    that's a really good deal!

"This charade of clearing GPU stock through selected distributor discounts without dropping inflated retail card prices can continue forever" -- Jacket Man

    • Well ChatGPT has gone too smart IMHO

      • +1

"Oh, of course! Why drop the inflated prices of our graphics cards when we can just offer some "selected distributor discounts" and make it seem like we're doing our customers a favor? After all, why make less money when we can keep our profits high and still get rid of some of our stock? Who cares if it means that gamers and enthusiasts will have to pay exorbitant prices just to get their hands on a decent graphics card? It's not like they need to eat or pay rent, right? As long as we're making money, that's all that matters!" - ChatGPT

        • As long as people are paying huge amounts for these GPUs, they will keep pricing up.

    • So… You can only get a discounted GPU if you buy a whole PC. But buying GPU standalone is still at inflated prices.

Theory… Because people who buy whole PC are less inclined to spend on GPU on account of just spending on rest of the PC. Whereas GPU upgraders have a bit more spare cash, so there is a bit more gouging to be done.

  • +4

Great price and specs! Considering current prices, this is CHEAP AS in my books. Great deal rep!

    • +3

Wonder why the neg vote on this comment lmao. Someone must not like the deal or has too much to spend

      • +1

Probably because prices are so artificially inflated, that when a mediocre deal (but it's a rigid bundle which is a big limitation) comes along, it SEEMS amazing.

Imagine Colesworth prices literally doubled, but you could buy preset weekly shop bundles at the old price - which perhaps has your staples, but is missing a few things you want. Would you be chuffed and excited?

The whole situation has come together to either gouge you buying individual parts via high cost, or to gouge you for buying bundles of the cheapest crap (to them) that they want to get rid of at mediocre, but still somewhat inflated cost.

Not terrible if you wanted a full PC anyway and get lucky with a decent deal matching what you want - shithouse for everyone else.

        • -1

The "shithouse for everyone else" would be those who probably know how to build a rig. Others, who this rig would be convenient for, might want it for their kids, grandparents, dog down the road.
Not everyone knows how to build a rig and not everyone knows what parts are a good price, which brands to pick. That's the point of a pre-built rig.
"Shithouse for everyone else" you're awesome mate! 😀

          • @teddiebear: You've completely missed the point mate.

This isn't about slagging prebuilts. If the situation was normal, prebuilts would be at a good price, not just mediocre, and you'd get more choice too. Reminder though: DIY has always been cheaper, and for the hugely obvious reason of it not having to pay for labour.

Yet that isn't the case anymore. Because everyone is getting fleeced here, just less so those who happen to want exactly what this prebuilder happens to put out, at the time they happen to put it out at.

  • Would this setup including the 3070Ti be any good for some machine learning?

    • +2

      What level of machine learning?

My 3080 10GB has been fine for undergraduate level stuff, mate has the 3070 and its been fine too.

    • It is about as fast as a colab.

I don't think you'll be working with it for a while, otherwise you wouldn't be asking this question.

so yes, if you're just learning ML, that's enough.

    • For Neural network, 3070Ti is quite fast, but not much VRAM compare to 3090 or 3060 12GB, so you would need to lower precision or restrict model size. 3060 12 GB might be a better option if you wanna try some pretrained model with half precision. And Intel with integrate GPU might help you free up all the VRAM for your model.
For CPU based machine learning, You probably need more RAM for some algorithms, and normally high clock single core performance is more favourable.
Better to build your own machine for machine learning. Used 3090, Ryzen 5000 series and RAM are dirt cheap now, just motherboard price is ridiculous ATM.

      • 3090 is dirt cheap now? Seriously?

        • Im talking about used market, You can get one close to $1200 - $1300, according to my local FB marketplace

          • +2

@s20525xxx: That's not bloody 'dirt cheap'. Especially not for used.

            • @Grazz989: It depends on how u look at it.

              • @s20525xxx: Buying a used video card is a lottery……. I would never do it personally, regardless of the perceived "saving" as you are very likely going to end up with a faulty GPU.

              • +2

@s20525xxx: Mate, unless you're looking at it from your mansion in Vaucluse, it's not dirt cheap, full stop. For a used, last-gen card? You're out of your godamn mind. It wasn't long ago at all that we were scoffing at the idea of paying $1,000 for a Titan class card when you could pay $700-750 for a card with equal flagship perf.

