"Should customers wish to continue after the initial 30 days, they will pay $40 per 30 day top up"

  • Get upto 5 extra sims as gifts - but only 1 can be redeemed per person

    • +1

No, you can't activate them all in your name. From the conditions on the site:

      • Limit of one voucher redeemable per person
      • Available for new connections only

Nothing stopping you from activating under family member names. However note that all vouchers need to be redeemed within 3 months, so at most you can have 3 months unlimited for $6.

Edit: you ninja edited your question into an answered statement while I was typing the reply :P

      • Thanks for the effort.

    • where to click 5 extra sims as gifts?

      • Site allows you to buy 5 now. However, only one space for Gift Receivers details. Maybe I want one and to gift the rest- hands tied.

"You may purchase 5 of this SUREdeal"

  • +4

not SURE whether I should put my credit card details in, wish they have a paypal option.

    • finally order one using my Debit MasterCard.

    • Yeah they really need a PayPal option. Kills two birds with one stone - 1) you know for sure when you're being billed because you initiate it, and 2) enforces HTTPS so solves the security concerns.

    • Why is Paypal safer than a credit card? In Australia credit card providers, give you exactly the same fraud protection as Paypal. It is legislated.

      • Paypal favours the buyer.

  • Shucks, but i don't need it now…. lol

  • Sounds good, but are there any pitfalls or traps?

  • +4
    • +6

      Woh! So many negatives!

Once you put your credit card details in, you're pwned!

  • +2

lol im still using the $10 redbull sims for 2 months, still have one left….

  • Looks like a good deal but looking at the T&C, it states:

Upfront payment of $20 is required which includes the mobile sim hardware, postage and handling fee and connection/porting fees which is non-refundable.

Is this applicable if we take up the deal from suredeal?

    • Yeah I saw that and it looked like the wrong document was linked to, looked like a mobile phone offer.

    • -2

      REP please make this clear..
      $20 + $2 = NO DEAL!

      • +3

Includes $20 Connection Fee - - this fee has been waived, nothing more to pay!

        READ

        • +2

It appears the rep updated the details on suredeal's site to include that sentence.

        • In that case I say to Cloud - lol maybe you shouldn't make such dodgey comments
-So maybe you should READ what I wrote…..sigh silly ppl

  • +1

Who cares, it's $2 and won't be my main SIM. If it works I'll have fun. If not, I can cuss Vodaf*** with basis. :)

No Paypal so paid with DC.

    • +1

this is on the Optus network….

  • +3

"Upfront payment of $20 is required which includes the mobile sim hardware, postage and handling fee and connection/porting fees which is non-refundable"

This was in terms and conditions. when i signed up at no point of time it said that I was paying extra $20??? Can you please make it clear as I wont be signing up if that's the case…

    Thanks

  • sounds ok, i might grab one or 2 but the only thing im thinking of is the payment method….. if u use credit card or some form like that will they automatically charge u the next months fee without asking u?

    • Don't think so, you haven't registered for a service yet, that comes when you redeem the voucher. All you get at this time is an electronic voucher which has to be redeemed before 31/10.

  • Also a question for the rep, when we redeem the voucher when does the 30 days start ticking? From the time we register the SIM online and choose or port a number? So actually there will be a few days delay between redeeming the voucher and getting the SIM in the mail?

    • its in the terms on there buddy……

  • I meant after u pay the $2 and wait untill that first month is up will they roll over the new month and charge u?

    • +2

Looks like they could if they have your payment details. So you might have to cancel.

Edit: It depends on whether you need to enter any card details here when you redeem the voucher:

      http://www.suretelecom.com.au/main/page_self_service_prepaid…

Edit: Noticed a problem with that form, it submits to a HTTP page. C'mon Sure Telecom. Non-HTTPS submit links are a no-no in e-commerce. I certainly won't be filling in any card details on that form.

      • +1

Re: non-HTTPS form, that makes this a no deal for me. There's not just credit card details, there's also other personal info like driver's license number to fill in.

  • Would like to know can I port in my number from DODO (Optus network) to SURETELE (Optues network)?
    Am I new customer ?

    • Yes, of course. Even if you were from Optus to an Optus wholesaler and vs.

  • Voucher must be activated within 3 months from 31/07/2012
    3 months only

    &

    $20 Upfront payment??

  • hmm only thing worrying me now is that $20 up front im just thinking this only applies for other services and not this deal but have to call and confirm…..

    • +1

Yer the terms and conditions are contradicting one another - one states free other states $20.

      • +1

        Confusing, disorganized and contradictory…
        These guys are clowns.

