  • All time low?!

    • Send like it, I paid the same price for a pcie3

      • The speeds are equivalent to a pcie3 drive.

installed this in my brother In-laws ps5, runs great with no issues.

    • Did you put a heat sink on it?

Edit: On the SSD, not the PS5.

      • +3

yep, a cheapo jonsbo one from ebay

        • Thanks.

        • +1

Bought a same one about $5 on AliExpress last year.

      • I have the 1tb in my ps5 with no heatsink - works just fine - in saying that I only have PS4 games on it

    • +2

Surpised it worked with those read write speeds

      • +4

Ps5 games don't come close to requiring the stated drive specs, many independent tests have shown you can safely use much slower drive than their stated minimum with no noticeable negative consequences. (at least for all current games, maybe something in future "might" use it)

        • Thanks good to know

          • -2

@Ferny32: Not recommended for PS5 as it does not meet the minimum recommended Sony speed of 5,500mb. It may technically work now but there is no guarantee it will work on all titles in the future.

Do these work on an old dell xps 9550 laptop. I think yes, but wanted to confirm.

    • +1

Depends if your laptop has an M2 slot - most laptops these days exclusively use this form factor so you should be safe, but depending on the laptop they usually only have one meaning it will replace your operating system, not to mention hardware swaps can be locked out if you have these security settings configured in your BIOS and don't know how to circumvent by wiping your CMOS; just pointing this out because asking a simple question such as this that the top google response answers (https://www.dell.com/community/XPS/m2-ssd-compatilbe-with-xp…), raises concerns that you don't really know what you're getting yourself into…

      • Thanks for your help I saw the same thing and thought if I buy this it probably means I would have to do a clean install again

        • +1

I had this issue cloning onto a new SSD on a 9550 and found a fresh install to be the easiest work around. With a fresh install it worked fine though.

  • Absolute bargain here for game storage, and data. maybe not for os without dram. Meanwhile ozbargain still 100+ upvote $200 crucial mx sata drives.

    • so not good for windows laptop as main drive?

      • Not an expert on this but should be ok for most people, but a drive with dram is recommended for doing lots of large or simultaneous transfers without slowing down. I think the play is to get a nice tlc drive with dram for os and primary apps and then HDD or non dram ssd for large storage.

Showing $179.39 for me, not sure if I am missing something or if the deal just ended?

    Edit:
Found on Umart for same price as OP and in stock in a number of stores.
