I might just cancel the order from Mwave

IMO this is a better deal. Less hassle with returns as well.

What a demon of a machine. Looks great value.

    • Are you selling yours for $999 to make such recommendation?

        • +1

It would easily sell for $3k+ on eBay and a flipper would have grabbed it within hours.

That listing would either be sold, or more likely, a scam.

        • +9

Yeah, that's so obviously a scam that it hurts that you would even post it here. I messaged just to see how it works after a similar comment on another MB deal.

          • You see a cheap MBP on FB
          • You message them
          • They tell you to get in contact with another person through messenger
          • The messenger contact pretends to be a real store(in my case a Gold Coast mobile phone store). They gave a mobile number which didn't match the store when asked.
          • They ask for payment via payID. This was a Comm bank account with the store name.

They also tried to encourage me to pay by sending random PayID screenshots, presumably, from victims.

@pos: This aint it chief, you don't reply to legitimate criticism with sarcasm.

            • +3

@pos: No, but they're right though. The majority of Macbook Pro and iPhone posts for massively undervalued prices on Marketplace and Gumtree are actual scams. This is a PSA for anyone reading this thread: if it seems too good to be true, it likely is. Quick search through the auctions on eBay would tell you that these laptops retain approx 80-90% of their value at this point in time. Don't fall for these cheap postings.

@Dr Fruit: I agree most of the time, they are easy to pick if check their profile, usually from OS and spin a story of they are working and friend will pick after paying with pay ID.
I buy and sell a bit on FBM and GT so am used to it.
Occasionally one of these deals are real, like my 14 pro 256gb not used I got a month ago for $1K, cash on meet up, turned out after searching him up I actually knew of the guy and he just wanted a quick sale was on his way south for a gig (local muso), had $1200 on it offered him $1000 and was all done in less than 30 mins. Phone hasn't missed a beat full apple warranty.
Another this year was a M2 256gb MacBook air for $1000 1 month old, was too small GB for her so bought another bigger one and just wanted it gone.
You need to know what you are doing though, not for the faint hearted lol.

@Surfsalot: Definitely. You have to have seen enough of these posts to discern which ones are genuine and which ones are scams. 90% of them are scams - occasionally there'll be some actual bargains. But we would be doing less proficient folks a disservice if they blindly believe what was suggested by the commenter above - that these MBP's can be easily had for 1.5k from marketplace. That's just not the truth and will lead to people getting scammed out of their hard earned money.

        • Why would you say no? When it clearly states in the listing it does include them. Stop being a pos 😂

          • @thesmartone1125: They were spruiking the second hand market, including obvious scams, as they have a MBP for sale

      • Yes they are as per description: "Free HP Wireless Earbuds G2 Included."

  • I wasn't going to buy one but "comes with free HP Wireless Earbuds G2"

Shut up and take my money.

  • Those earbuds reviews are bad, and only $29 from centercom

  • I should be able to buy apple care+ on this right? Given that it is still packaged with full tax invoice to use for purchase proof if needed?

    • Brand new, unopened, so yes.

  • Arghhh my pay is delayed I wont be paid until the end of next week :/ back I go to Apple refurbished I guess…

Thanks OP. Just grabbed one. Considering this is $2k less than the M2 Max, that 20% increase in speed just isn't worth it.

Arrived today. Wow this machine is FAST!

  • This or
    Apple MacBook Pro 16" M2 Pro, 12-Core CPU, 19-Core GPU, 512GB SSD for $3999
    ?

    • I would go this over that M2 Pro. Getting way more for your money, Has double the ram, SSD and more GPU cores.
Plus the base 512gb SSD is slower in the new models.

Thanks for the reply. It was my thought initially but when I compared the two models on CPU monkey and versus the M2 came out on top. So need clarification

  • Bing Lee same price

    Must be on clearance

That listing is so misleading lol I can’t tell if that is the M1 Pro or M1 Max

    • Good find. Isn't that $3,641 + Delivery though which is a bit more?