      • +1

I think this clearly answers your question: There are no other fees or charges and your sim card and shipping are included so all you’ll pay is a tiny $2!

They say the $20 is for the sim, postage, and porting/connection, so unless there is a connection fee it should only be $2

        • no hidden charges, the normal $20 activation fee has been waived for the SUREdeal offer, it's just $2

        • +1

OK looks like its been updated.

  • -3

    $20 + $2 = no deal thank you.

  • Is suredeal.com.au associated with suretelecom.com.au? Suredeal looks like a daily buying site?

If they send you the sim, looks like you activate here: http://www.suretelecom.com.au/main/page_self_service_activat…

and there doesn't seem to be a need to give suretelecom your CC details.

    • +3

Suredeal is a group buying site, and its unrelated to Suretelecom.

Suredeal also did the $28 Savvytel deal about a month ago.

      • Thanks. Makes me feel better if I have to pay suredeal via CC.

  • CONFIRMED $2 ONLY

  • Sound good if you are careful… just watch it in terms of hidden charges etc Some people have been got with some really random crap from these guys.
    http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=1728820

    • Says international calls etc won't connect and data will stop once 2 GB used.

  • This is a $2 OFFER once only.

Please read the offer carefully. The offer states all of the inclusions, including free connection.

    • Rep: What is needed by SureTelecom to activate my sim card? Do you ask for credit card or any other payment details when activating?

  • Can I use this in a usb dongle for my laptop?

    • Yes, you can, for the data only

  • Thank you for pointing this out King, 1 year ago customers used data excess usage fees and charges for other services, these were post-paid credit customers.

THIS is $2 ONLY, is pre-paid, no possible excess usage charges and everything included.

OBS Vouchers are redeemable once the suredeal offer is finished and the customers just sign up online.

    • Thanks. I take that to mean you don't ask for credit card details. Bit ambiguous still.

    • I have already register with a fake credit card number, if @suretelecom is saying the truth, it will deliver my simcard without prompting any correction for payment detail in the 10 days mentioned. Let's see if suretelecom is a countable service.

      • -3

As Sure Telecom is an honest and accountable company, we expect this also from customers.

As you have already purchased your 30 days commitment from Suredeal, credit card details are not necessary. We would only require those details if you were purchasing directly from us for this deal. All credit card details sent by customers are held securely.

        • +5

Ok, but may not be transmitted securely, see my comment above about your non-HTTPS form. Surely you can afford to buy an SSL certificate.

        • +2

True, provide a reliable secure website before you expect honest credit card numbers from customers. Even chinese sellers have started using HTTPS these days

  • Yes this time it appear slightly more a bargain but I might only use Sim for data, $1/GB being half my usual fare. Being currently stocked up on Woolworths (also on Optus) though is nice.

  • +1

    @REP
Does it cost to port number away after joining?
Are all SIM's double punched for Micro SIM, or must I choose which one at time of order?

    • would like to know that too

  • +1

    REP,
i assume like others the deal will give us a voucher code only.
where do we pick microSIM at the redeem voucher link == prepaid selfserve application page ??
also where do we enter the shipping address??

i assume (somehow) we receive the sim card +10days later,
we then need to activate it on the activation page, that is when then 30days starts?

lastly, the 'vouchers must be activated 3 months from 31/07/2012 '
does this mean apply for the sim with the voucher within 3mths and activate the sim it anytime after,
OR within 3mths to activate the sim card??

    • Clarification on the 3mths period would be much appreciated.

And to ride on this post,

Does the data support tethering? Would I be able to use the data on a USB/MiFi device to share the data connection?

Bump for the great deal if so.

    • +2

APN setup too if its handy OP?

  • +1

Watch out the deal conditions and the company. I purchased a great deal like this December 2011 ($15 unlimited calls with 500+1000Mbyte data. Suretelecom couldn't provide the contract condition, dismissed 1000Mbyte bonus, excess charges, "unauthorized credit card charges", etc etc. They are using every trick in trade to take advantage of the customers. I spent 4 months to get out of company and my money via ombudsman. This deal seems also very good, but I wouldn't take it for free!!!

    • They can muck around with D.O.B.-mismatch 'errors' when they feel it not their worth porting a number and then fail to dispatch your starter kit accordingly. They keep your payment of course. It is unfortunate when that happens & just reaffirms the careless attitudes behind these businesses. No doubt I am increasingly cautious before I join, though in my report I am more pointing to one of either Dodo or Vodafone AU as the alleged bad apple. Sadly they exist.

  • 'Sabric' is another example of a customer that used additional services on a post-paid contract. New customers, rest assure this deal is great and what you see is what you get.

