    • That's the trouble with integrated straps- looks good on the black rubber though, I'd just wear it like that, guessing the bracelet version would be more but maybe look into that (if available) .

Ps. on another note, I didn't think the atomic clock worked in AUS but have heard there is one in Sydney. Dubious if it would work, and or in other states too.

      Cheers,

    • seems $65 for replacement rubber strap ….

      • Fairly reasonable if generic strapify ones are $40-50. Better than oris $500 at least lol.

Better if you've got a variety of standard 20mm lug-lug watches and straps to mix around though.

  • How fast do these guys typically ship to AU (Sydney)?

    • They are located in Sydney. So quick?

    • they ship via express post and you can also c&c from Alexandria (don't know if that's close to where you are)

      • I’m in Ryde area so not super close. I’m wondering if I placed an order today would express post arrive by Friday..?
I know you guys can’t say for sure but if they ship from Alexandria I’m thinking it would.

        • depends on how busy they are after the weekend's sale but in all likelihood, it should get to you by Friday, possibly earlier.

  • What's wrong with mentioning this $199 Eco-Drive Chronograph? Down 300 from $499 - https://starbuy.com.au/citizen-eco-drive-mens-watch-ca4500-2…

    Pulse counter looks bonza tbh.

    • I think it looks kinda gaudy with that gold.

  • +1

    Bought the SRPE77K, looks gorgeous

  • Bought the Citizen Eco-Drive AW1427-05X with the orange face and rubber bracelet. As I'm a noob I didn't realise you have to actually cut the strap to make it smaller.

Where can I find a replacement that I can use so I can keep the original in the box.

It appears to be about 14mm as it's not straight.

    • +1

Just look up on youtube how to cut it and just start by taking a little bit off at a time. The rubber doesn't last forever but you may as well enjoy it and have it fit properly. For $200 you're not really going to be selling it I reckon, or the next person can get another strap.

      • Struggling to even find a replacement strap at all or one with easy adjustment with holes.

        • Yeah why bother just wear it

          • @G-rig: Because if the strap gets damaged or worn down you can't replace it at all, making the watch useless. I've enquired with citizen for a strap but I'd imagine it'll be over $100.

I'm gonna try and swap it for one of their regular 20mm band watches

            • @patrioticpickle: Maybe return the watch out worry about it later, it should easily last you years anyway.

Always something to consider when choosing a watch - standard 20mm lug width means you can change straps easily, unlike proprietary stuff.

Yeah but you don't have to buy and put on the original strap.

I'm gonna try and swap it for one of their regular 20mm band watches

That's what I was going to suggest and what I would try. Shouldn't be hard to find something that fits well then it won't be useless. IMO you just have to try a few, even third party ones are an option. In my experience regular 20mm bands have different tolerances (both width and pin size) with different bands, so you can just try a few and find one that fits well.

I was going to recommend Amazon as a great way to do this, but they changed their T&C's recently so only the items that have "Free Returns" written next to the price are Free to return under change of mind. Really F'ed up the "try before you buy" possibility with Amazon.

              • @harshbdmmaster718: Don't think it's a normal 20mm strap. Look at the picture, it's proprietary with a male end link.. bit like my oris one. So not as Easy to throw anything on.

Anyway it's a 200$ watch, wear it with the night strap and if he loves it can buy another strap or something in a few years if that one wears out.. or easy to return, plenty of other stuff around.

                • @G-rig:

it's proprietary with a male end link..

My mistake didn't look and realize it was proprietary.

I guess I am just speaking from experience with Casio's (G-shocks specifically) where it's easy enough to find 3rd party band options, and if not you can most likely find an adapter which goes straight on with the original spring bars and then converts to XXmm quick release.

I also saw a recent video on an Invicta where the uploader didn't want to order an original replacement and so tried a few 3rd party straps from Amazon and found one that fit perfectly (even the silicone went right into the curved area). I think that specific strap was a TAG Heuer one.

My current GBD200 also cost me close to $200 and even though it is a newer model there are already adapters available.

              • @harshbdmmaster718: From my rough measurements it's 24mm wide at the widest point with the actual width that goes into the watch being 14mm. I could not find any third party bands anywhere that would fit and tried eBay, Ali Express, DH Gate, Amazon and many other 3rd party sites. Closest thing I could find is a plastic 14mm to 20mm adaptor on Ali Express but it looked very poor quality.

After going back and forth with Citizen support several times they finally gave me a part number 59-S54514 and told me to go to an authorised repairer to get one. When I google the part number I can't even find a picture of it, let alone one to buy. I imagine going to a repairer will cost well over $100 for this basic rubber band.

I gave up and returned the watch and am now on the hunt for a more universal 20mm - 22mm straight band one.

Just wanted to let everyone know in case they wanted to buy this watch and wanted a spare or replacement band. I really loved the look of the watch but didn't want to regularly wear it if I could never get a replacement band for it, deeming the watch useless.

                • +1

@patrioticpickle: Yeah my bad as G-rig explained, I didn't know it was proprietary. Some companies do this to prevent you from buying bands from third parties.

Closest thing I could find is a plastic 14mm to 20mm adaptor on Ali Express but it looked very poor quality.

Yeah but it would be cheap right? You could see how long they last. Even if made from plastic they typically last pretty long.
But the part I would be careful about is if it actually specifies your watch model as compatible. Otherwise as G-rig said if it's proprietary it probably won't fit properly.

Just wanted to let everyone know in case they wanted to buy this watch and wanted a spare or replacement band.

Yeah I think it's good that you pointed it out for others.
