Doubt it beats the Panasonic
I was going to say the same before reading your comment. Yes, Panasonic seem to be the best.
which panasonic model?

I don't know anything about the Breville, but the Panasonic machine is well reviewed.
@Aureus: thanks!
I have recently purchased this and it’s excellent for plain bread. But be buggered if I can find any ‘tailored’ sourdough bread recipes for this machine. So if you’re buying this for making sourdough, good luck.
Had two Panasonic bread makers back to back. The first on broke down after ~6 years of heavy use. So, happily bought another Panasonic to replace. But the Teflon coating of the pan was already falling off within one year of use. Bought another replacement pan, same problem. Since we are not intending to have any Teflon intake, and Teflon free bread maker is hard to find, maybe lower baking temperature that can be customized with this bread maker can help prevent coating falling off prematurely (source: https://momsbakingco.com/bread-maker-without-teflon/)
Do you need yeast for these things?
Yep
For baking bread loaves like you'd normally picture, you need yeast and no machine can change it. In case your are in a market for a yeast-free bread machine.

Have had this breadmaker for 9-10 years and still going strong.
The only thing i had to replace was the internal light bulb and the paddle.
Better than the Phillips one?
