And setup with the removal of your old fridge.

    • +3

      someone please explain lol

      • +5

Muzeeb tried to assist getting buyers a price error item from Dell.

The price error for example the items was priced 1999 but it was listed as 199.9 so you can see the pandemonium that erupted.

  • +4

The best price so far this year

    • What is the price usually for this model?

      • Dunno about these days but I paid 550 for this back in nov 2020

        • I paid $349 in an eBay sale I think 2021

  • +50

Also can stack with the K-12 Coupon (5% off) and coupon "AUAFFILIATES5" together to get it for $359.36.

Alternatively for a bit more of a discount, can stack with a Unidays coupon (7% off) to get the overall price at $351.78 for those who have access.

    • Can you then stack Amex for further 10% off?

      • +1

For sure, Amex will be credited 10% on top of the final order value if you have the offer available.

        • +1

do you need Gold/Platinum Amex to get the 10%? or any old Amex will do?

          • @KXRVN: You need to have been sent/eligible for the offer. I got it on my platinum, not sure what other cards got it.

    • Applying unidays code only bring it to $370.35. How to get $351.78 ? thanks

      • +1

Stack both the K-12 and Unidays codes together to get $351.78.

        • Both code override each other for me…

          • +1

@ggfatty: Are you sure you're using the K-12 Coupon for the 5% off? It should stack like this.

K-12 will override the AUAFFILIATES5% off, but it shouldn't override the Unidays offer.

            • @doweyy: You are 100% correct. I misread your comment. Now waiting for the K-12 Coupon in email…

            • @doweyy: Do you think you can stack codes with shop back too?

          • @ggfatty: Unidays override AUAFFILIATES, still cannot receive my K-12 though :(

    • Hold up.. how is 7% off 399 = $351… isn't it $370?

      EDIT: Someone wrote it. K-12

    • Confirmed it worked. Got one at that price. Cheers.

      Placed @ 16:43 AWST
      Confirmed @ 16:58 AWST

    • Thanks mav1310 and doweyy for your combined efforts.

Bought this monitor, is fantastic, I have had no issues at all with it, haven't found a better monitor for the price.

    • +2

Had one since it was first released. Really happy with it too.

    • +1

Had mine for a couple of years
      Really solid performer
Ready to upgrade to 32inch now though

  • Anyone tried hooking up a switch to this one? I've heard most 1440p monitors unfortunately suck at 1080p

    • +2

1440p monitors unfortunately suck at 1080p

should be a limitation of the switch, not in the monitor

      • I guess I'll have to wait until 4k 144 hits this price point then in a couple of years, unfortunately I only have room for the one monitor

      • +2

More so the scaling from 1080p to 1440p isn't integer

    • +10

I have, it doesn't look great. Pretty much all 1440p monitors butcher a 1080p signal. A 1080p pixel needs to fit into a 1.5 x 1.5 block at 1440p and since there's no such thing as a half pixel, some scaling and interpolation has to happen which results in blurry images
4K monitors scale much more nicely since a 1080p pixel scales into a 2x2 pixel block at 2160p

      • +1

        Thanks!

      • If you can set a switch to 720p it would probably look better, unless the monitor has really good upscaling.

      • +2

        Today I Learned … +1

    • +1

I've used this monitor with Switch and it does 1080p surprisingly well. I actually prefer it over a 1080p monitor because they can look a bit pixelly at 27" or above, whereas you can't see the pixels as much at 27" 1440p even if a 1080p image isn't as clear as a 1440p image. You will have to change the overdrive settings at 60Hz to eliminate any overshoot (super fast for 165Hz, fast for 60Hz).

    • Not this monitor specifically, but I used my switch with another 1440p 27in and it looked noticeably worse (soft) than a 1080p monitor.

  • Is this worth it for an Xbox Series X or should I go for something with HDR10 and anything else I might be missing? Currently stuck with a 1080p 60hz monitor.

    • +5

It's great with Series X. It can do 1440p, 120Hz and FreeSync. The HDR is complete garbage though, so I wouldn't use that. If you want a HDR capable monitor you will need to pay a lot more, and then I'd recommend grabbing an OLED TV like the 43" LG C2.

    • -1

      You should go 4K

      • +1

why d/votes tho? why go less than 4k if you have Series X? that's what it is for

        Series X = get a 4k/120hz capable monitor/TV

        • If I bought a Series X and didn't have 4k/120hz I would feel like I am doing it an injustice.

          • +1

            @King Steuart: my thoughts exactly!

I got a new TV with the right specs (after checking RTINGS) - low response time, low input lag, 4k/120hz/automatic variable refresh rate - just because I got a Series X

            • @shabaka: It's also funny because the guy was asking for advice and you give the actual proper advice that a 4k device deserves a 4k tv and people downvote in 2023. That ozbargain for you, though.

