Looks like a good deal.
I was going to dive in to the eufy ecosystem, but with recent security issues and price increase Nest may be the way to go.Anyone have any experiences with either brand ?
I bought 3-cam Google nest set after doing a fair bit of online research. I knew about some of the cons beforehand but I still went ahead with this brand:
- They are still 1080p, so no 2k or 4k options
- $9pm for beyond 3hrs of event history (3mins max recordings); and $18 if you need 24x7 event history (plugged into power as well)
- There is slight lag in notifications - could be my nbn (50/20 plan) but not sure at this point
- They work best only if they are plugged into a power port, as otherwise they go into sleep mode and sometimes miss notifying about an event/motion
- My front yard cam (with lots of activity) battery lasts only for about 2-3 weeks maxSo I am paying $9pm and also got my cams plugged into power. I didn't want to go with those chxx based brands with known security problems.
I also figured that the best security-cam setup is the one with wired connections(lan+power), so I bought this as a temp setup for now.
If you know some JB-staff member, you could get this set for slightly less than $500.
are you happy with your decision or wish you went with another brand ?
Checking out this comparison review they mention the same experience you're having with your nest.
Yeah I saw his review videos before I bought mine. So I knew what I was getting into.
It all depends upon which features are critical for you. I am happy that I didn’t go with Eufy or similar brands and don’t mind paying for subscription $90 pa.
The ultimate setup will be to have wired cams done by some professionals. But I will keep that as a future project. So far happy with my DIY setup.
I have Google nest : hub, doorbell battery(hard wired), 1 indoor wired cam and 3 outdoor cams battery(hard wired).
Also need to consider the subscription cost if you want anything more than 3hrs of video recorded. $9/m or $18/m depending on needs.
I have two of these, the battery life is ok, but not amazing - depending on how often your cameras record. I ended up just plugging them into the connector (with seperate stand) full time which sort of defeats the purpose, but makes it less annoying.
Battery backup for power outages? But if your home network is down that's probably the next issue
Yes, you have couple of options:
- Small UPS for your modem
- 4G/5G sim as backup in the modem
got JB to match amazon's $433

I placed order with Amazon from your link but the price changed on checkout somehow, guess I'll have to cancelPics or it didn't happen