                • -1

@Grazz989: Like I said, depends on how you look at it. For machine learning that need the VRAM, Cuda cores and Cudnn, the alternative (4090) is way more expensive.
If you only use 3090 for gaiming, then off couse, there are cheaper choices.

Used cards do come with risks. But if everyone keeps buying brand new cards only, then Nvidia and AMD will just keep jacking up prices. Again, depends how u look at it. personally, I like to buy bargain used parts, and build things myself. Just saying

                  • @s20525xxx: I don't think you understand the meaning of the phrase "dirt cheap"

  • Would the average user notice any wifi performance difference between the motherboard upgrade (MSI Tomahawk Max WiFi) as opposed to the AX1800 adapter?

    • +2

Unlikely. Best to avoid usb wifi if you can. If you do notice issues there probably won't be a decent fix other than hardwairing it (which is always preferable).

  • +3

Good to see the MAG Forge case still going strong!

  • +1

Is it worth getting it with windows? Or any other upgrades ? Thanks looks to buy new PC been out of the game for a very long time.

    • +5

No don't get windows its just a waste of money. You just get a watermark which you can get rid off for free using a quick windows search.

      • Thanks I thought that about windows. Is the upgraded motherboard worthwhile?

        • Are you buying this pc for gaming/intensive workloads? If you are then I would recommend it, provided u can spare the expensive upgrade. The b550 tomahawk is a high end motherboard so the thermals will be great on it and coming with wifi is a decent bonus

          • @tf75r7fyuff: Thank you again, Yeah games and normal day to day stuff. Nothing crazy but I want it to last for a long time. My old PC is one I built in 2010 it's pretty much dead.

    • Find anyone dumping a Win 7 PC and grab the key from the sticker (even OEM, but then remove the sticker so only you have it). It activates Win 10/11.

      • Cool idea thank you 😊

  • Ouch, prices dropping fast. Only a month ago got a very similar build from them but with a R5 5600 and Bronze PSU for $1488!

  • Which brand of the GPU normally used by TechFast?

  • I need a new PC. I want to order this but I'm worried it may take a month or two to be delivered

    • +1

Mine took almost 1 month to be dispatched.

  • How is it compared to:
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/757277

Is the price justifiable? Gpu is better on this deal but 12400f seems superrior than 5700?

    • Hey there! the 5700x actually beats out the 12400f in the majority of games, and even in multi-core situations the 5700x performs even better! You're probably using Userbenchmark which is a horrible site because they are incredily skewed towards intel over AMD, which is understandable since its the first link anyone sees. I would highly recommend just using youtube instead for cpu/gpu comparisons from big youtubers. But yes, (in my opinion) this deal is actually very worth it. The only thing is that the gpu brand might be a bit strange but it will still be superior to any 3070.

      • +1

If its a Gainward Phantom as per above, it is nothing to be concerned about. Solid graphics card.

    • GPU will matter a lot more at 1440p or higher.

  • Has the code expired? I’m getting an error message.

  • Value is a bit weak against say a 5700X/3060 Ti build for $1000ish. Paying like 70% more on the GPU side of things for 25% more performance.

    • Isn't $1395 already at 1000ish? What price do you think it should be with the 3060Ti?

  • Meh … I’ll keep waiting

  • MSI PRO B550M-P GEN3: may struggle with CPU & GPU on hot days.
    Max. Airflow: add 3 x 140mm fan @ TOP-vents.
Definitely monitor the MSI Mobo temp.
May be read widely to confirm the above ?

Deals are getting cheaper: all tiers-> https://www.ozbargain.com.au/user/275049/nodes

  • I have a 5600x and 3070 build with a few extra components I've added myself… So very tempted to buy this, swap out the better parts, and sell the older PC! Things like life of case/cooler/PSU fans, life of GPU etc.
Someone please tell me that I won't be able to sell my old PC for this price because they're going way above that on gumtree/ebay

    • How much did it cost you to build it yourself?

      • Bought this deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/615611

With upgraded x570 Wifi Mobo, 32gb ram, 1tb ssd, $2300 delivered from memory. How times have changed. Added some storage and extras etc on my own

  • This or https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/757616 ?
I am not sure in which one has better value/worth/longevity.

  • -1

Hi, I wish to use my own SSD, is there any chances I can bring it to you to build the system?

    • +1

The answer will be no. Just plug it in yourself when you get the box.