              • +2

@King Steuart: Probably a couple of reasons for the downvotes:

                1. Extra cost and
                2. Hardly any difference for a 27” monitor (some would rather sit at a desk and play on a 27” rather than sit in a couch and play on a 60”+ TV)
                • @ShortyX: hmmm then they probably won't get Series X, and go for Series S instead.

same reasons: extra cost, and you won't notice any difference gaming on a 1440p monitor on Series S vs Series X

the guy asked the question if this is a good fit for Series X, and to reap full benefits of Series X you need a 4k/120hz/VRR screen, and that's the correct answer.

                  • @shabaka:

hmmm then they probably won't get Series X, and go for Series S instead.

Seems like they already have an Xbox Series X - maybe they bought it for the extra storage space or physical disc drive. Or maybe they bought it for the frame rates… see next comment.

you won't notice any difference gaming on a 1440p monitor on Series S vs Series X

The difference can be noticeable, dependent on the fps. Some games on Series S won't output 120 fps at 1440p, whereas the Series X can.

to reap full benefits of Series X you need a 4k/120hz/VRR screen

Agreed. But 4K for 27" may be overkill (with a significant bump in cost).

                    • @ShortyX: yeah, true.

but Series X is so awesome on 4k/120hz that I sold my gaming laptop and not looking back

I reckon everyone should be able to get the full benefits of Series X, after all it's easy to get good TV's that can do that for you

nothing beats a 65" 4k Series X gaming setup (or PS5 for that matter), and I got my 65" TV for ~$950. that's not a lot of money for so much gaming fun, when you can see every pixel that is being pushed out.

but yeah fine, I guess if you're not into TV setup, choose any monitor that works for you, I got 4k 27" Dell for $329 but that is just for productivity, no high refresh rates.

                      • @shabaka: Not looking for a new TV, but which one did you get?

                        • @ShortyX: Samsung Frame 2021. there were crazy discounts recently, and this is one of the cheapest of the awesome TV's for gaming. VA panel, very low input lag, very quick response time, full array of HDMI 2.1 features.

it all depends on setup, if the room is always dark you can grab one of the cheaper (but still great) OLED options (Sony A80J, LG CS). they don't go very bright, but they have blackest blacks, no blooming around highlights, you are looking at $1400 for 55" at the moment

for my use case, when TV is mostly used in bright daylight, QLED is best option within my budget, and 65" for this price was a steal.

    • +3

HDR10 just means it can accept a HDR signal, doesn't speak to the capabilities of the panel (or in the case of LCD, the panel and the backlight).

    • +2

At this size it's perfect for my Series X, if you wanted a monitor any bigger I'd probably be looking at 4K@120hz, but you'll be looking at an extra $400 at minimum more than likely for 28/32"

    • +1

95% of 'hdr monitors' are just marketing, it'd be like me saying an igpu can play 4k games.

    • As mentioned already… it’s great. You get good bang for buck with 1440p, 120Hz and Freesync.

  • +1

Hi. I don't do gaming but will appreciate any advice on a decent brand work monitor please. Side by side. 27 inches or less. Thanks in advance.

    • +2

I purchased two of these for my home office/gaming setup on an OzB deal a few years ago.
These go great, perfect specs I think.

I have monitor arms for them and it was simple to install as its standard VESA.

See the Lenovo 24" 2K monitor listed at the bottom of (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/760257) for $170.99 delivered.

I use them at work and they're great, if you're ok with 24" 2k.

      Hi FBI,

I have one of these monitors and while it's been great for desktop applications (I find the dell has really great ergonomics and controls, and high refresh is still nice for office use) my feeling is that it's better as a mixed use gaming/office monitor.

I think if you are strictly using it for office application you may get better bang for buck more affordable (60hz / 1440p) or instead investing the money into a 4k screen @ 60hz.

Dell makes a comparable product in terms of features and ergonomics etc but in a 4k/60hz version, you will get better text clarity, colour accuracy, and viewing angles vs this monitor which is better for gaming feedback :)

      https://www.rtings.com/monitor/tools/compare/dell-s2721dgf-v…

      Just one opinion!

      • +1

Many thanks for your feedback mate 🙏

      • +1

Also have the 2 side by side and agree completely.

      • Since when is color accuracy related to resolution?

I do brand work myself and would not conflate the two.

        • "Dell makes a comparable product…"

Read my comment again. It was directed at a specific comparable product that Dell makes, not 4k panels in general.

