I guess no one is reading the description.

It's BOLD and looks noticeable "It says it requires Credit Card Details, but it does NOT ask for any payment details at all"

Why do people want to use this when Microsoft Security Essentials is better and free?

    • People like to think stuffs better when you have to pay I guess?

    • +1

i agree with you,Microsoft Essential Security is good enough ;)

    • -1

MSE is SLOOOOOOOWWW. It slows down my netbook and takes hours to perform a scan. It locks up the computer while scanning downloaded files. Other malware apps are much faster and don't impact performance so much.

It probably depends what hardware you're using.

      • +1

Try uninstall it and reinstall it or use the MS essential clean up utility.

I saw it happened on some PC before it was caused by something used up 100% CPU time.

You should see it with task manager.

        • I hadn't tried that before, I've experienced MSE with extremely poor performance on three different computers, and a Google search finds many more people who found MSE very slow. It's possible MS Essential Clean Up utility might help though.

        • I have found mse appears to work fine ok with atom cpu netbook with win7
It is ideal for those with genuine windoze and no interest in digging deeper into the OS.

Alot of false positives with MSE. Avast Free is better

      • Also I can't help but feel that trusting MS with security is a bit like trusting a dingo with your baby. MS has failed me MANY times over the past twenty years, and once trust is lost it's very difficult to restore. They may have improved a lot over the past few years, but that was only after they realised their mistake with Vista.

and yet .. you continue to use their OS!? hmm

    Worked for me. Thx
Payment is only required for Internet Security software but AntiVirus is free by scrolling to the bottom of the page as previous posts suggested.

  • Thanks but I don't want to slow down my PC with this bad product.

  • works fine…. got the serial and exe.. havnet installed it hough

  • +1

I get the whole suite free through work and after using it for a few months changed back to MSE. It really slows down your PC and especially browsing

  • I don't need to give credit card details but have the S/N#. But then it somehow does NOT allow me to download it!

Does anyone has got the direct link to get the s/w download?

    Download your free copy of
    Titanium AntiVirus+ 2012

    • Did you go through the checkout and enter your details?

If your on the last page hold CTRL key when you click the download box. Also are you on a mac?

    • +1

I didn't needed Card details.. just address details and it let me download both versions (32 n 64 bit) of exe files… they both are now downloaded and sitting nicely on my USB to be installed on my PC!!

      Thanks OP!!

  • I M using a PC. I did go thru' the check out wihtout entering Cr Card details but simply press "Continue". AFTER I click the DOWNLOAD buttoon, it goes to donwload but straight away finishes with "0" byte size file.

  • Ok, it even send me a confirmation email with an invoice acknowledging my "purchase".

  • If you need a Serial Number, I'll inbox you to your OzBargain Mail box.

    • Can you please send me the serial number? Thanks!

  • Hi Moots, Thsk for your post. I don;t need aS/N as I 've got it. But enough people uses your links before I have a chance to reads your reply! So I've got the following error msg now:

    "Sorry,

Too many IP addresses: 12. You were allowed to download only from 5 different IPs.

If you have any questions, please contact Digital River Customer Service at [email protected]."

    John

  • Which AV/Internet security is least resource intensive?

  • Now, I re-do the "purchase" and get another order # & S/N #, but the same issue persist:
Download is canceled automatically half sec after I initiate it.

I have now submitted a Q of "How to Download" to them, wiating for their answer.

Thks for all the help you all give here.

  • Conclusion
Trend Micro leaped forward and took a risk in 2011, so it didn't have to in 2012. Instead, 2012 sees a solid upgrade, with some clever new offerings. If you don't care about any of the extras, though, then Titanium AntiVirus Plus 2012 might just hit your sweet spot, but even without those features it's hard to ignore the lackluster threat removal scores. The abysmal boot-time impact must be improved, too. If Titanium can polish those areas, then that would be showing some mettle we could really get behind.

  • I used an accelerator to download, but of course multiple downloads screwed it. Apparently you can only download the software via the links the page provides up to 5 times per file.

I'm not sure what the differences are, but the free trial software has "MR" in the name, and the free download mentioned here have "EL".

For those who asked, here is a direct listing of the downloads:
