Well, I am a poor man.

  • +2

I always wanted to know what my skin temperature was…

"showers, are you insane?? Just because I can be dunked underwater doesn't mean you can lightly splash water on me too!"

Mobvoi have a terrible reputation for devices not actually being waterproof, even though the devices submitted for certification obviously were.

  • don’t need at all yet bought one, thanks OP.

  • So You can swim in a pool & have it in the rain, but can't shower with it?

    • People said the same thing last time.

    • maybe it can only stand water but not soap?

    • +1

I think this is a general thing for all watches not just smart ones.
      https://theslenderwrist.com/watch-in-the-shower/

      • In summary, if you want to shower with your watch:

        • Cold shower
        • Don't touch touch any buttons
        • Don’t use soap

Not waterproof. Had 2, both died in the pool.

    • +2

It's only water proof 50 meters down. No more , no less.

      • +1

        That is one deep pool.

If only they could add a sim slot

Any recommendation for a cellular watch which can take a sim and work without a phone ?

Apple cellular watch is a scam - won’t work without a phone and only top 3 telcos OWN it and wants me to pay $59/month minimum to make use of the cellular features of my cellular watch

    • There is a hack for samsung lte watches provided you can get the esim activation code and then apply it manually

  • Has the coupon code disappeared?

For $40 maybe not an issue. But Mobvoi have a shocking reputation for support and update and communication etc.
If you buy one of these, consider yourself on your own.

    • You can always return it to Amazon if any issue.

Do I have anything to worry about with these Chinese smartwatches being connected to my phone (samsung), in regards to security?
I've always liked the idea to easily see notifcations/who's calling at while I'm at work without caring if a $40 watch breaks, but get put off thinking if they would log my inputs.

It's such a mixed bag if you search google on this that I don't know what to believe.

    • The app is already data harvesting you back to a chinese server. As a Cybersecurity Analyst that a major no.

  • Code is back

  • I'm going to suppose these won't last half a day with 24/7 HR monitoring..
