    Imported produce activates my Almonds

Reluctant on this one as the oat milk was horrible

    • +1

I've tried all the supermarket available brands of barista almond milk. This one and Santarium So Good are the only ones that taste good IMO.

    • I make a lot of coffee with almond milk and I've tried this one and don't like it at all, IMO this is nothing like the Milk Lab brand (both owned by Noumi).
My 2 choices are Milk Lab (not available from a supermarket) and So Good Barista.
Both are very creamy, tasty and perfect for making a flat white/cap :)
This is a good deal however if you happen to like this one.

      • Interesting. I've also had the Labmilk version and to be honest I could tell any difference. Looking at the ingredients and all the nutritional values (energy / fat content / protein etc.) all the values were exactly the same between both.

        • +1

fwiw, I agree. I couldn't taste any difference in the milk or the steaming capability between milkLab and this one. The ingredients are identical as well as you said

        • *couldn't tell a difference

@Mellows: I'll grab another one shortly from Woolworths, given it is the same price, just to make sure I'm not mixing this up with another one, always happy to be corrected if this is the same :)
I have loads of Milk Lab so it'll be easy to compare (will report back).

            • @SimAus007: All good, I noticed Milk Lab has increased in price on Amazon too ($40 for 8 / $5 each) so it's significantly more expensive as well.

              • @Mellows: Yep, I've noticed this also, I'm sure the last time purchased a box of 6 it was either $30 or $32.
Off to Woolies, back soon :)

              • @Mellows: I've just been to Woolies, grabbed the last 1 on the shelf, I've now made myself a flat white and I am here to advise I was wrong, this is exactly the same as Milk Lab and I've clearly mixed this up with another brand.
Wow, I'll be buying a dozen this weekend from Woolies (if they are in stock).
My new fave at this price :)
PS: Milk Lab actually got me into almond milk as every other brand I'd tried before then I didn't like, now I prefer the flavour over cow's milk, which to me tastes bland compared with these higher quality ones.
I still hate the cheap ones, such as the Woolworths branded almond milk.

@SimAus007: Yea, I gave up cows milk ages ago but love my coffee. I tried EVERY alternative milk until I found a brand that was nice to make a flat white with - which was Australia's Own Barista almond and the macadamia one. (I actually prefer the macadamia one as I think it's a bit "creamier".)

    • @KKA23 Good to hear, I assumed I had a bad batch. This brand was undrinkable with my coffee. Alternative Dairy Co is my top choice for Oat

      • +1

Agreed. Alternative Dairy Co (Sanitarium) is by far the best option for oat (Oatly is also very good, but it's made in Sweden and I object to the carbon miles use to transport something that is basically oat and water halfway around the world to a country that has a plentiful supply of both).

It's a bit harder to get a hold of, but it's well worth finding a good wholesale supply and grabbing a bunch in bulk.

Matching Woolies. Stocked up on Wednesday.

Thanks OP. Bought 6 of the almond so maybe it's not OOS?

    • Hey, do you know this compares to Almond Breeze barista blend by any chance, taste wise?

      • +1

        Sorry, haven't tried it.

      • +1

I find the Almond Breeze has a bad aftertaste, so not a fan personally. This one, Milk Lab and So Good are my go to’s. Aldi has one too which I find surprisingly decent.

        • I agree, Almond Breeze is one of my least favourite brands. I'm not a fan of the taste.

  • +1

i think almond milk and oatmilk have 99% of water and 1% of the actual ingredient (eg. oat or almond?)

    • +2

      ok?

    • Can confirm Nut water is very expensive for what it is.
Also never using the term "Nut water" again… sorry

      • Maybe try Nut fluids…

      • +1

        Nut juice is acceptable.

    • +2

What do you think dairy milk is mostly comprised of?

      • +1

        get your logic outta here

      • cows?

  • +2

    Recommend the macadamia one

    • +2

i hope their good, bought 6

    • +2

Yep we like the mac in our house. Good price.

    • +2

I like the macadamia one more than the almond. Tastes creamier. Also great for making coffee with.

  • +1

has anyone tried the macadamia? it's min order 3 so I don't want to be stuck with some disgusting thing! There aren't that many reviews online. It sounds like it would be nice though?

    • I was feeling the same way but I grabbed it anyway. I know a couple of vegans that will love it if I don't.

      • +1

        too much fat
        ps good for keto ?

        • No, there's actually more fat in the almond version. People shouldn't be getting hung up on fat content anyway (depending on the type of fat obviously) it's not the devil it's made out to be.

          • @Mellows: Ok, you convinced me )) grabbed one at my local woollies to give it a try, ..i always used either normal milk or almond barista, and in rear cases soy barista milk - but i found soy milk too sweet( .. so will see how a macadamia one will go

    • +2

      It's good. Nice and creamy.

Make sure you know what your drinking. /s
    Nut milking EXPOSED

    • +1

as if this is getting negs, c'mon people where's your sense of humour? lol

  • I only ever trust nut milk made from actual nuts - so I only trust nut milk that I make.

Macadamia nut milk requires about 200-250 grams of macadamias

  • -4

Do people whom drink these nut based milks know that the extract (juice )from these nuts can be as low as 2% of the total volume of the product….Who knows what the rest of it is?

    • +1

Have you tried reading the ingredients label or are you just trying to FUD non-dairy milk?

    • -1

The rest is water , which is why they taste like crap

    • +1

So what? Dairy Milk is mostly water too.

I drink oat milk because I don't have much of a choice in the matter - I'm lactose intolerant. But even if I wasn't, I'd probably be making the switch anyway - do people who drink dairy know how bad it is for the environment?

      • ohhh growing almonds at scale is pretty horrible for the environment water wise as well… not as bad as cattle of course

        • That's why I said I drink oat. Dairy and Almond are terrible for water consumption. Dairy is also terrible for carbon emissions.

  • My go to Almond milk. Too bad it's limited to 6 per customer.

    • Walk into Woolworths and grab as many as you want at the same price.

  • Pity Oat isnt on sale. I only like the Barista Oat for my coffee

    • yeah that's the one the cafes I go to use.
still think it's a total rip off

      • +1

Thats why I only have coffee at home

        • yeah, but oak milk seems to be a rip off in general.
          oats are dirt cheap.

          • @bohn: Yeah its a bit exy so I only stock them when they're like $3.6/L. Also I usually mix in 1:4 milk so to balance out $$. Imo though they're still worth it in my coffee. I cant go back to 100% milk coffee now. Bad on my pocket tho… :/

        • Yep, the only place I drink coffee is at home, even with these non-dairy milk options, it has saved me a fortune.

  • bought califa oats milk in december when on half price, it's pretty good and have about 20 of them left in the cupboard. hopefully the almond one here has a long shelf life. califa is made in spain which seems an ok country to me to make food products.

    • My order just arrived, best before 7 Nov 2023

  • Yep, great price! Especially since the cheapest you can get Milklab for now is $40 for 8.
Just this year I've moved from Milklab over. This is less then half their price - ironically for the same product, relabelled..
