    I urge anyone looking in this pricerange to check out Canyon as well.

    They're another DTC, but they offer a bit better value. The issue with them is getting stock.

      Always so tempted to buy a Canyon bike, also the issue of not being able to test ride them. Trek's 30-day change of mind guarantee sucked me in. I do love my Fuel EX though.

          It's not exactly cheap to send a mountain bike back to Germany (at your own expense)!

            @eggboi: Of course! But… My reading of their t&c's is free returns i.e. you fill in RMA, they send you link to print docs and account number/phone number to organise pickup.
            Check their website, right down at the bottom (in case you haven't already done that) :)

      I was specifically waiting out for a Canyon but the Marin Alpine Trail XR was available through BikesOnline for <$4k (still is based on a quick search of their site).

      I couldn't find anything for sub $4k mark that was nearly as well reviewed or specced.

        Spectral AL range is not Carbon, but none of the range come with Lyrik Ultimates iirc. at full price there's a bit more of a comparison to be had, but the sale price at B.O. make the Marin range hard to beat.
