Still using my Novoo USB Hub from 4 years ago; only annoyance is that it doesn't have USB-C PD Pass-through to also charge the laptop.

    • One day the lightning deal will come through again.

  • Is this what I need to plug in my 4TB HDD into my new laptop? It's got a USB plug, but my new laptop only has the smaller USB3 inputs.

So I need new cables, or something like this?

    Got NFI 😬

    • +1

You mean USB C or USB 3.0? By "smaller USB3" I'm thinking it's USB C? if that is the case, get this

      • +1

        Yeah, the fastest ports.

But my external hard drives have normal USB 3 ports.

I plan to buy a safe external HDD, but I use the 4tb for just videos etc

        Thank you!

        • You can use a hub to connect them together (like this deal), or buy a USBC-USB3.0 cable connecting the USB C port from your laptop to the HDD

          • @I Smell Pennies: Thank you

            Do you recommend any cables?

This seems cheap, I don't plug much else into my laptop.

I just noticed the USB sd card readers like $5 :/

I have an original iPod 40gb from 20 years ago, and I put all my photos on there with an attachment through SD card. I wouldn't mind getting them! Now the tech makes it easy.

    Bought. Researched. Cancelled.

    Doesn't have a charging port.

    • +1

Do you need it to if connected to a laptop?

      • It really depends on your laptop.

My device only has a single USB-C port which doubles as the charging port so it would mean having to unplug the hub when charging.

    • Same. That’s a deal breaker isn’t it :-/

      Amazon deal official procedures:
      Bought. Researched. Cancelled.

  • Buy first, think later

    • You will be elevated to OzBargain’s platinum tier shortly.

already have 1 hub and barely use it. but I couldn't resist a good deal…

  • +1

Best to only buy one good quality USB C adaptor

    Must haves are :-
    1. USB C (PD charging passthrough, or at least for USB storage)
    2. Ethernet RJ45 port
    3. Micro SD slot
    4. SD card slot
    5. USB A slot
    6. HDMI 4K @ 60 Hz slot (for at least 1 monitor), [4K @30 Hz may survive with you too].

If the Hub doesn't have all the mentioned above, it is not that much worth buying, you will end you spending extra on the other missing bit afterwards. So Buy 1 but good quality one that has all the above ports.

    • Any recommendations?

      • I have been using this one from eBay bought a while ago

        https://i.imgur.com/tyAD0pz.jpg

I think it was like $30-$50 something around that.

But its ethernet is only 100 Mbps,

haven't been able to test 4K@ 30 Hz or 60 Hz (because I got a $h!t TV). I think listing was 60 Hz but could be 30 Hz too cannot remember.

Mine may have been this one https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/325120973922

If you got two USB C ports, ( like MacBooks) you can easily find all the ports I mentioned above(like with 4K@60 Hz, and gigabit ethernet too), Otherwise when you only have 1 USB C like me, then it is expensive to get all the mentioned ports.

I think its same generic one like this one https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/115693533107 (this one seems to be gigabit Ethernet though, so better than mine)

      • I have been using this (have 2 of them) for over a year. Happy with them. Do note the HDMI port only supports 30Hz but it does the job when connected to my Dell monitor

  • Where does the coupon appear on the page?

  • I think it's gone now

This is a good it of kit. Been using for years. As usual, ignore the RRP though.
