  • Well worth it, a 6 meter extension cable would cost more

  • Are these a store special only folks?

    • yes
$15 and out of stock everywhere near me

Store specific clearance price, check the price at your local first… I/N 0353563 (RRP $15 / PP $14.25)

  • Looks like its just an RCD, not a RCBO, so no overload protection included. Super cheap though.

I guess I'm viewing this as a 6m extension cord for $4. Any kind of ABCD beyond that is an added bonus.

You gotta use the correct pronouns!

    • not sure i would trust a circuit breaker at this price point anyway.

      • Just take it into work when they’re doing a ‘Test & Tag’…
A 10 amp circuit breaker is like $6 ( or less https://directwholesale.com.au/products/clipsal-mcb4110-mcb-… ) and won’t save a life, just a conductor if it’s faulty, rather than the other way around.

You should definitely use one of these if you’re joining extension leads.

        • Ah so this kind of breaker won't trip to off if someone is getting electrocuted?

          • @Hazza: Yup.
            RCD will save your life

CB will save the cables, relays, and stuff

Surge protectors and filters protect equipment

            • @PlaunsJanus: Ah great I thought that was the case. Very cheap insurance just in case.

        • @PlaunsJanus "You should definitely use one of these if you’re joining extension leads."

          Why is this?

@Gravity: There's a requirement in the Australian Electrical Standards which requires a distance from the RCD… I cannot quote it right now

But other than Australian Standards. Distance from the RCD will affect the trip time, which is part of the testing.

Primarily or secondary I'm not sure, but if an extension cord is coiled or wound the RCD may not detect the loss of current fast enough either because the current provided by an EMF in such a situation or otherwise, like running parallel to another conductor, it will affect the RCDs ability to detect the current lost in a time set by the Australian standards.

These standards/wiring rules are there to prevent and minimise damage, loss of life bla bla. You can't bend a rule without breaking another in general terms. If you do so, and are licensed it may result in suspension, cancellation review of your licence(s) and potentially criminal charges from damage to manslaughter etc

          • @Gravity: Short answer:
To ensure the safety of self and others

Saw in Chatswood NSW this arvo, probably about 5 left. On trolley at the top of the travelators - $7.50 each.

  • $15 in WA Harrisdale Bunnings.

$20 is the rrp. $15 is the "clearance" price. $4 is the real clearance price. the other stores are trying to get max $ at the shelf price. this is tricking ppl into thinking they are getting a heavily discounted price. remember, rrp is what it states. recommended retail price from manufacturer.
the store i went to, refused to discount. even tho they knew soon it will go down to $4.
this product will no longer be stocked.

the staff i checked with had great pleasure in denying me the $4 price
