25% off Samsung 45W Travel Adaptor $50 + Delivery ($0 C&C/ in-Store) @ Harvey Norman

91

Was looking for a new charger for my phone and came across this. Deal is available in store and online @ HN.

Note: there are 2 versions of this charger both for the same price, one has a 1.8m usb-c cable and the other has a 1m cable.
1.8m cable: https://tinyurl.com/3wk4tj5e
1m cable: https://tinyurl.com/55d3fcmv

The charger (1.8m version) is currently $51.95 on Amazon though so if you have prime it may make Amazon a better deal once you factor in shipping.

OW also have the 45W which you may be able to price beat, I haven't tried this though (looks like the 1m cable version): https://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/samsung-45…

This feels overpriced when you can get decent gan chargers with more ports and higher wattage for around the same price (non heymix!)

    • +1

      Anker Nano 65W with USB-A and USB-C (x2) for $55 recently.

      • this samsung includes a decent usb-c cable

        • +2

Doesn't justify the cost difference - you can get really nice USBC cables that support SFC2.0 from aliexpress starting at $3 (depends on length).

    • +1

None of them can do PPS 45w

      • +1

Is that superfast charge 2.0? If so, then yes some can.

Edit: e.g. would be the baseus 65w gan charger - frequently on ozb and it does SFC2.0.

        • Correct. From the website:

SFC 2.0(45W) is available on Galaxy S22+, S22 Ultra, S20 Ultra, Note10+, Tab S7+ and higher. Compatible devices may be added.

    • What’s GAN charger and why is it important?

      • +3

It's the material used in construction (gallium nitride) - allows for smaller chargers, more efficient and higher wattage charging for equivalent sized non gan chargers.

        • +1

Smaller if it was a multiport charger. But GaN chargers seem to run hotter than regular silicone chip chargers, even when not drawing high current/power.

  • Is being “small” the only thing that makes it “travel”?

    • +1

no as long as you can carry it, it makes it "travel"

    • +2

Could probably slap "gaming" on there too if they wanted to go full marketing

      • +7

You'd need RGB to properly make that claim

        • ARGB and with a screen? That makes everything cooler.

    • +1

Yeah, it's misleading. I expected it to have swappable plugs for different countries. It doesn't, it's just fixed Type I

    • It probably takes more than 3 steps without dribbling

  • 45w can charge a laptop too,

    wait, what

'A 6 month warranty is included.'

    • 45W will charge a laptop, though not necessarily while it's in use.

It would also be fine with smaller laptops while in use. For example, the MacBook Air M1.

As always, check the wattage of the original charger.

    • This charger might be incompatible with some laptops.

I have this 45w charger and found that it only charged Lenovo Carbon X1 Laptop at slow speed.

  • Will it power macbook pro 13"?

  • got mine from the bing lee deal. It's huge

    • +1

Yeah the 65w Anker and 65w Belkin Gan chargers are smaller.
I would advise to buy those instead.

  • This is not a 'travel' adapter by any stretch of the imagination. It has a fixed plug and no other way to convert it to another country's plugs unless you use an actual travel adapter. Neg.

    • +1

It could travel with you to and from work?

  • True.

  • Too expensive compared to similar adapters that can be bought. Previous deals at $29 made this is a great option, at $50, no deal. And as others have mentioned, there is nothing 'travel' about this. Its just your regular run of the mill USB-C power adapter.
