It's $98, but there's an option to apply a $10 coupon (might be for Prime only).

It's been quite humid the past few days, so wanted to get a dehumidifier for bub's room. Had a look around on Amazon and found this, put it on camelcamelcamel yesterday and to my surprise, got notified today it dropped in price!

Not sure how good these are, just can't justify spending over $300 for it. Reviews seem good enough for a small room. Just wanted to share.

Black is also available for $121.99

From what I've read, peltier technology is pretty crap for dehumidifiers. 750mL per day is an extremely small amount and would suit a closet. You'd probably be better off buying a larger model, although at increased cost.

    • +2

Absolutely. This is good for a walk in wardrobe at a stretch bathroom or laundry. That's about all.

    • +2

Yep, useless as tits on a bull.

It wouldn't even offset the humidity created by perspiration a small bedroom.

I once put a 9-litre bucket under my split system's drain hose and it filled it in a little over 4 hours (Sydney Summer's day). That's just from just a modest-sized lounge kitchen area.

    • At over 3x the cost, I don't think I can justify it…

I've used the ANKO branded one from Kmart for a couple of years now in my bathroom, for $59 it's done its job. It pulls about a litre a day and has stopped any mould growth that was happening at roughly 1/5 the power a compressor unit would be using. I wouldn't use it in a room any bigger than that though.

    • This. Do NOT ever buy these kinds of dehumidifiers, their performance is abysmal and it's a complete waste of money.

Note also that the rated performance is under ideal conditions (usually 30 degrees Celsius and 80% Relative Humidity), so on most days you'd be lucky to get a small fraction of that.

I would recommend against buying anything less than a 20L/day rated compressor dehumidifier — for dessicant dehumidifiers, 10L/day is fine and normal.

      • Alright I caved, my baby's small bedroom is getting way too humid (75%). Sorry to bother but how about these ones?

        De'Longhi DEX-SERIES Multipurpose Dehumidifier, Home Moisture Removal, 24h Function, DEXD214F, 14 litres https://amzn.asia/d/i31nvBD

        Ausclimate NWT Compact+ 16L Dehumidifier - WDH-316DB https://amzn.asia/d/5FOAkeI

Or any you recommend around this price range. Thanks in advance!

        • Either of these brands are fine, but I'd recommend stretching your budget and getting a bigger model, at least 20L/day. Else it's not going to be very powerful and it may struggle to reduce the humidity and will cost more to run in the long term.

The only time I'd be OK with a 14-15L/day model would be if I was using it in a small enclosed room where the door is always kept closed and I never open the windows, but that is unrealistic.

          • @deadpoet: Thank you sir, appreciate your honest feedback!

That thing is no way powerful enough for a bedroom, however small it might be.

Reviews seem mixed but more than half are happy with it so willing to give it a go! Thanks op! ;)

    • I'm definitely going to give it a go. Make sure to keep the packing so you can return it if it doesn't perform.

      • +1

I used two of these, one being the smaller one. it does the job

    • +1

Don't do it, I find 80-90% of Amazon user reviews for dehumidifiers are either a complete sham, or the users are clueless (they don't even have a basic hygrometer and they simply guess at how much humidity is in their home). I can tell you straight off the bat that this dehumidifier is a complete waste of money, it's simply too small and weak to perform its job in any meaningful way. It's throwing money straight into the trash.

Always make sure you check the 1 and 2 star reviews, they usually tell you what you need to know:

I ran this unit for 3hrs in a room with 65% - I monitored it and the moisture level did not change.

      • I just received this and have left it on in my bathroom. Firstly, the neg reviews about noise is wrong, at least for me, it’s not loud at all.
Going to leave it on and see how much water it collects in 12hrs.

        • +2

150mls collected. Considering an average adult exhales 300mls of water vapor per day, I think I may return this but would keep if it were for a room that was not occupied.

          • @pOint01: Thanks for posting the follow-up, 150mL is actually more than I expected, lol. Would be adequate for a cupboard or a tiny hermetically sealed room with no windows or open door, but that's unrealistic. I'd rather just use some DampRid instead for such a scenario.

          • +1

@pOint01: Thank you for posting that, really helps! I haven't opened mine, so will probably return it too.
