    • Please refrain from making statements of unreliable and misleading, please read the offer on the delivery terms, I have provided the link below again for your convenience and I have quoted the terms under which you were clearly informed

      http://www.suredeal.com.au/all-deals/deal/2704

Please allow 10 business days from redemption date for your item to be shipped

Nowhere did we tell you or advise to anybody that they would 'receive' the sim card within a certain time frame. We guaranteed a time of dispatch. Every approved application has been dispatched exactly on time.

***Statement seems to have been removed.

      • edited by smartbuyer that not reading the term and condition :)

        • Actually edited because I did not want to cause an issue anymore. I did read the terms and conditions, but was also actually told in an email reply that it would take 'up to 10 business days' to receive, not just that it would be dispatched within 10 days. It has been 12 business days and I am still waiting. I have even contacted Australia Post and was told by them that there is nothing they can do for me as well as I was not given a tracking number.

        • you are counting 12 business day from the redemption date that the company set?
just tell us what date that you redeem your voucher.

        • Yes I am, Aug 1.

      • what is your reponse suretelecom?

  • i am trying to activate this sim and port my number from past two days but it is not porting and no one is picking the phone on 1300987132 from two days……plus today my number was disconnected from savvytel but it has not been ported to sure telecom,,,,can someone help with this,,,,

Sure telcom rejected my applications for other 2 vouchers (I bought 3) because they suspected I wanted to use for myself!
Beside I couldn't use any of the data, and the rep on the phone refused to help me with it.
I will NOT do business with Sure telcom, and suggest no one else should!

    • +1

Did you buy 3 all in your name, or as gifts for two other people?

    • Limit of one voucher redeemable per person
Buy an extra five SIMS as gifts

  • Still haven't received mine. Been over 2 weeks now :(

    • 3 weeks for me. Not great service.

      • Are you serious? Bloody ridiculous!

        • Are YOU serious? I've had my sim for 3 weeks waiting for my Woolworths mobile to expire before I can use it…

Call them up, something is wrong.

        • Received it yesterday. Dispatched on the 16th business day and received on the 20th business day as I said terrible service. Atleast I have the SIM now.

        • Ive been very shocked with suretelecom, incredibly slow service from a telco, operating in a fast paced industry.

  • I have applied for my SIM on 1st August and havent recieved my sim yet. terrible service

  • I'm unable to leave a negative comment for this deal as I'm new to OzBargain. I've really had a bad experience with these guys. Purcahsed two sim one for myself and other for my wife. Rep denied to activate my wife's sim card claiming that i will use it. This is ridiculously stupid. Moreover very arrogant over phone. Do not trust these guys.

    • so why they allow you to purchase in the first place? weird

      • Excatly, they shouldn't allow it in the first place. Not a good practice. Looks like a bogus company.

Received an email today from Sure Telecom renegging on this deal.

They advise that they will only honour the first in the series of any vouchers purchased in a multiple buy. Sims already issued and activated will be honoured but unactivated Sims will be voided. A request must be made for a refund of the amounts paid for unredeemed vouchers. Voided Sims must be returned before a refund will be given.

Looking back over the comments posted, this deal was ill conceived and and poorly communicated from the outset. If there is an "OzBargain Hall of Shame I'd like to nominate this deal for induction.

Do you think it would be worth submitting a Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman (TIO) complaint? I couldn't find anything in their terms and conditions that they could just pull the deal and not offer the service that was advertised, or could they?

Interesting each complaint to the TIO cost the company $32 (http://www.tio.com.au/members/billing-and-payments)

      • I would be asking for a post paid envelope to send it back or a refund of $2 + postage ($.60?) otherwise you will contact the TIO. They should be sensible enough to do that.

      • on my last complaint to tpg, they told me that they don't paid per customer anymore, they just paid flat fee per year.

    • Any chance of posting the email you received? Thanks.

This is the email that I got:
        Dear Customers

Due to circumstances surrounding the SureDeal offer, Sure Telecom has decided to terminate all vouchers over and above 1 per person, it is the consumers perception that they can use 3 vouchers for themselves over a 3 month period and therefore receive 3 months of Unlimited usage for $6. This is of great concern and is causing conflict between staff and consumers.

In view of continuing great relationships with consumers, we have terminated the remaining vouchers ending in -2 -3 -4 -5 -6. All vouchers ending in -1 and all vouchers that have already been successfully redeemed will be honoured, however, if you have already redeemed more than one voucher and received the sim cards, any attempt to activate 1 sim card after another month after month will deem the voucher/sim card void. We do realise that there are a select few consumers that may not have attempted redemption of vouchers in this way and we apologies for the termination of remaining vouchers.

To obtain a refund of an unused voucher

Please go to www.suretelecom.com.au and complete the refund request form under the Terms & Conditions.

To obtain a refund of an unused sim card

Please return the sim card, go to www.suretelecom.com.au and complete the refund request form under the Terms & Conditions. Only once we have received the sim card, we will release the refund.

