    Ive been looking at moving back to Aussie from superloop, anyone seen any other decent returning customer deals? (over 6months)

    • My initial discount with Superloop had ended, looking for the next best deal now….

      • yea check under your special offers, i got $15 a month off now on their biggest plan

  • does ABB consider you to be a new customer after being away for 6 or 12 months? I know superloop is 12 months

  • Would it be better to cancel and sign up or just sign up and let ABB handle the connection? Would prefer the least down time option but some ISP requires notice before ending the service

    • who are you currently with & what technology (HFC, FTTC etc)?

      • TPG FTTC no contract

        • I believe TPG requires 30 days notice I may be wrong, if so cancel & confirm the date with them then signup with ABB & set the connection date to a few days before the TPG date that way you shouldnt have much down time at all

          • @Irishness: Canceled with TPG last year and went to ABB, 30 day’s notice is required, I had already signed up to ABB so I had two services running for maybe 15 days, TPG also have to contact you after you cancel the service (I believe to ask you why and hopefully keep you with them) so it not as easy as just canceling on the portal and it’s automatically done. I had gone from a FTTN from TPG to FTTP provided by ABB

            • @Chipotleclearance: ah ok, not sure it's possible to run 2 FTTC services though so I'd assume ABB would just take over the TPG service (via NBN co) cutting it off but for those reading this I would certainly be asking the question to both ABB & TPG

                @Irishness: I did confirm for my FTTC that my FTTC does not support dual provider so someone will be cut off. Not sure about other NBN types. When I switched to TPG, TPG said they would cut the connection from previous provider but I disconnected before so ended up with a few days of no internet.

                • @samuellim18: so do what I had suggested & you will be fine, @Chipotleclearance had 2 services as he had 1 on each technology as he upgraded to FTTP from FTTN I think it's only FTTP that you can have 2 services running at the same time which doesn't affect you

              • @Irishness: Not sure, ABB is fantastic tho with their support, ABB said to keep the service with TPG active until the home phone number was transferred and active with ABB voip service (can lose the number etc), I didn’t really care as I never use the number but my parents do (I actually live in a private rental owned by my parents, live next door to them so we share the service between us) and proceeded to still cancel the service, no issues when I got the hardware and connected it up 5 months later. I believe it would be up to nbn co to transfer your line details from one provider to another, Years ago when Telstra owned most of the exchanges they were the ones who’d hold up the process when in theory it was a quick process (again no knowledge on this just from people who worked with Telstra)

  • How does this work when switching and trying to use my existing Optus modem. I can't find much on whether I need a new modem or if my current one will work with other providers???

      [edited] see below comment looks like you are out of luck, you could always just pickup a cheap Telstra Smart Modem Gen 2 for $20 on marketplace or gumtree & it'll work

      if you are able to login & change a few settings it should be fine, you will find online instructions or use the ABB tech support (who are great)

      Your Optus modem will not work with any other providers as the settings are locked /greyed out.

      • @IrrumaboRex You are wrong @henryrollins what Optus modem/router model do you have? I can tell all for a fact that most (not sure if all) Optus modem/routers are happy with any provider that provides an IPoE delivered NBN connection whether that be over FTTN/FTTC/FTTP or HFC. Optus is an ISP that uses IPoE and so does Aussie Broadband.

        NOTE: PPPoE delivered NBN however will NOT work with an Optus modem/router. I had an Optus Ultra WiFi (Sagemcom F@ST 5366 LTE) and it worked with Aussie Broadband with no issues whatsoever.

        Perhaps some research is needed before commentators here who apparently do no research make incorrect statements here. Could have saved the OP money if correct information was provided from the get-go.

        • Research was done and Optus reimbursed me for locked out modem. Don't preach to others what they know from their experience.

    Not sure if that's because I'm with a resold ABB product (Origin) or not.
    Edit: yes that seems to be it. Tried with a different address and code works.

      You might be able to call and get them to apply the code manually. I have done this in the past. Using the automated process though, you need to be six months away from Aussie and Origin.

  • Why do you need to cancel straight away? I thought if you really want to cancel, you could cancel before the next billing cycle?

    Just signed up at 9:30pm on Sunday and was activated at 10pm. Didn't know NBN churn works on the weekends

    However looks like my speed dropped. I was getting 92Mpbs on Superloop and now I'm only getting 87Mpbs on ABB.

    This is a better value than the $10 off per/month deal if you stay less than 6 months.
