          • @SimsDirect: No order number or email but I do have the email address I ordered with. So should be OK.

            Thanks.

            • @Circly: All good. Supplied a second email and that one came through instantly!

I noticed that the South East esims are with China Unicom. Wont that mean that my data goes via China when roaming in South East Asia?

    • Hey @titanix

The supplier is China Unicom, but the SEA carrier still provides the data locally.

So there won't be any impact on speed or coverage if that's what you are concerned about.

      -Aidan

      • +1

I think they may be concerned about Privacy.

  • Hey being overly cautious here probably but just want to double check my S22 Ultra is fine with the eSIM? FAQ says S22 only

    • If device specs say esim your all good brotha

    • Hey @cosmog

Totally fine to use with eSIMs :)

      -Aidan

  • Hi @SimsDirect , for USA sims, what's the speed like for hotspot / tethering. Is it 4G as well? Thanks, Ed

    • +1

      Hey @FashionLane99PetShop

The speeds will be 5G and 4G (depending on location) πŸ‘

      -Aidan

  • I'm going to Bali for a week soon… Thinking it may be cheaper to just get one upon arrival for 7 days ish? Anyone been recently and have a recommendation on this or is OPs post better value?

  • Is there a chance to buy Unlimited New Zealand eSim?

    • Hey @SickDmith

We are looking at getting them in March/April.

Just waiting for 2degrees to green light it.

      -Aidan

      • Thank you Aidan @SimsDirect
Are you going to have another sale at that point? :)
We are travelling the second week of April… I would prefer eSim but I feel like I have to buy a physical sim now while on sale to be safe and deal with pain of swapping SIM cards. :)

        • +1

          Hey @SickDmith

We do sales once every 3-4 months on Ozbargain. Nothing before April at this point.

Definitely jump in while the sale is on now and stocks last.

          -Aidan

          • @SimsDirect: Thanks @SimsDirect
Is there a way to activate NZ SIM while I am still in AU (to make sure it works)?
(sorry, have never used Travel SIM before).

  • Just bought 2 of the Europe & UK 12GB sims. Seems like a very good deal for 12GB Europe data plus 25gb UK data for $26! Thanks rep!

Only one question around the below statement:

"For a seamless experience, make sure the date you insert at checkout is the exact date you want to start using the SIM, not earlier or later."

Wording around this is a little concerning, so just double checking.

For example, if I arrive in the UK on the 29th, would i have any problems if i set the activation date as the 27th?

Does setting a slightly earlier date that isnt exact, cause issues?

    • Hey @cheesecactus

Awesome, thanks for the purchase and upvote ❀️

Try to make it as close to when you land as possible. We activate at 4AM GMT every day, so getting as close to that time is helpful!

      -Aidan

  • Can I use the travel sims for my iPad, if I don’t want the more expensive option for tablets?

    • Hey @maite

Some SIMs work in smartphones only, and some work in all devices.

Make sure to double-check the product page to confirm.

      -Aidan

  • OP, are there any options for a longer term Japan stay (almost 5 months)? If we buy a 30 day e-sim can it just be extended after each 30 day block?

Looking for the most cost effective way to do this so suggestions would be appreciated.

    • +1

      Hey @Spun

You will have to repurchase an eSIM from our website every 30 days.

OR you can purchase 5X eSIMs and hold onto them until you need them, activating one every 30 days.

      -Aidan

      • Thanks Aidan

        • πŸ‘

    • Just be aware of any Sim expiries (if applicable) from the Sim page.

Ie if the expiry is in 9 months time, don't buy 12x30days

  • Does eSIM work with iPhone 13 Pro Max? And can I keep my original sim in the phone and dual

    • Hey @gungirlyuna

Yes, your phone is eSIM compatible!

Yes, you can keep your physical SIM in your phone too πŸ‘

      -Aidan

      • Thanks Aidan I bought one and put it on my phone. I think I activated it way too early by accident.

I bought a New Zealand eSIM and thought I’d add it early but I’m only actually going to NZ in April… any chance I can stop the service and restart it only in April?

        • Hey @gungirlyuna

Reach out by email or live chat and the team can have a chat with you about it!

          -Aidan

  • Hi mate, EU & UK 30 Days (71 Countries) says it includes 12GB of data in Europe, 25GB of data in the UK

Are these two allowances separate? If I exhaust 12GB outside UK, will I still have 25GB to use in the UK?

    • Hey @R-Man

      Great question!

They feed off each other and are not separate.

If you use 25GB in the UK, you will have nothing to use in the rest of Europe. Vice versa, If you use 12GB in Europe you will have 13GB in UK remaining.

      -Aidan

      • Thanks mate I've bought one. I put an indicative activation date which I may correct in the next week or so (still 5 months before travel)

  • Morning. If I buy the US eSim and activate it in May when I go for 9 days, are the tremaining 21 days available when I return later in the year/next year? Thanks.