Although this matter has occurred there are still many thousands of customers of whom have enjoyed the use of our offer successfully and we thank you for signing with our company.

        Kind regards
        ……….

must've been simply looking to spice it up, with afterward no intention to honor. Just as well I got only 1 alone for myself (already learned that lesson from Dodo), but given this debacle I can't say I'm looking forward to the whole upcoming porting process.

    • have you ever call their call centre, then you know the owner of this company. if you dealing international business with this people, even you have formal agreement, in place, they still want to negotiate the final price that they agree, so don't get surprise if they don't honor their word, it is common within their community :)

  • LOL, i just received a call from Suretelecom, saying that since i have been with them for many years….they have a special deal on a landline. WTF, i signed up about 10 days ago on this special, but have not even used the service, or received the confirmation email advising the service is active. This company is shocking.

I've had the same problems others have had. These guys are a scamming bunch of jokes!!

If I knew how to change my positive vote to a negative vote, I would do so.

We have spoken to the ACCC and TIO and the following has been advised:

Basically we have written them a demand letter via email outlining what restitution we would like.

"I hearby demand that you activate the service forthwith, otherwise you will be in contravention of the Australian Competition and Consumer Act 2010 for misleading and deceptive conduct. Failure to comply will result in further action."

I suggest others burnt by these guys do the same. We don't need operators like this lot in Australia.

    • You can't change your positive to a negative vote but you can retract your positive vote. Go to the Votes tab at the top of the page and revoke your vote from there.

  • Useless buggers. I'm still waiting for my first SIM to arrive. Looks like I have to chase up a refund on the second unclaimed SIM.

Once someone finds out how to go about getting a refund please post here so we can all go down this route.

    • call your bank and do charge back

  • Sure Telecom are real phony company. They have mislead the consumers. They have used false advertising and mislead many people thinking they will have popularity. One should be careful ever dealing with Sure telecom. they should be labeled UNSURE Telecom. Their conduct has been fraudulent.

  • Everyone should report this fraudulent practice to ACCC and then only consumers are going to be protected.

  • Sure Deal should also investigate this fraud. Is it not Suredeal responsibility to ensure that the companies they deal with are honourable.

  • I've been waiting for my sim to arrive.
I thought I was the only one, guess not.

  • I heard ACCC is looking at these deals through Groupon and Suredeals that are misleading consumers and having a free advertisement. Well…….

  • Anyone know how to check download usage rather than calling their call centre?

    • On iPhone, net Master app works well. What phone do you have, there maybe an app.

      • iphone 3gs, i m using consume apps. last on wednesday I called their call centre and he is calculating manual

Burnt! Ordered 2 SIMs - using 2 vouchers that I purchased under my suredeal account.
Received one - did not receive the other (>20 days) and called up Sure Telecom today.
Same reason - can't send 2 separate SIMs, even though I requested the SIMs under different names -my wife and me.
Rep was courteous, but adamant that he could do nothing about it as his managers were responsible for this decision. There were no managers on site to speak to unfortunately (at 2 PM on a work day!).
He said an email had been sent advising me about the decision - definitely didn't receive any such email.
Refused to activate my SIM in my wife's name.
I'll request a refund for both SIMs as I don't approve of their business practises.

  • Contact TIO immediately. I have received letter from TIO. But no communication from Sure Telecome. Sure has become unsure. The customer service is so poor that they just put down the phone.

    • Any further news about this from TIO?

  • I failed to activate it just because I call Sure Telecom with a sim card of Sure telecom. WTF!!!!

  • They refuse to redeem the voucher ……..
I had 2 voucher, one for my boyfriend and one for myself.
I put the other one as a gift under my boyfriend's name…
I tried to redeem the voucher and got the following email said they are not going to accept the voucher as one per person..

Anyone knows the ACCC email ?

  • I feel for you guys but honestly I've not had a single issue…

the sim came in a week
    activation took minutes
I've been happily milking calls/sms data since.
as an added bonus my credit card got cancelled (stolen) so I can use this till it dies with no fear of $40.

    • you won't get charge anything mate, as this is prepaid, not postpaid.

  • Got a call from TOI but still waiting to hear from the Sure Telecom for milking money from consumers. Just think how much money they would have made by just getting $2 from so many people. And also free publicity.

  • it seems they will pull all the tricks and stunts in the world. Milk them as much as you can especially on our behalf who have been burnt. Some satisfaction…..

  • wondering where suddenly Sure Telecom and Sure Deal teams have disappeared. Hey not brave enough to deal with this mess you have created. Deceitful conduct and fooling people is not acceptable.

to report to ACCC - you go to the website www.accc.gov.au
    to report to Telecommunication www.tio.com.au

  • suretelecom is totally rubbish. not honoring their own t&c.
    AVIOD these scammers.

suretelecom 1300987132 tells me to get a refund from suredeal,
but the letter above say to fill in a form to refund from suretelecom.

    this is sureBS.

excellent marketing and getting your brand out there suretelecom.
    dickheads.

