ADATA XPG Xenia 14" i7-1165G7, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD, Iris Xe, W10H, 970g $899 + Delivery @ Mwave

550

This seems like a great ultraportable laptop coming in at 970g with good specs for the price. It is also surprisingly upgradable with 2x SO-DIMM slots for RAM and a second SSD slot. 16:10 display with narrow bezels is also nice.

MobileTechReview has a good review of this laptop if anyone's looking for a review.

How's the processor / thermals and the battery combo?

I've recently had an experience with a i7-11700H / 98Whr battery (Intel Nuc X15, which is also rebranded as a XPG Xenia, but it's a Chinese laptop (made by CCP-owned "Tong Feng")

Performance (non gaming) was very good, but battery life was very poor (4 hours max, just YouTube etc.), and it would idle at 58 degrees.

(As a benchmark, my MacBook Pro M2 2021… Never seems to get hot, doesn't seem to have a fan (like seriously, how does it stay cool), battery life is… wow, ok, maybe 4-5 hours. I think I might have overstated the X15 above. Hardware-wise, serious question - is there a better laptop with better hardware than a MacBook? Opening and closing the laptop just oozes quality)

      • Macs seem nice. Sons air had the power supply fail , never had a pc p/s ever fail at home or work. He also has a MacBook Pro and screen went faulty, screen black (backlight still worked). Seems that’s a known issue with open and closing the screen the cause. Apple replaced the screen.

Yeah… Touch wood. So far, so good, and simply no other laptop I've ever experienced (Two Acers (also from Taiwan), one Nuc X15) come anywhere near it.

Seems almost unfair to compare anything to apple silicon in battery life

16GB to start with, so you don't waste it when you upgrade to 32GB

It's good if you plan to upgrade but you're losing performance by having only single channel memory out of the box.
And I know this isn't a gaming laptop but Iris Xe can play older games and esports titles fine but single channel memory will cripple performance.
I believe most people don't upgrade their machines so I have to disagree with this point being a bonus.

      • I'm getting negged? Someone care to explain. I don't even know what part people disagree with

    • Love this, unfortunately I missed this deal but will keep an eye out for the next one

    Excellent deal
This is Intel NUC-like in terms of specs coverage
HP Aero = 8GB RAM only, LG Gram = overpriced, Lenovo = MIA, MS Surface = hostile to repair, planned obsolescence e-waste

  • Is Mwave good to deal with?. How do faults get handled?

  • Deal seems to have expired, shows as $1,799 for me

  • I want one 😣

  • Very nice laptop for the price.

I decided to take a bit of a gamble and ordered this laptop from Amazon US yesterday:
    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09S534ZBX
Comes to about A$940 after 10% GST and shipping costs, so hopefully there shouldn't be any import duty.
That one negative review is concerning, but there is a 30-days free return period in case it doesn't work out of the box.
