frozen goods. Star rating is 3 (202KW per year) and review is good - well at least one bloke is happy.
No idea what "Stirling" brand starts life as, I guess one of the many Chinese manufacturers but guarantee is for three years, in home and Aldi are good at honoring them.

any chance to convert this into wine fridge?
I guess you could just look at the dimensions and then get the appropriate things to put inside the fridge to hold the wine?
nope, how to hold the wine is not critical, I'm talking temp control
I saw somewhere (Ebay perhaps) a bloke selling thermostat conversion kits to run freezers at higher temperatures as fridges. I think his spiel was along the lines of freezers generally having better insulation but I doubt they would properly dehumidify as there is no cool plate and drip set up.
Yep it's possible but it'll cost you $30 for the kit and you'll need some electronics/electrical experience plus a few dollars more for sundry stuff. Go here for more info: http://www.jaycar.com.au/productView.asp?ID=KC5476
This might be the link you were thinking of
Just did a simple eBay search and found some brand new cheapies for $199 (+ Delivery) or many 2nd hand in VGC for around the $100 mark. Gotta be careful though, the kit above will control temp better than a standard fridge thermostat HOWEVER it can't control the RATE of the temperature change and this is very important for Wine… possibly even more important than the temperature itself. Then there's the humidity etc. too.
any one knows about this one?

Don't know it personally but it's $150 (ouch) and works basically the same as the $30 kit above. At that price plus the cost of the above frigde you may as well just buy a proper Wine Fridge brand new… well, one of the cheapies anyway (& they're not really 'proper' anyway).
Found a much better deal at Retravision - a mini freezer but much more size for just $45 more. Check them out before you buy this one.
Well part of the appeal of buying from Aldi is the 3 year guarantee that actually gets honored as opposed to random "bargain" no-name Chinese TVs fridges etc that break down after a short while and get piffed out.
See em on the streets every day.My experience with Aldi electronics (rather than whitegoods) is that warranty has never been honoured for repairs. Every time a unit fails I have been told to bring it back for a refund. Many complaints on Whirlpool (gadgets- best & worst Aldi) including having to lug a fridge back to store. http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=1773283
Hey, refund is fine with me. Three years is quite generous these days with the era of disposable products and Aldi tend to only stock things for a few weeks at a time, so it seems reasonable.
Better than the big sweet nothing most of the cheapies give you after 12 months.
Worst case scenario:
If it blows after 3 years and one day, its like you rented it for 95c a week. If it blows 2 years 51 weeks and six days or less, you get your money back. :)
online or in the shop?
