I think this is the cheapest I've seen them at JB, maybe trying to get rid of old stock.
Decent price to get 6 pro for essentially 6a retail price
Edit: They removed the white 128gb. Link now only shows Sorta Sunny

what???
You have no idea what you are talking about.
Weird, I've had none of those issues with my Pro. Maybe mine's faulty.
@scottb721: No issues with my pro either. I even dropped it into a pool.
@scottb721: Mine must be faulty as well
@scottb721: Mine also must be faulty. Had it since release day
@scottb721: Mine was perfect from day one - however, it was purchased four months after release date. I think that some early batches did have a fingerprint issue - I've seen my friends phone that was purchased on released date and had that horrible FP bug.
Yep. Mine did the same. Then the screen started growing black spots all over.
Was a hell of a fight to get a refund from Google, but in the end they came through.
Shame though - I've had the Pixel 2XL and 2 3XLs. This was the first I've had issues with and probably will be the last after that support experience.
@deva5610: American companies trying to skirt local laws by denying a warranty claim.
I hear google is amongst the worst.
Nah, skip it and grab the P7. The P6 is a tainted product and the P7 is available for just a little more.
it's true that P7 isn't much more expensive than P6 Pro, but Pro version has better screen, more RAM than non-pro version.
True, it's a great(er) phone overall. But from a resale perspective the P6P isn't a wise choice because of the well publicised software issues (real or imagined). I'd advise people to grab the P7P but that's in another price bracket.
yeah, double this price…
@luminair: Double? I bought my P7P (256GB) for $1,149 from JBHiFi.
@[Deactivated]: Was even just shy a grand in the last couple weeks I believe, using cash back and something I think I saw someone post.
@[Deactivated]: Sorry, I exaggerated.
@luminair: A subliminal embellishment, nothing more.
Exactly, get the 7 or 7 Pro, no point getting the 6 unless it was a lot cheaper, but pretty average phone anyway (worse than the 5 for battery, annoying AF fingerprint scanner etc).
The FP unlock isn't great on the 7 either (in low light hopeless) but face unlock is the saving grace (also doesn't work in low light).
Depends if you really need telephoto and bigger screen.. I actually like the slightly smaller p7 and longer battery is great, the screen is still impressive - not worth spending too much on these when they are worth stuff all a year later (luckily cost me very little with the JB hi-fi pre-release deal at the time.
P6 isn't a very good device terrible battery life i actually thing the hardware was defective had to sell mine
I don't understand why people like to buy such phone while you can get something else that's much better
Not going to get a better phone for $779 imo
So many reasons. Stock Android, monthly updates for many years, Google home integration, and the cameras are scary good. The screens are nice, too.
Love my camera. A few bands use my pics and even had a couple of Google accounts chime in with comments.
I miss the OG Pixel
Would love to put a new battery in mine :-(
My og pixel is so slowwwwww
I did that last year to my OG Pixel XL just to have lifetime free Google Photos uploads.
I loved the Pixel 3. So, when I needed to upgrade to a telephoto camera phone, I bought the Pixel 6 Pro.
It's the only phone I've ever returned.
Battery life was rubbish. The in-screen fingerprint reader rarely worked. I don't think there was facial recognition, so it was fingerprint or code/pattern only. That would have been fine, because capacitive fingerprint reader on Pixel 3 was great, but the Pixel 6 in-screen reader was horrible no matter what tricks I tried. Pain in the ass to unlock. It made me dislike the phone every time I went to use it.
I know that I had other problems with it, but those two really ruined the phone for me and come straight to mind.
Recap:
1. Always having charge anxiety from a phone that won't last, you feel like you're living tethered, hopping from charge cable to charge cable.
2. Unlocking the phone is a pain in the ass. The in screen fingerprint reader was trash.
It sounds like the Pixel 7 is a great phone in comparison to the 6, but I've since joined the dark cult of iPhone and suckle at Tim Cook's poisoned nipple.
Honest review, though as you noted all of these issues including the poor reception issues were fixed in the 7 series.
My biggest issue with Google's 6/7 approach is that the pro always has that stupid curved glass, which is actually just worse. It feels worse, looks worse, it makes protecting it harder and is at the same time more expensive to replace.
