What a great explanation of status and the benefits that come with it. Thanks @blasfarmer.

      • Mate… can not thank you enough. This was an amazing summary.

From all this, as much as I’d like to dream status Credit would be good for me, reality is I can not travel that much at least right now. This sounds like leaves me with points!

        Thanks again.

      • another point to add is the higher your tier (by status point)
the more chance of getting a point ticket (classic rewards ticket)
especially when you want to use your points to buy ticket in peak seasons
or to upgrade from econ to business for international flights
the basic tier (bronze) basically score nearly no chance

Cheers OP. About to book a return trip to the US for work so perfect timing (nearly purchased it earlier today).

  • I have some redemption flights booked (E, J, and F), and I'm point plus. If I call them and they say I need to rebook them…will they help me with the rebooking or will I have to cancel myself and hope I can rebook them?

    • Points Club Plus doesn’t have anything to do with modifying flights.

Anyone can call and ask them for help for them to book over the phone, but they will charge a points fee for this (unless cannot book it yourself via the website).

      • I mentioned the PC+ because I'll be earning SC from my redemption flights.

And since I have rare F seats to LAX, I was asking if the call centre can rebook it safely to earn the bonus SC.

FYI, if you want to go the further mile - be sure to earn Qantas Green Tier, it will cost you about 6,400 points and $19 but you will earn a precious 50 status credits towards your current and lifetime status,

    • Is this using tips in point hacks article?

      • Well Point Hacks has listed literally everything possible. There is nothing else you can do.
        Im going off prior knowledge.

        • How do you do it for 6400/$19?

          • +1

            @drillvoice: 1 - Carbon Offset a flight like MEL-SYD
2 - Offset your house in Tasmania for $15
            3 - Donation 1 3200 points
            4 - Donation 2 3200 points
5 - Make the order climate positive $1

So for just over 6400 points (excluding the carbon offset for the flight but that varies) and $16, you can set a cool 50 SCs.

  • Does the bonus status credit count towards lifetime status credit?

    • Yes

  • Also in addition, if I buy a ticket from Qantas with 2x flights each way due to transit, 1 with a QF number and Qantas operated and the other with a non-QF airline code (and operated by non-QF airline), do I get double status on the QF number only, or on both flights?

    • Qantas metal only. No codeshares.

      • Condeshares that have a Qantas flight number attached to it have worked in the past. For instance, booking a DUbai to Sydney flight on Emirates, with a Qantas flight number.

        • Makes sense. However the QF component should still get the bonus?

  • Does anyone know, if you've registered for the double points (I've opted for status credits), and as opposed to booking flights myself, my company makes a booking on my behalf through their corporate account, will I still get the double up points as long as I travel within the specified dates?

    • +1

      Yes.

  • Need some double checking here… if I book/fly from SYD - BNE ($94 and 36800pts), then BNE - CHC ($278 and 83000pts) RTN… will I get at least 700 status credit if I book under Business Classic Reward?
So for a few hundred dollars and nearly over 100k points people can fast track to Gold?
    Thanks…

  • Seems like this should work, but if I book some Red eDeals and then upgrade them to business using points, I would then get the business rate of status credits (which would then be doubled), right?

    • No, you will only receive the status credits for the class you originally booked

  • Question about the T&Cs: "Any flight with a QF flight number on the ticket which is not operated by Qantas including Jetstar, Jetstar Asia, Jetstar Japan, Jetstar Pacific and other partner airlines will not be eligible for this offer."

Alot of domestic flights are QF but have something like "Flight QFxxx is operated by Sunstate On Behalf Of Eastern" - would these be eligible for double status credits? I assume the QantasLink ones would be

    • +1

Yes. QantasLink, Eastern, etc effectively book as QF mainline. They are not treated as partner airlines.

  • I booked tickets on 23rd March for flights in July 2023, but only read about the double points/SC (missed the email) today, so I just registered. Does that matter? Am I supposed to register first and then book the tickets?

  • Hi Fellow Ozbargainers,
I have booked the tickets during the promotion period, but the points and amount has not been deducted from my account yet. However i am able to view the booking and select seats under my account.
Upon navigating to manage booking, i could see the booking shows under processing. Would i still be eligible for double status credits even though the points & amount has not been deducted yet?

Have someone experience the similar issue before?
    Thank you.