          • @axthursby: Which comparable dell product has better color accuracy

      • -1

but in a 4k/60hz version, you will get better text clarity, colour accuracy, and viewing angles vs this monitor which is better for gaming

Sorry but I disagree with your analysis. Assuming both monitors are 27", if you are sitting 79cm from the monitor you will not notice a difference in text clarity (according to benq's best viewing distance charts). Sure, 4k allows you to dit a bit closer, but why would you want to sit so close to a monitor? Colour accuracy does not depend on resolution whatsoever. While this panel isn't known to be accurate, there's not going to be an accurate panel at this price point. Which honestly doesn't matter unless you need a reference panel. And viewing angles on this panel are 178 degrees, which is the highest of the three standard monitor types.
Conclusion: for only desktop use 1440p/4k at 27" is much the same. It is best to weight up the other features and prices of the monitors.
Personal opinion: high refresh rate feels amazing, even just in desktop and browser use. If you do a lot of scrolling, consider trialing a high refresh rate (120hz+) monitor and scroll around in a word document or browser.

        • Well, it's not really my analysis if I'm being honest. And the comments I made about colour accuracy, viewing angles etc are specifically directed at Dell's sibling product and analysis of rtings.com who IMO have a pretty objective approach to reviewing panels.

          https://www.rtings.com/monitor/tools/compare/dell-s2721dgf-v…

I agree that using high refresh rate is nice for desktop applications, I would still opt for a 4k panel for things like watching videos and having a better image.

          • @axthursby: If your explanation is based on rtings explanation, then the issue is with judging text clarity based on such a zoom, when it won't be perceived at a reasonable viewing distance.

The s2721dgf scored higher in colour accuracy when calibrated (which if youre doing any colour work you will obviously be calibrating). The initial colour score also seems surprisingly low. A lot of the other things like black uniformity vary so greatly from panel to panel that it seems almost dangerous for them to include such a result with only a single sample.

No comment on vertical viewing angle, but the s2721dgf has superior horizontal viewing angles according to their testing, so to say one has better viewing angles is only a half truth.

    • +4

for work specifically, the other, cheaper Del 27" QHD monitors are better value. This is a gaming monitor, so it has a bunch of features you won't need.
      @ the Dell store: https://www.dell.com/en-au/shop/dell-27-monitor-s2721ds/apd/…

NB: it has been cheaper, about $220ish I think.

      • +1

I concur, i have one of each. Like a mullet business at the front, party at the back (gaming)

        • +1

I had that exact setup until I switched to the Dell 38" ultra wide, highly recommend if you're ever thinking about switching to a single monitor setup

      • Many thanks mate. It's priced at $304.70..just wondering if I should wait or jump the extra $$ on this one (DGF 27).. Decisions decisions - :))

        • From a productivity point of view you don't need to spend the dollars, buy 2 of the QHD, i bought the model with the adjustable stand. If you game its well worth a couple if extra pennies

  • +1

    Great find OP

  • Hi guys I need to switch between mac and windows (2 different machines) is it best for its purpose?

    • Just a FYI, I do use these fine with a Mac however I believe there's some colour accuracy profile issues. For just desktop duties, it's fine however production I think you need to be careful. I believe it's something to do with sRGB/YPBPR.

Just another heads up for the mac, to get adaptive refresh rates, you MUST be on the DisplayPort, which can be a problem given there's only one DP in.

Honestly, it's fine and I just use HDMI @ 120hz for Mac desktop. My PC's on the DP for actual gaming/Adaptive Sync.

      • Thanks mate, I’m after one for office use only not gaming

        • +2

For office use only 144hz is a bit overkill.

If you're swapping between machines a kvm switch might be an advantage, or if one is a laptop usb c with pd would be another advantage.

          • -2

@snep: Totally wrong, 60hz is basically unusable for office use. Too choppy! You want a fast monitor that's smooth for office work.

        • +1

Yeh, it's totally fine for this use. Once you've desktop'd on high refresh rates, I can't go back to 60/75 hz haha.

          • +2

@spite: Well, there's nothing wrong with using high refresh for office work either. I also like the smoothness! But I wouldn't necessarily be recommending to spend the extra for it, especially if there are other, potentially more relevant features to OP's requirements on other monitors (like kvm/type c that I mentioned).

      • Why not use 144hz with HDMI?

        • I just prefer to use the PC's with as little noise as possible. I can't see the diff between 120/144 but I can hear the diff when the GPU fans wanna spin up (using an eGPU) :D

          • @spite: Roger that. I’m using a base Mac mini m2 with this monitor set to 144hz on hdmi and it’s silent

            • @djevoultion: Yeh Mac GPU's are crazy efficient & silent! :) Works fine for sure! I am just sad Apple won't give us VRR on the HDMI port :(

  • +1

Anyone got a spare unidays code they don't need? Would be greatly appreciated.

    • +1

I'ill grab a second code if anyone has spare please. thanks in advance.

    • i cant offer mine as i just used it, but thanks for reminding me it exists haha

  • Good deal, been using it for more than a year and I love it!

  • -1

How do these go as a dual setup?

  • +1

Great monitor Been using one for 3yrs +. Highly recommended

  • +2

has anyone notice that dell has stopped the listing on ebay?

  • +3

I just bought this monitor 2 days ago… Should have waited for the sale lol

    • +1

How dare you not know this was going on sale? 😝