    • +1

      Morning @Flipfeet

No, once you activate the SIM, the 30 days of usage starts and runs until it is completely over, regardless of how much or how long you use it.

Let me know if you have any further questions πŸ€™

      -Aidan

  • Is there an eSim for South America? 40 day one would be great!

    • Hey @thealbiter

We do not have an eSIM for South America (yet), unfortunately.

Sorry I can't help you this time.

      -Aidan

  • What networks do eSIMs use in Europe and Singapore?

    • Hey @mactos

The eSIMs roam onto multiple local major carriers throughout Europe and Singapore.

It would be difficult to give you a full list of all the carriers they use.

Maybe give me specific countries and I can try find out for you.

      -Aidan

      • +1

Other providers have this information on their website.
It is helpful to know the networks you are using.
        Singapore, Germany, Austria, Italy, Spain.

  • I'm going to California and Hawaii for (20 days California and 5 days Hawaii). What gets better coverage T mobile or AT&T? Also whats the best option for unlimited data? I want to tether the two kids Ipads for long drives. Cheers

I have a Samsung S22 ultra and my wife a IPhone 11 Pro max

    • Hey @Anzac78

They are both very similar, the best way to know for sure would be to look at a coverage map on ATT and T-mobile websites.

This is the best option for tethering here

Do keep in mind that it has a 10GB limit for tethering/hotspotting.

We also have a an ATT SIM with a 10GB hot-spotting option also.

      Hope this helps!

      -Aidan

  • Grabbed a 30 day USA esim. sadly, I'm there for 35 days…

    • Thanks for the purchase and the upvote! ❀️

Yeah unfortunately most plans don't go over 30 days :(

      -Aidan

  • Hi. I'm looking at the unlimited data plan for the UK but im not travelling till the end of may. Is it ok to buy it now?
    Cheers

    • Hey @bigben75

Yeah its totally fine to buy now and hold onto it until you need it :)

      -Aidan

      • Cheers

        • πŸ‘

  • Hi, I'm going to NZ mid April, does anyone know if I can just purchase an eSIM so both the NZ and AU numbers will work on my phone? I'm on iphone 14 pro unlocked. Thank you.

    • Hey @SmallBigCat

Yep, you can receive calls from both numbers as long as you have dual SIM.

      -Aidan

  • Hi, does anyone know if you get an order confirmation from SimsDirect after placing an order? I placed an order and paid by Paypal. I didn't get a confirmation but then got an email saying that I forgot something in my shopping basket? Tried live chat but no response in over half an hour (apparently someone was supposed to respond in approximately 3 minutes)

    • Will reply to my own question. Apparently they send out order confirmations with order numbers so I think something has gone wrong with my order even though payment was confirmed by Paypal.

      • Hey @seejay80

Many customers are messaging and making purchases during our sales, which means we are all hands on deck packing orders and replying to customers.

We are working as best we can, you will just need to be a little patient.

We will get to your ticket as soon as possible and sort it out for you.

Double-check your spam for the order confirmation, and ignore the 'forgotten something' email for now.

If the payment has gone through then, it's likely the order is in our system.

        -Aidan

        • Thanks for the reply (nothing in SPAM folder). I just got worried when I got the "you let something in your basket" email. But will hold off for a couple of days and reach out if still nothing. Thanks for being such a responsive Rep.

  • +1

    Got a 30 day USA, but I'm there 37 days…… :(

    • +1

Buy another 30 day card? It's like $30.

Or walk into a store there and buy a prepaird.

tbh, giving the price, i'd just buy 2

  • Hi, just wondering if there's an expiry date for eSim? I just bought one for Japan 12 days 6gb but not travelling until December. Thanks

    • +1

      Hey @Ibuytoomuch

There is no expiry date on the eSIMs, just keep the QR code handy until you want to activate it.

      -Aidan

  • +1

Bought two, thanks. Can I ask though, why is the purchase process asking for a tip?

    • @soan papdi

Thanks for the purchase and the upvote! ❀️

It's something we brought in during Covid-19 to help with staying afloat.

We ended up leaving it as an option for customers wanting to support us as we grow (although only a very small % of people actually tip, it still helps).

      Hope that clears it up.

      -Aidan

  • I’m traveling through Europe for 7 weeks. Is there an unlimited data sim like the one for the UK?

    • Hey @bubzical

We do not have anything larger than 19GB for EU unfortunately.

Let me know if you have any further questions πŸ‘

      -Aidan

  • -1

Hello, do you happen to have a sim card for Australia and NZ? I'm thinking of buying for a relative from overseas who will be visiting Australia and NZ for around 3 weeks (2 weeks in Australia + 1 week in NZ). Thanks.

