It's below RRP but definitely far from the cheapest it's been.

$352 on Good Guys Commercial. Even that is a bit expensive IMO: it’s been below $300 on occasion.

I have the version before and will buy again if it breaks.
The killer is the multi week battery life for me, so I can use it for sleep monitoring, silent alarm and all day steps plus notifications.

My spouse has an Apple Watch, which promises to do more, but seems to need charging everyday, so you can’t count on it.

The killer is the multi week battery life for me

I would consider a Garmin instead for this very reason (although battery is a bit less with about 14-21 days approx depending on which Garmin) plus the huge amount of activity tracking capabilities, NFC, Spotify and the huge user base.

I like my Withings Body Scale though, have my weight connected to Garmin Connect.

      • Which Garmin are you referring to? I have an Amazfit Bip S which is good for being super budget with 2 week battery life but I am looking for an upgrade. Don't think I could switch to something with worse battery life though.

Definitely Fenix 6 series when on sale. I have the fenix 6x Pro I picked up through Amazon in December as a refurb for ~$400

There are cheaper Garmin watches, but I am less familiar with them.

    • Huawei watch can give you 1-2 weeks battery life.

  • Geez some of the reviews are scathing, especially the one for the person who had it for 14 months and it had condensation, and no warranty support in australia.

I have the Withings Steel HR 36mm for about a year now, wearing it 24/7, and I don't have anything to complain about. The battery takes ages to go flat (in my case I get notifications only for phone calls), it does its job tracking sleep, steps, heart rate, exercises, etc. I also like the fact that you can get different straps from Aliexpress.
I highly recommend for someone that doesn't want a second smartphone (NFC, colorful touch screen, etc.) on their wrist.

I bet it states that you get heaps of deep sleep. It just isn't the case. Lots of times I'm in deep sleep watching TV!

Can confirm, sleep tracking says just about every day is perfect with sleep scores ranging from 94 to 100. Even when I wake up 20+ times through the night and feel like absolute ass in the morning, watch says it was perfect.

I'm still happy to have my ScanWatch though as I wanted a nice looking analogue watch and it's exactly that, plus the silent alarm/timer is a nice bonus you can only get from 'smart' watches.

ECG accuracy also leaves a lot to be desired.. I was able to get definitive proof of POTS with good readings, but if my heart is going faster than 120 or beating at irregular intervals it just fails every time. Like it was trained on perfect rhythms and A-fib patterns and can't read anything else

  • Withings Steel HR here as well. Have been wearing it 24/7 for over two years now - just take it off when showering, or when I need to charge it which is roughly once a month or so. Minor gripes - the plastic screen scratches pretty easily, the tiny OLED display is - well - tiny, and the step counter takes a little while to kick in meaning that it is pretty accurate on long walks but on days when you are a little more sedentary ie just walking from the desk to the fridge and back, then I've found the likes of garmins etc to be more lenient and record more steps. So in other words, it records fewer steps per day but it is consistent so is still a good indicator on levels of daily activity.

So in short, super happy with it. Tempted to upgrade to get the sapphire glass, but mine is still working perfectly fine so will wait until it does eventually die. The scratches aren't too bad, but sometime I might try some polywatch on it.

  • IMO avoid. Sleep capture is so far off it's unbelievable and supposed to be clinical grade. I bought this and quickly changed to Fitbit Charge 5 which is far cheaper and more useful
