Window/YuanDao N70 Android Tablet USD$136.99 from BuySKU (Dual Core, 7" IPS, 1GB/16GB)

150

More cheap Made-In-China Android tablet :) Saw this on sale at BuySKU.com. Product is Window (YuanDao) N70 that actually does not run Windows but an Android tablet. Found a quick review/benchmark here. USD $136.99 delivered seem to be the cheapest I can find.

Quick spec:

  • Rockchip RK3066 Cortex-A9 Dual Core 1.5GHz
  • Mali-400 (prob quad-core similar to Aurora II)
  • 1GB RAM
  • 16GB storage
  • microSD expansion
  • 7" IPS 1024x600
  • Android 4.0.4

I guess it is comparable to Ainol Novo7 Aurora II that was posted today — slightly cheaper, crappier front camera (only 0.3MP), no bonus earphones, but arguably better/more stable CPU (Rockchip RK3066 vs Amlogic 8726-M6).

Both have equally bad brand name though.

  • these never seem to come with bulit in 3g support, ever since I got my ipad with 3g I am so over carrying a pocket 3g modem around!

If you have a smartphone with wireless hotspot/wireless or USB tethering, you can always connect via that method to your tablet.

  • Very good specs for the price :)

guys this is very strong spec here dont confuse with the regular china daily tablet posts

that Rockchip RK3066 can easily beat Tegra 2, check some antutu benchmarks.

According to that page, and others, it has a 2.0MP front facing camera- on par with the Aurora II. Although that review did say 0.3MP, you never know with these cheapo tablets!

The main thing deterring me from buying this though is the lack of support compared to the Aurora II, which would mean custom firmwares and the like would be difficult to come across.

Anyone know if it has the same wifi problems as most cheap tablets (and the Aurora II as mentioned in the other post) do?

    • I read a review on slatedroid saying wifi worked through 2 walls no problem. I'm thinking of getting this, I was holding out for a 1200x800 res near to this price, but the specs are quite good.

There is a youtube review somewhere that has the antutu benchmark at: GS3> Transformer Prime> N70> GNote> GNexus> GS2 etc…

      • Yes that's what I have read as well, that RK3066 is both significantly faster than Tegra2 and OMAP4. How much slower than Tegra3 though?

      • +1

CPU, given that it is dual core… Tegra 3 should be faster (but by how much?)

GPU, quad core Mali 400… that should be at least on par with Tegra 3's GPU (could even be faster).

Really tempted, but still kinda prefer to buy a tablet from a retail store…

        • another interesting comparison, the sgs3 also uses the mali400 quad, i imagine there would only be one variation out there, i could be wrong.

Be careful dealing with this organisation. I bought an Aurora over a month ago. Only just arrived as they had neglected to put my street address on parcel. Missing power adaptor and no English instructions. Service and web site poor. Tablet looks OK but I would buy somewhere a bit safer.

    • Which postage company do they use?

    • Dodgy service. Thanks for the caution.

some good discussion (and links to supposed better ROM) on this tablet here:
    http://www.slatedroid.com/topic/35258-window-n70-dual-core-v…

appears there are pros and cons, just as there are with Aurora II.

  • GPS Navigation: No

    I'll stick with my Nexus 7 :D

    • Are there any USB/BT GPS adaptors that work with Android?

      • Thanks for the question. Looks like most of those would work. Just need an app like Bluetooth GPS: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=googoo.android…

Forgot about that being an option. Now, I can find some use of my $19 bluetooth GPS adaptor.

Nexus 7 has NFC and it runs JB.

        • Aw man….this doesn't have BT though…sigh

        • Yes. Because it's a handy feature to have nfc and bump those things around.

        • Good point. Well, maybe I will try my AC880U (3G+GPS), it's been collecting dust for a couple of years.

The Bluetooth GPS is more for my Tegra 2 tablet. The GPS on it is pretty weak for some reason.

To be honest, GPS on tablets are more for fun to me. I just use the GPS that's built into the car. No need to worry about the USB cable, mounting it and the one in the car for some reason works inside a car park and a tunnel (uses digital compass + speed of the car to approximate I think) and works well in CBD.

        • I mean the tablet doesn't have Bluetooth

        • I know. Thanks for the reminder. BT is probably important for some people.

    • I can't see that being a showstopper. You can tether GPS to your android (you'll prob be tethering it to wifi anyway), and apart from that, it seems to picks up locations from wifi somehow anyways (someone more technical might be able to explain how that happens).
My Aurora seems to always know where I am in google maps and all I do is tether it to Android phone over wifi (with GPS turned off on android, and without installing tethergps app)

  • If you set the currency to AUD, the price changes to $132.37 AUD. Might be better than Paypal exchange rate or bank credit card exchange rate + o/s transaction fee.

  • Would adding Bluetooth to this (I guess via usb) work ok?

    • USB OTG is supported (so USB keyboards, mice, joysticks, portable hard drives work - though not sure about power output, unless you use an SSD). So, in theory, bluetooth USB dongle should be okay.

      • Portable hard drives dont work with OTG i have tried that on Aurora its only the adaptor one that works with OTG

  • So is there a similar spec out there with gps, bluetooth and 3g for not much more?