    • Hey @ddaritan

We do not sorry. You would need to get separate SIM cards for that.

We also do not offer AU SIMs (currently).

Sorry I cant be more helpful!

      -Aidan

  • Aw man, I just bought a sim last week - that timing! :(
FWIW, I've used SimsDirect multiple times in the past and have had no issues with their physical sim cards.

    • Hey @cassiopeia

Screenshot this and message the team on live chat or email, and we can refund you the 25% discount.

Thanks for the kind words ❀️

      -Aidan

      • Aw, thanks Aidan!! Much appreciated :)

  • -1

How far in advance can I purchase eSims? Got a trip planned in Sept.

    • Hey @uncompressed

You can get them as early as you like as long as it is within the expiry date (check the product pages for details on this).

Just hold onto the QR code and scan/activate it when you land.

      -Aidan

  • I noticed that the NZ SIM you provide uses 2 degrees as the underlying network provider. Are there any offerings which use Spark?

    • +1

      Hey @starbearer

We do not currently have anything for spark mobile.

Maybe in the future, if they bring out some valuable eSIMs we will consider offering them.

      -Aidan

  • Thanks OP, got a 15 day one for Azerbaijan. Last time I was there at the airport. Sim prices were a joke, I refused, even with company money!

      -Aidan

  • Hi Aidan,
how long are the Sims to Europe valid for? Haven't quite established a travel date, might be end of this year or March 2024. Thanks.

    • Hey @sabby32

Just double-check the product pages for the expiry dates, most of them do not expire though so you can buy them well in advance and hold onto them for as long as you need.

      -Aidan

      • Thanks Aidan, will do.

  • Hi,

We're traveling through Japan and Korea for 13 days in total in the coming weeks. Will we need to get the 30-day sim/sim to cover us? Just feels like a bit of a waste as the other option is 12 days

    • Hey @dmb0312

Yes, you will need the 30-day SIM for 13 days.

Hopefully, we can get a wider variety of SIMs in the future.

      -Aidan

  • Thanks op, decent price.. Bic selling 10gb 30 days for 3200yen (35 dollary doos), happy to go with this offering!

    • Hey @inamberclad

      No worries!

Let me know if you have any further questions πŸ‘

      -Aidan

  • I was considering buying the Fiji Sims. We have a 4 night there soon. But I might be better off buying a $2 Telstra sim-only, activating it before flying, then, once in Fiji, buy an international roaming pack in the myTelstra app. Not sure it would work without recharging it here. Does anyone know?

  • Hey @SimsDirect
Planning a trip to the US in May.

    1. Does the unlimited data SIMs with AT&T have any fair use issues or slow down after a certain amount of data?

    2. What's the best coverage? Travelling on the California Zephyr across 7 states, California, Nevada, Utah, Colorado, Nebraska, Iowa and Illinois. Also travelling to Ohio. Would you recommend AT&T or T-Mobile for coverage in these areas?

    Thanks!

    • +1

      Hey @dos91

      1. AT&T has a de-prioritization threshold of 22GB. This means that in cases of network congestion caused by excessive usage of the 4G data network by their customers in a particular area, if you have already exceeded the 22GB limit, your 4G data speeds may be reduced and dropped to the next available speed, such as 3.5G or 3G. AT&T does this to alleviate network congestion and prevent it from affecting their other customers who have not used as much data.

      2. For coverage; ATT is better for rural coverage as it has more 4G coverage. But T-mobile has pretty much the same coverage in cities and more 5G coverage than ATT. If you really wanted to look into it you could look at their coverage maps on their websites to find out.

Let me know if you have any further questions! πŸ‘

      -Aidan

      • Thanks, that's fantastic. Looks like T-Mobile/ultra might be a better option in the end as I see tethering is included and the fair use is 32GB.

        Thanks!

        • πŸ‘

  • We are a small group of 3 traveling to France and Italy in April. Do we need to each apply and pay separately for a sim card? I assume that we will be provided with a UK number.

    • Hey @DORMANI

You can purchase 3x SIM cards under the same order.

Yep that's right, the SIMs will have a UK number attached to them.

      -Aidan

      • Just to clarify, with 3 sim purchase each will have there own unique phone number. Is that correct? Also, will they all be required to have the same activation date?

        • have you ever seen or heard of 3 sims with the same number?

        • Hey @DORMANI

Yep that's right, each SIM will have its own unique phone number.

During checkout, you will be able to select which date you'd like each SIM to be activated.

Let me know if you have any further questions! πŸ‘

          -Aidan

  • Bought a physical sim from these people but then bought a new esim capable phone.
No problem with a full refund and purchase of the replacement esim - thanks great service.

    • Hey @wildbill

No worries, have a safe trip ❀️

      -Aidan