Wish I didn't have to choose between a flat screen (with a better size) and the 120hz and telephoto lens bells and whistles.
Hated the curve severely when I got it but have long since stopped noticing it thankfully.
Hate curved screens too. The only reason I didn't get the 7 Pro, hoping 8 Pro will have a flat screen.
But looking at iPhone 14 Pro Max, really feel like switching to it.
I'm with you on the curved screens.
Most screen protectors won't protect them properly or have haloing at the edges.
Protective cases either cover the curved edges (and prevent touch controls that need input from edge), or else only have protruding protection on the four corners, leaving the four edges of the curved glass exposed to damage. The latter is fine if you drop it on perfectly flat floor, but not if you drop it on curbing, grid mesh, or a bitumen road.
Flat screens (or maybe folding when it gets better) for me.
Absolutely with you on hoping for a good foldable sometime soon. That isn't $2000+.
Another reason I got the 7 not the 7 Pro - flat screen. Makes it way easier getting a screen protector on and more options. Dumb how they curve the corners on some glass, guess don't worry about a screen protector (Pretty risky going bareback, just like a case.. given how slippery these phones are).
I love Google but this was a crap phone, I returned mine after 3 months, constant network dropouts!! What a pain it was!
Why people hate curve screen? I love them I trade in my galaxy s22 just because is not curve I reckon is subjective.
Do you use a screen protector or a case?
I've had one phone with a curved screen and didn't love it because it made using screen protectors such a pain in the butt. I ended up using it without a screen protector which isn't my preference.
I have a feeling most people who hate/dislike the curved screen want to be able to use a screen protector without hassle.
The only screen protector that actually works is Whitstone Dome. Fingerprint reader is as responsive as without it. Truly the best screen protector for any phone. UV glue and the glass they use is of the highest quality there is. The only "issue" is cost and installation that can take some time (but well worth it).
I stupidly listened to people like you who convinced me that curved screens were a non-issue once you got used to them. How wrong I was.
I bought a Galaxy S20 Ultra and it's the most painful experience I've ever had with a mobile phone. Three months in and the experience is getting worse, not better. I try to avoid using the phone because it's so frustrating.
Curved screen means there's nowhere to grip the phone without brushing the edges of the screen. At night in bed if I don't rest it perfectly in the sweet spot I either bump the edges or the phone falls on my face. I have a callus on my left hand from trying to grip the phone without it falling or bumping the edges.
My fingertips curving around the bezel-less screen block content I'm trying to look at, so despite having a higher screen resolution than my old mobile, I can see less content.
If I decrease the sensitivity of the screen edges it's almost impossible to select checkboxes in Evernote, or select text and items at the far edges of the screen. Typing YouTube comments is painful because brushing the screen edges switches to the next video or closes the text box. Reliably tapping screen edges to access menus during Remote Desktop sessions is extremely difficult. Except of course when I bump them by accident all the time when I don't intend to, because I'm just trying to hold the phone without dropping it.
Photos look like ass because the edges are faded so despite having a larger screen than my old Note 3, you need to zoom in to see images without distortion that isn't present on a flat screen.
I assume if you only use your phone for Instagram and Facebook curved screens are probably just fine, but when trying to do real work such as text editing, photo editing, remote desktop they are awful.
I bought a case that improves usability slightly but it blocks the screen edges so it's harder to tap when needed. Planning to offload this S20 once I find something more practical and less flawed.
I hope that you can flip the phone and buy a replacement quickly.
A phone that you hate just makes every day needlessly worse than it has to be.
6 pro or 7a within $800 budget.
6 pro. The original problems are addressed at this point. If you look at current reviews they are a decent, well liked phone. Original reviews were bad because there were problems when it came out. Hardware ≥ 7
Updated from 3a to 6pro. Miss the fingerprint reader at the back of 3a. It was easiest and most convenient location. Night vision camera on 3a still beats 6pro.
Battery life sucked on both though
Anyone know when the sale finishes?
I'm not sure, it doesn't show in their Catalogue. But the recent catalogue sale ends March 1. So maybe this will end same time.
The white 128gb appears to be out of stock now too. So maybe until stock lasts.
