Skeleton watches generally aren't my thing, but this one doesn't look too bad in the black finish. The gold and silver varieties, not so much.

But I have purchased enough watches lately, so no buy for me!

Yes I wish members would stop posting watch deals, there's too many.

      • 🀣🀣🀣

But I agree with dude above about the colours. Black and Rose gold looks decent for a dress watch. Shame I can't buy now, think later. I too have bought too many watches recently. πŸ˜…

      • But I only just got started

  • Where is it made?

    • +2

Bulova started as an American watch company, but is now owned by Citizen.
According to google their watches are made in Japan, Switzerland, and Hong Kong. (most likely depends on movement/model)

      • Also, has been to the moon, credited for the first ever paid TV advertisement and they used to sponsor Frank Sinatra's radio show.. or something?

        • You know more and are probably older than me πŸ˜….

@n3ck3ntry8bort0rgasm: Hahaha, I only know from my frivolous company research a couple months back when I bought my first 2. 😊

I know nothing else, of basically any other brand I now own because they're all arguably more reliable and well-known brands.. πŸ˜…

Don't let my profile photo fool you, I'm only 30.. 🀣

Makes sense. When there is a good reputation you don't really question it/research about it more.

              • @n3ck3ntry8bort0rgasm: Exactly my point, but then again, watches are a weird thing. Some people might have like 20 watches (e.g. 19 swatches and 1 of those Skmei's @WatchNerd keeps recommending me) but will laugh off an old Patek Philippe.. 🀣

I think there's a LOT to know in this hobby, and I only know like 1%.. πŸ˜…

P.S. While I have you, what watch box do you use? I'm looking to grab a cheap-ish, clear-top like, 10 slotter. I've come to realise a lot of the ones online have like 5cm gaps and doesn't really allow for actually putting decent sized watches, side by side without rubbing or even just having to have them staggered of 1 sitting higher and the next lower etc.

Yeah I am with you there. Don't know much always learning new things. Last two were probably what "Pilot" watches were and just realizing that "Eco-drive" watch movements (or should I say modules?) were Solar Quartz not just battery Quartz.

I recently do "watch" a lot of watch content on youtube though. Like this chronograph repair https://youtu.be/8YrM2ECK2Jk
I have no idea what all the parts are, I did watch a 3D rendering of how a mechanical watch works so I have a vague idea but yeah still understand very little.
Here is another video I left open in a tab to watch again, this channel does a lot of DIY builds and I find some them look really cool. I also really like how the custom "Grand Seiko build" looked in this video https://youtu.be/PQorQ_cUieA

Not a collector so don't need one lol. I have 3 watches. One G-shock that lives on my wrist, a Garmin for NFC pay and tracking fitness activity and a $50 Casio I bought to practice mods on that lives on a eBay stand on my desk as a desk clock.
I have gone through a few Casio's/G-shocks though so I keep up with G-shocks in particular, such as unique aspects of certain models, modules, monthly new releases etc.
Honestly still feeling a bit stupid for buying the Garmin Venu SQ for $132 because I am definitely not an athlete and only use the NFC pay when I walk to the shops and don't want to take anything else in my pockets. If anything though smart watch wise for my use I get 15 to 20 days of battery life out of it until it hits 50% and I throw it on the charger, so I am very happy with that.

Not sure I would go with a box though, because you keep it closed right? If I had more watches I would probably like to keep them where I can see them, so maybe in a display case on separate individual watch stands? Although I am speaking from a perspective of needing to display like 6 watches max.
Oh I just read the "clear top" part, but a box still lays flat right? So only visible from above.
I looked for something cheap before and found this for + $9 flat rate shipping https://sugotoys.com.au/product/morstorm-39cm-led-figure-dis… You could even lay it on it's side and fit more. The light will probably come from the side too but I think it will be ok reflecting off all the white plastic.
If you plan on having a lot more and room for expanding, maybe something like an IKEA Detolf? https://www.ikea.com/au/en/p/detolf-glass-door-cabinet-white…

                • @WasBargain: By the way I realized I didn't link to the watch stand I got.
I got one of these in dark grey https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/264438902922 I thought they looked pretty minimalist and stylish. There is always a further discount code shown under it and a discount is available if you buy in bulk (not sure if you can stack with code worth a try).
Yes there is a hole for an Apple watch puck, but I have my $50 Casio with a very small case (43.1 Γ— 41.2 Γ— 10.5 mm) and it covers the entire hole. I can even look at it from 40 degree angle as it sits on my desk and I cannot see the hole (it does help though that the band can get quite small and the watch case is held close to the hole).

Also thought to share this video I just came across on the MoonSwatch, which gives some insight into a watch persons opinion and the current state of the market. https://youtu.be/VdtrRckDPos

Also thought to share the fact even I am a shameless G-shock follower, that I really have a tough time liking the G-shock's that are above the $300 price point. For some reason they start to provide options that are gaudy and ridiculous without any actual real world sensibility.
Here is an extreme example, without talking about price. In what world is this a good looking watch? lol a clown's world? 🀣 https://youtu.be/Bt_GjLtpWzQ
                  Price $2200 πŸ™ƒ.

                  • @n3ck3ntry8bort0rgasm: I forgot that we do indeed live in a clown world.
Also forgot to mention the stands are aluminum and quite hefty and out of the box but they are a bit unbalanced with nothing on it, it can rock to the curved side quite easily. Once you put a watch on the stand though it balances out and is stable.

  • I know I'm late to the deal by a few weeks, but would you know if these are available for 400 bucks or less elsewhere?
Seems like every store I look, they're sold out or costing 600 bucks or more.

    Thanks!