  • good build

  • +2

Placed an order with this (profanity). Now asking driving license, utility bill, photo id. Paid using one time credit card. Now want to verify using deposit amount. Won’t cancel the order. Asking 25% restocking fees. Be careful with cheap shit Techfast. Selling cheap shit but pretend selling Ferrari or million $$ house.

    • -1

I didn't buy it, why do they want you to provide driving license, utility bill, photo id?
This information can be used for scam.

      • +1

Anyone else had to give this amount of information after buying?

      • Sorry which sellers have this validation process?

I make purchases online almost once a day and NEVER get asked for such identification info…….

  • Oh dear, the Graphic card is worth 1000 dollar, Can I buy this PC and stripe the graphic card out, and sell the rest. Wonder how much I can sell the rest for

  • +4

@enigmapc can you guys do something similar or better? would prefer to purchase from someone in Sydney.

    • Second this, I missed the rtx 3060ti deal..
If they can do a 3070ti or 3080 that would be great.

      • All their builds are overpriced

  • Any chance for an option for a White case?

  • If only you could pick a better quality PSU brand since InWin is just average

  • Anyone from Sydney have any experience purchasing from these guys?

I'm concerned that the pc is going to be damaged and they might try and make it difficult to return it, after reading the Refunds and Returns Policy at the bottom of the page: "Title to the product(s) passes to you when TechFast delivers it to the carrier."

Last thing I want is to spend $1500+ on a pc that has a cracked panel/damaged internals during delivery and having to chase a refund/replacement.

    • +1

Bought a system from them more than a year ago. Bit of a wait but arrived in good condition.

      • Appreciate you sharing your experiences. That's a relief. How did you find your system from them?

Were there any issues that crept up with the build that showed up over the coarse of the year (parts failing, etc)?

Also I'm moving from a laptop to this system and one of the first things I always have to do with Dell laptops, etc, is reinstalling the entire OS and drivers after getting it in the mail, to improve performance/remove bloatware. Did you find you had to do something similar with your system? Or were they pretty much "ready to use" out the box?

Sorry for all the questions, and thanks again.

        • Had issues with usb disconnecting but this is an AMD issue and not a Techfast issue. Bios updates have made the problem less annoying but still there. Have added quite a bit more to the base configuration but no real issues relating to the unit itself. Board I received is different from spec but I preferred the board I got (similar pricepoint). I'm comfortable buying from them again if needed.I immediately changed my boot drive to an nvme so couldn't really comment on the out of the box experience :P. Used the drive it came with in an older system which is still working well to date. Bios settings were in default, had to enable xmp for ram (tweaking) and disable Trusted Platform (again AMD issues).

    • I bought this one and received it after 4 weeks (1 week of which I didn't realise they'd requested me to verify a small charge, so took an extra week)

It came in perfect condition with everything set up and ready to go. Couldn't be happier with it.

      • Thanks, this sounds promising regarding others awaiting our orders. Will tick over 4 weeks wait next week for me.

  • I ordered this PC on 8 March, order no #TF4862084611, and still haven't received any notification other than the order confirmation email. Is there anyone who can help? @luketechfast

    • @ozgokhan0 - I pulled trigger 12th March and I've had nothing too. I emailed them yesterday and no response yet. Have you emailed them?

Anyone else had joy, or it just radio silence for a month then hope for a dispatch confirmation?

      @luketechfast?

      • Yes, I reached them on their "contact us" page. First Caleb said it will be delivered late March. Last week I sent another message. Last Tuesday Caleb said it is getting built up and ready to dispatch in the "next few days" but still no update. The website says allow 14 days to dispatch. It's been 3.5 weeks ridiculous. Please update me if you receive any reply.

        • @ozgokhan0 received following update from Caleb, no ETA provided :(

"Apologies for not getting back to you sooner.

Unfortunately, we are working through some supply challenges and doing our best to work through the order queue as quickly as possible.

We are hoping to have this ready to ship as soon as possible.

Once it ships, you will receive an email with the shipping information.

Thank you so much for your patience and understanding.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

          Kind Regards"

          • +1

@bassiveguitar: Yeah got the same message today.
I wonder if a person cancel do they still want the 25% restock fee? Seeing as they don’t have stock.

            • @Swyft winters: @Swyft winters, I emailed them again to see if they can work with their management on providing on ETA and backlog, I got again the exact same copy and pasted response. Shame :(

              • @bassiveguitar: That's a shame! I also still waiting for "the next few days" to dispatch.

                • @ozgokhan0: @ozgokhan0 @Swyft winters - finally got dispatch email today, hope same has happened for you!
