    Import - add duty charges

    • Duty charges are included

      • Nice. So ~$100 of duty then. I thought it would be more.

  • tfw you bought a 3090 at 2500 last year….

    • +1

you can make the same joke about any superseded tech. next gen tech always outperforms the previous.

    • +1

      3080 10gb was $2200.

Mwave has them for $2899 is it really worth forgoing local warranty to save 100 ?

    • Have you had good experiences with local GPU warranties

      • Most graphics card manufacturers wouldn't want their retailer to do a replacement for a faulty product on the spot.

        • +1

It matters not what the manufacturer wouldn't want - Australian Consumer Law mandates a fauly part must be dealt with by the retailer who cannot fob you off to a manufacturer.

          • @DisasterArea: What I'm saying is there are usually two paths for the warranty - One is replacing or refunding on the spot, most people are happier with this way and this is common for most low-value products and number two is sending it off for warranty/repair, which can usually result in waiting up to a maximum of 6 weeks (which I think is the maximum length that can be classified as "reasonable time" in the Australia Consumer Law).

Both of them are legal in Australia, some graphics card manufacturers do instant replacement with a refurbished product, and others tend to try to repair it. Very few manufacturers or even no manufacturers tend to do the new replacement on the spot for a faulty product.

    • Never had gpu broke down in my experience, longest i had was 7.5 years.

Not sure why you concerned too much about rma?

      • +1

I had my original 3080 pop on me a couple months after buying it. Even with local warranty it was a massive pain. International warranty sounds worse

lol it's not worth spending more than $400 on a gpu. So asking questions like "is it worth forgoing local warranty" have no meaning in this context.

People willing to spend $2000 overs on a pc component will just buy a spare 4090 anyway. As if they can go without a gpu for 3 weeks while it's repaired lol. Half of them pull of the hsf early and void their warranty anyway.

  • +2

    $1999 is the right price.

    • Or $999

      • +5

        1499 is the sweet spot

  • 4090 ti and titan got leaked… at these kind of prices i personally would hold off in hopes they will come down.

    • +1

They will be relased at higher prices. this wont budge for an year.

      • Hodl would disagree. If no one buys it will come down. Whats the block thing is?

      • It's budging constantly as we speak, which suggests a trend.

Crazy to think of buying this when the 4080 full PC deal from BPC is close to this price: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/754380

That's like saying why buy a Ferrari when I could have 10 Toyotas (or however many it is these days).
The market for each is different.

      • You are correct, I meant more to speculate on the price as opposed to those that are buying this.

      • Analogy might be slightly off there. It's more like why buy the engine of the fastest Ferrari when you can buy the 2nd fastest Ferrari car for the same price.

    • Agree!

      • Its 4080 vs 4090. Not 4080 vs 4080.

        • 30% more performance for what? 60% more money? Nah..

          • +3

@Dienk: Forget about the %. One can do 4k 120fps in games with no DLSS and the other can’t. It’s that simple.
            A person with a 4k 120hz display won’t even consider a 4080.
Not everyone has the same needs.

            • @lmagus:

Not everyone has the same needs.

I have a 4k 120Hz Display and I run a 3080Ti. Get about 100 FPS in most games with DLSS. 4080 would be plenty. Its not like that extra 20 FPS is going to make much of a difference on a Free/G sync enabled display.
Also, Utlra preset is madness. You need to tweak settings in any games so that it looks almost the same but gives better performance. I always do it.

  • Even if you were to buy a 4090. You wouldn’t buy a PNY or Manli. Shite warranty term

    • Why? I thought it's a standard 3yrs one?

      • -1

Harder to rma than asus or msi.

      • Sorry I meant terms not term. As in if you reposted the card, no warranty :)

    • What brands have the best warranty, easiest to RMA, get a repair/replacement?

  • +4

Let's not get into the habit of posting a so-called deal every time "newegg" restocks their card. Or you would be posting them 3 times a day. Even the price for the Sup-rim Liquid in OP's last post has been seen multiple times in the past 3 weeks.

So don't get so excited with the "newegg" restock alerts please. People here on Ozbargain are after real deals on GPUs, not just getting their hope high every time the alert/notification email comes in and only seeing this.

Also echo what was said above, is it really worth the $98 price difference when you go with newegg's international warranty than an Australian local one?