We can only ship to your home address and your account and mobile sim must be active within 3 months.

    • REP, as "onecentless" mentioned

the 'vouchers must be activated 3 months from 31/07/2012 '
does this mean apply for the sim with the voucher within 3mths and activate the sim it anytime after,
OR within 3mths to activate the sim card??

    • +5

Why can't you provide all answers at ONCE. Create a FAQ page if you have to.

      1. What is the procedure after purchasing the voucher?
      2. Will I receive the SIM card at my address after buying the voucher?
      3. Do I then need to activate the SIM card online?
      4. Can I redeem the voucher BEFORE the deal ends?
      • +1
        1. Sign up to the pre-paid mobile product on ST website with voucher.
        2. No, it is a voucher only, you must sign up.
        3. You can activate online or over the phone.
        4. No, vouchers can only be redeemed once the deal has finished.
        • +2

          Thanks! Now, more questions…

          1. Provide link to ST website where we can signup after purchasing the voucher
          2. Do we need to enter credit card details on that form in order to signup AFTER purchasing the voucher?
          3. Will I be charged automatically on my credit card after 30 days of using the SIM card for the next month or do I have to top-up the account after 30 days to continue using the service?
          4. What will be the cost per month if we decide to continue using the service after first 30 days of usage?
        • +3

This was Steptoe and my FAQ
          1. Does it cost to port number IN / AWAY before or after joining?
          2. Are all SIM's double punched for Micro SIM, or must I choose which one at time of order?

          Thanks REP

          1. Does the Unlimitated Pre-Paid support iPhone/Android tethering capabilities?

          2. Would I be able to use the sim card on my iPad, MiFi or USB 3G modem dongle?

          3. APN details for set up of the devices in 2. (if supported)

  • +1

So… is the voucher need to be redeemed by 31/10/2012 ?

or the sim card need to be activated by 31/10/2012 ?

    • if it's the voucher need to be redeemed by 31/10/2012, when's the expiry of the sims we redeemed by voucher??
  • +1

"Sure Telecom Unlimited voucher is valid for 30 days from voucher redemption" and "Please allow 10 business days from redemption date for your item to be shipped", why isn't it "Sure Telecom Unlimited voucher is valid for 30 days from SIM activation"?

    • So really they are saying that 10 of your 30 days could be wasted in shipping.
      Weird.

      • +1

Your 30 day starts from activation of your service. The service must be active within the redemption period or the voucher will be deemed void.

        • +2

You must be getting tired of having to clarify everything.

  • +1

Anyone know if they allow android tethering? We're moving next month so would be good to get for the month when we have no internet connection.

  • -3

So, does this mean we can buy 3 for $6 and essentially get 3 months of use?

  • Do we have pay ONLY by Visa? I have Mastercard but not Visa

    • I think you can select Mastercard from the drop down. Visa just happens to be the one showing.

    • Once you login you will have option to select Mastercard.

    • Complete registration first and submit. Then add payment details, as mastercard will be in pulldown list.

  • +1

How do I refer a friend with suredeal? There is NO refer link in My Account section.

    • Yes, would've bought more with $5 credit.

    • anyone know how to get referral link from suredeal's My Account?

  • Below average company to deal with http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=1728820 plus other complaints

  • +2

    REP,

I think this is what you really mean:

    • "Voucher must be activated within 3 months from 31/07/2012" == "Voucher must be redeemed and SIM card activated within 3 months from 31/07/2012"
    • "Sure Telecom Unlimited voucher is valid for 30 days from voucher redemption" == "Sure Telecom SIM is valid for 30 days from SIM activation", unless you want to continue and pay up.

Is this correct? Please clarify. The language is causing a lot of confusion.

EDIT: Also wanted to confirm that even though the vouchers are issued immediately, we can only use them 31/07/2012 onwards, correct?

  • +4

    Hey REP, are you picking and choosing which questions you answer?;

daver 12 hours 7 min ago
APN setup too if its handy OP?

    • It would appear so. I'm ahead of you in the queue :p

      • Meh Queue Jumpers.

    • -1

APN is not required on a mobile.

      • what about other mobile devices mate? such as 3G modems

        • This offer is not for a modem.

  • I have not been to the site, but all the confusion above makes me think its too bl**dy hard and confusing.

Why cant i just simply buy it with paypal [ i know i know], get it sent to my address and use it?

    That would be simple.

Some of these deals have all sorts of funny/tricky/suspect conditions attached and the posting company etc tries to fix them on the run.

    • Maybe because they want your credit card number !!! if it looks like a duck, walks like a duck and smells like a duck…..