  • All these people with problems should NEG this deal to warn people in the future.

Sure Telecom are a bad joke.

  • Same issue here,
got this brief email, with no details on how and when the refund would be paid.

"In order to prevent abuse of the promo, Sure Telecom management has decided that only ONE voucher will be honored for redemption. If a customer has bought multiple vouchers, a refund will be issued for the unclaimed vouchers.

Suredeal is already working on processing the refunds to all the unclaimed vouchers due to this reason.

    Thank you very much."

The plan was to move to SureTel after our (Wife and I) current vodafone contract was up at the end of the month.
Wish they had informed me earlier so I could make other plans. Will go check that Amasim deal now.

  • Simple fact is both Suredeal and Suretelecom are together on this. Fooling the authorities and consumers by sending these emails - trying to avoid paying a penny back. Just how much money they have already taken????? You will not get it back as they will play this game of blame at each other. I recently got a email that I will publish

    • call your bank, tell them that you would like charge back the transaction with suredeal, you got 6 months to charge back. don't waste your energy with them

Here is the email I received last night from SureDeal regarding unused sim cards from SureTelecom. How arrogant SureDeal. How they are going to conduct business in future with such brains? Just read the letter. Only fools can write to their customers in such a rude manner using a language and saying - naughty naughty!!
Suredeal Team you are scammers and useless bunch of people - a real joke in the world of business that will go no where with manners like these. Go and get some customer service training.

    Dear Valued Customer

Recently, you may have received an email from Sure Telecom to let you know that they will no longer be honouring additional SUREdeal vouchers (ie. additional means more than one SIM/voucher per person).
    urt
Sure Telecom made this decision after some buyers attempted to redeem multiple vouchers consecutively in order to get more than one month of Unlimited usage – naughty naughty!

All vouchers ending in -1 and all vouchers that have already been successfully activated will still be honoured.

Any voucher ending in -2, -3, -4, -5, or -6 will not be honoured by Sure Telecom and any unactivated SIM cards that may have already been redeemed from these vouchers will be voided by Sure Telecom.

The good news is that Sure Telecom will be refunding you for any unactivated SIM cards or vouchers. To claim your refund, simply follow these steps:

    1. Go to http://www.suretelecom.com.au/attachments/Refund_Request_For…

    2. Complete your details (insert your SUREdeal voucher numbers)

    3. Email the form to: [email protected]

*If you are requesting a refund for an unactivated SIM card that you have in your possession, please complete the form and you will receive details on returning the SIM from: [email protected]

While it was not SUREdeal’s decision to cancel these vouchers we are very sorry for any inconvenience this decision by Sure Telecom may have caused you – especially to those members who were doing the right thing and only redeeming one voucher per person as per the terms of the offer.

Unfortunately, this transaction cannot be refunded directly by SUREdeal but if you have any questions about the refund process or the progress of your submitted refund request, you can contact Sure Telecom directly at: [email protected] or on: 1300 987 132.

    Thank you for your understanding.

    Kind regards,
    Team SUREdeal

    • call your bank to chargeback suredeal, then their bank know that who is the naughty :)

SureTelecom's refund form has the following notice in the signature panel. It tries to strip me of my consumer protection rights. Should I sign the form and get my money back?

You agree that the determination made by Sure Telecom is final and binding upon the resolution provided.

What is the amount of refund I should claim? $2 for the SureDeal voucher, or $40 face value of the mobile plan?

    • omg, the scam you and you try to scam them back hahaha

  • Activated on Sunday and am using it right now. Works fine, Optus quality reception, etc. so no complaints there. Not for $2 for sure.

On the form I asked for a port from an old number of mine but they gave me a new number. Not very customer oriented to ignore that part of the instructions. Somebody attended to the form data manually and wrote me that by email. That and the non-HTTPS form are signs to me they are not serious about Internet trading. I don't see how they can compete against better offers on the market especially if they don't handle automated registration and activation professionally.

  • anyone know if you need to call them after 30 days to deactivate the service or the service will stop automatically?

  • suretelecom on 26/07/2012 - 14:25 ¶

-> since its a prepaid how long will your number last after the 30th day (if you don't recharge)? 90 DAYS
    -> free port out/in YES

It took at least one week to see my mobile number on the application form finally ported; which felt rather slow… however, this has worked out compared to the worst I tried in 2012 i.e. to name Redbull->dodo.

I can confirm ST may offer satisfactory help based on my correspondence with support. I also can not fault any product that boasts simply charged 3G data, and generally, this must be welcome.

Meanwhile, I hold a view of data being more valuable than calls, and am less likely to stay on as a regular top up customer. I.e. for some $22.60/mo saving by selecting 'woolies recharge' I'd cede maybe 0.67 GB of DL/mo (~3.33GB vs 4GB), therefore to me, this still presents a greater return on investment.
    ($17.40 vs $40.00)
